Beth’s POV.

The next morning, Elizabeth woke up with a slight headache. The source of her headache was as a result of the mysterious dream she had overnight. To make matters worse, Beth had no idea where the dream originated from. It wasn’t clear to her and she had a hard time understanding what it truly meant.

That woman was in her dream yet again demanding things from her she neither posses or could afford. Asher was in charge around whatever was happening between them. Nothing she says or does could change his attitude towards her. That she was aware of.

She sighed, pulling herself into a siting position on the bed, her eyes darting around for Asher. She didn’t hear him come in last night and wondered if he even did at all. With no sign of the Alpha in sight, she let out a yawn, stretching her arms, just basking in the tranquility the early morning brought.

Her mind went back to the dream once again, reflecting on her words once more before shaking her head slightly as though she could get her words out of her mind as well.

After another minute of just sitting there, Beth rose up from the bed with the intention of making her way towards the bathroom when she stopped in her tracks, her eyes glued to Asher’s sleeping form on her blow up bed.

The sight was confusing at first as she kept staring down at him. His eyes were closed, mouth hanging low with little snore erupting with each rise and fall of his chest.

Beth couldn’t believe how comfortable he looked sleeping on it even though she knew how uncomfortable that damn bed could be.

Beth walked towards him, not sure whether to wake him up or not. He looked so peaceful when he was at sleep, a far cry from the man that always wore an annoyed mask whenever he is around her.

Maybe it was best to wake him up, she thought and quickly reached over and tapped him, urging him to wake up so he would sleep better on the bed. Asher was dead to the world, muttering things she couldn’t understand.

Elizabeth chuckled, watching how funny he looked and sounded as he stirred but didn’t wake up. Just when she was about to reach out a hand to him once again, his eyes flew opened and he caught her hand midway.

She was startled and tried to move out of his grip but he held her still, his eyes narrowing dangerously at her. “What were you trying to do?” He asked with suspicion and she gulped hard, seeing the look in his eyes.

“Nothing. I only wanted to wake you up so you can rest better on the bed. I know the floor is not that comfortable” She explained and he kept staring at her curiously before a sigh slipped out his mouth and he let her wrist go before rubbing at his neck, trying to ease the tension that had gathered there.

He did not have a good night at all, that much Elizabeth could see.

“I’m sorry I reacted that way, I thought you were trying to_”. Asher mumbled under his breath and Beth could only nod in understanding before getting back on her feet and walking away from him.

While she was gone, Asher sat in the same position for another minute just staring at the same spot she had being, his mind in great turmoil. There were several things running through his mind that he couldn’t quite understand. His brows creased as his mind went deeper in thoughts.

Beth quietly carried on her business in the bathroom without thinking too much about Asher’s earlier reaction. She is somewhat used to it by now. When she reemerged from the bathroom. He had already folded the bed off the floor and now seating by the foot of the bed, his hands still massaging his neck with a wince.

‘’That damn bed is so f*****g uncomfortable.’’ Asher grumbled under his breath without realizing her at the door. Beth couldn’t help but burst out with laughter but stopped abruptly when his head snapped at her direction.

“Funny huh?” He barked and she simply shrugged before ignoring him all together.

She grabbed a pair of clean shirt and leggings before turning to move towards the bathroom again but paused midway when she heard his voice.

“I’m sorry, Elizabeth. I made you sleep on it without realizing how uncomfortable it really was” he said and just kept staring at her.

Beth was confused as she stood staring back at him not sure she just heard him apologized to her. It’s not like she was expecting one but hearing one from Asher just seem unreal.

“Well? Are you just going to stand there or say something” He said and Beth quickly snapped out of her momentarily lost for word.

She looked at the ground, while hugging the items in her hand to her chest, with different emotions running through her mind.

‘’Its okay, you don’t have to apologize.’’ She managed to let out before slipping into the bathroom and slamming it shut.

**

Beth spent the rest of that day in bed with no single appetite to do or eat anything. The only thing she wanted is to hide under the sheet and sleep the rest of the day away. Asher had stormed out of the room before she could even returned from the bathroom.

She didn’t care if he was there or not, it’s not like they ever agreed on anything other than her getting screamed at. She lay sulking in bed until she drifted into another sleep. When she woke up again, it was mid afternoon. Rubbing the sleep away from her eyes, she crawl of bed before her eyes met with two large boxes at the foot of the bed with ribbons on it. There was a look of curiosity on her face as she stared down at the boxes. She moved towards it but made no attempt to open it as she continued to examine them with her eyes wondering who they could belong to.

Just about then, Asher walked in and stood beside the box, his eyes trained at her.

“Don’t you want to see what is inside?” Asher said and her brow furrowed slightly.

“Are they for me?”

He answered with a nod. Notwithstanding, she hesitated for a moment before she grabbed one of the box and pull off the ribbon before looking inside, her eyes growing an inch wider as she stared back at Asher.

“You bought this for me?” she was beyond surprised as her eyes moved between the content and then back at Asher who had a small smile plastered on his face before moving to sit beside her on the bed before taking her hands in his.

Elizabeth squeezed her eyes shut for a minute, willing this strange dream to go away. It didn’t and she knew then this was real and not a figment of her imagination. Asher was really holding on to her hand.

“I know this might seem a bit strange to you but I wanted to show you how sorry I was about making you sleep on the blow up bed in your condition. That’s was just cruel and I hope you can call it a truce” Asher said.

At his words, Beth was left feeling more confused than ever. Asher was really starting to confuse her with his sudden behavior. First he apologized and now another apology and even bought her dresses? This was the first time Asher had shown any sigh of remorse towards her and it just too much for her to believe.

In fact, she is beginning to feel really scared not to jinx it. Asher couldn’t have gone to bed and woke up with a different mindset because of a stupid blow up bed? What the hell is going on. Maybe he is up to something, she doesn’t know it yet but he certainly was.

Whatever it’s, she knew it’s better to play along and play along she did.

‘’You’re surprised?’’ Asher asked with a chuckle and she answered with a nod.

Oddly enough, instead of feeling bad for her response, Asher was quite glad that he was able to get through to her regardless. It was better than nothing.

‘’I know I have quite awful to you and that’s why I would like to offer you a peace treaty.’’ he said.

“Offer me a what?’’ Elizabeth asked, her brow slightly raised at him.

“A peace treaty. From now onward, I promise to be reasonable and less annoying and I hope you can do same, that way you and I can to live in peace like two normal people. So what do you say, Elizabeth?’’ he asked with a smile.

Elizabeth had a hard time replying as she sat there staring into those brown hazel eyes of his. Asher sounded too believable for her not to believe him yet something at the back of her told her otherwise.

“Okay. I can do that” she agreed with a smile

They held each other gaze for a moment before Asher spring back on his feet, “I heard you haven’t eaten all day. Are you not hungry?”

“I don’t have appetite”

“is it the pregnancy or Is there something else you want me to bring for you?”

Her l*p parted slightly but no word made it out and she had to snap it shut again.

“ No need to say anything, I will have Izzy bring some soup for you,, it will help with the lost appetite’’ he stated sharply before disappearing out the door and leaving her to stare right after him, wondering if that was really Asher or someone who looked like him yet doesn’t sound like him.
