Chapter 278

After Christmas, Molly spent three days with the Cedillo family.

That afternoon, Chad went to pick her up. He had made a point to go home and change his clothes, shave, and then came to the Cedillo family with gifts.

At that time, the Cedillo family was preparing gifts for Molly to take to the Byrne family.

"Molly." Chad called out.

Turning around, Molly saw her brother had come to pick her up. She put down what she was holding and ran towards Chad, "My dad insisted that I take some gifts home."

"Hey, Chad's here, have a seat. Naomi, Bruce, Mia, come out, Chad's here." Hansen called out to his son and daughter-in-law from the living room, and they quickly appeared.

Chad explained why he had come; he was there to pick up Molly. After sitting with the Cedillo family for a while, he used the excuse of having something to do and left with his sister. On the way home, Chad asked her, "Did anything happen with Leo and Mia?"

"If I didn't call you, then nothing happened. Mia went out to get gift cards the day before yesterday, and she went home yesterday." Molly said.

That evening, Mia went to bed early.

No trouble whatsoever.

Chad said, "She went home yesterday, and dad's sister also came and is still at our house today."

Mr. Kendrick had a sister who was hard to get along with and spoke unpleasantly. Molly remembered when she was young, her mother was busy with work and didn't have time to take care of the kids, so they had a nanny. This lady always sarcastically said, "Women should put family first. It's men's job to work. You working all day is just embarrassing my brother. You have kids but don't take care of them, why did you have them? You're rich so you hire a nanny, but if you let me take care of them, I'd charge less. You ask someone else to take care of them. What if they abuse your kids? You won't even know. If someone poisons your kids' food, you'll regret it."

Young Coleen was often upset by her. Her husband and children didn't say anything but she had to express her opinion which no one asked.

She even tried to ruin the relationship between Molly's grandmother and Coleen. Fortunately, the Byrne family's grandmother, although not high in aesthetic taste, was clear-minded. She fully supported her daughter-in-law's career, "Women shouldn't revolve around the kitchen, preparing meals for their husband's family all day. Chad and Jade are grown up, they're at school all day, and they don't need us to take care of them. I support my daughter-in-law in starting a business. If you don't learn, that's fine, but don't hold us back." At that time, Mr. Kendrick was working in his hometown. He knew about the situation at home, and he would often console his wife after work, "If you think my sister's words are unpleasant, you can talk back. I'll help you."

"What if she hits me?" Coleen asked.

"I'll help you block her." Mr. Kendrick said.

When they got home, Molly was taken to the bedroom by her parents and punished to stand. They asked her, "Do you understand what you said today?"

Molly nodded, "She's always bullying my mom. I'm young, if I mess her up, she doesn't dare hit me. If she dares to hit me, I'll roll on the floor and cry, as long as she's not afraid of getting embarrassed."

At home, Molly was never one to be messed with.

Hearing these words, Coleen was very angry. Holding her daughter, she said, "My daughter won't get married in the future."

This really ticked off Mr. Kendrick's sister, and she marched up to her brother, trying to drive a wedge between him and Coleen, "You're just an ordinary employee. Although you make a few thousand a year, but your wife's out there running her own business, raking in hundreds of thousands each month. She's met way more men than you. Do you really think she'd wanna stick with you? What if some guy catches her eye and she divorces you? Listen, Chad's the heir to the Byrne family. We can't have him getting all chummy with his mother. Molly's just a girl, so we don't have to worry about her."

Mr. Kendrick promptly shoved his sister out of his office, warning her, "Don't you dare show up here again."

"What's got your knickers in a twist? I'm just looking out for you." She said.

When Coleen found out about this, she was so livid she felt like marching over to Mr. Kendrick's sister's house for a brawl. But her kids and husband talked her down, reminding her not to lose her cool. Trust from family was the best kind of support.

Eventually, Mr. Kendrick managed to relocate to Havenbrook because of a job transfer. His family life became much more peaceful. Without his sister stirring the pot, Coleen's business thrived even more.

Later on, it seemed like Mr. Kendrick's sister got divorced. She stayed at her brother's house for a week, crying every day.

Jade would sit on the steps every day, watching her cry. She asked Coleen, "She just got a divorce, right? What's she crying about? So fragile. Can't she live her own life after a divorce?"

"Mind your own business. Go do your homework with your brother." Coleen said.

Later, Coleen gave her some money to go on a vacation and clear her head.

Finally, the Byrne family had their peace back.
