Scene 75

Allison throws herself into my arms, screaming. I almost fall over but I hold her close. After her, Stiles comes to hug me too and I nearly choke him.

Stiles: Where were you… I was so scared… you weren’t anywhere…

I look at him tenderly and k**s him. Finally, I’m back home.

later

Scott: You… you were with…

Me: Marie-Jane Valet. Allison and the beast’s ancestor.

Allison: And… what was it like?

Me: Strange, scary and disorientating. There was no electricity, no house like this… on the other hand, if my friend from the past listened to my request, I know how to defeat her.

Scott: It’s good timing, because we’ve found Masson.

Me: What? He’s… he’s okay?

They all look at each other, embarrassed, before Stiles speaks.

Stiles: Sebastian has taken possession of Masson. Masson’s stuck in Sebastian’s head now.

Stiles: And that’s not all. He’s attacked Lydia, who’s our only chance of getting Masson back.

Stiles: Oh, no.

Me: Go to the hospital and ask Mum to do everything she can to cure Lydia.

Allison: And you? Where are you going?

Me : To find the thing that will save us all

Later on

Me : That’s impossible! She promised me!

Chris: Who?

Me: It’s not important! Are you sure you don’t have any old spears?

Chris: No, but… if anyone should have it, it wouldn’t be me…

Me: Not him…

Gérard: Do you need anything?

I look at his cane. Gerard’s never had a cane before. So…

Me: Yes! I f*****g love you Marie-Jane!

I run, grab the cane without Gérard being able to do anything and teleport myself to the hospital.

Me: Lydia!

Lydia: Ha…

I run to pick her up, taking care not to hurt her, and look at my mother, who is waiting for the signal to inject Lydia with the product. Lydia nods and Mum removes the bandage from her neck to insert the needle. We hear a body fall. I was sure it would be Stiles, but it’s Liam. Mum takes advantage of the distraction to inject Lydia, who nearly breaks my hand in pain. I wish I could cure her.

Once Lydia’s dressed, I teleport us to Sébastien’s position. The underground tunnels. When we land, I fall to the ground

Scott : Are you alright?

Me: Too many people… you go on ahead, I’ll join you.

Allison: I’ll stay with you.

Lydia: Me too

I nod and the pack take off running. I take a deep breath

Lydia: I’m stressed.

Me: Everything’s going to be fine

I hope it will.

Later

Me: Lydia be careful!

Théo pushes Lydia into a hole but I jump out and grab her by the arm. I try to get her up but Theo sticks a needle in my back.

Theo: Kanima venom. Good luck!

And off he runs. I look at Lydia who nods and I let go of her to teleport her next to me. The girls put me on my back.

Me: Go on…

Allison: Hannah we’re not leaving you here silly!

Me: Thank you… for a moment I was afraid you were going to leave me here…

I see a smile on their lips. Unfortunately, this little moment of joy is cut short by Scott’s scream. I try as hard as I can to get my limbs moving again and soon find myself running through these long tunnels. By the time we reach the battle, Theo and Scott are on the ground and not moving.

Me: No!

I propel Sébastien far into the tunnels and run to my brother. He’s still breathing.

Scott: Hannah… I… He’s taken a poison…

No… I can’t heal him… a huge bloody wound covers his belly and a black liquid flows from it. I grab my brother’s hand and squeeze to stop myself crying.

Scott: I’m… I’m sorry I… I didn’t believe you… I…

Me: Scott, shut up!

I sniffle to swallow back the tears that are about to come out. I’ve said many times that I wanted to stop being weak. I’m finally going to listen to myself. I put my hand on his wound and squeeze his hand. After a few seconds, I can finally see his wound healing. His stomach goes back to normal and he opens his eyes wide

Scott: How did you do that?

I smile until my cheeks hurt.

Me: I’m here, sister of an Alpha

He smiles and we hear Lydia’s scream

Lydia: MASSON!

Immediately, a cloud of smoke surrounds the beast and Masson appears. The beast flies over us like a ghost. I stand up, take the blade out of its cane-shaped sheath and throw it at the beast, which disappears.

We all look at each other, until

until Theo stands up angrily

Theo: Do you really think you can stop me?!? You/

Me: Theo!

I raise my Katana

Me: Your sister wants to talk to you!

I thrust my Katana into the ground, which cracks until it reaches Theo’s foot. His sister’s body comes out and grabs his legs. Theo struggles, screams and cries for help. I lean towards him

Me: Don’t touch my pack, Raeken!

He screams even more and I push him. The ground closes in and we all look at each other.

Lydia: Hannah, you…

Me: Oh yes, sorry!

I’m going to heal his disappearing wound. Is it all… over?

5 years later

Five years have passed since we went to secondary school. Many things have happened and miraculously, none of them were supernatural. The doctors have disappeared completely but if they come back we’ll be ready to stop them a second time.

I spent months wondering where I wanted to go next and ended up as a police officer solving murders, supernatural or not, and I have to say I love my job.

As for Scott and Allison, they’ve finally got together and are living in perfect happiness in their San Francisco flat, twenty minutes from Stiles’ and mine.

We’re trying as hard as we can to stop using our powers and finally have an almost normal life, at least in appearance.

All the adventures, both painful and happy, have shaped who we’ve become and without all that, I’d still be the teenager who finds her life boring. I’ve never told anyone about my life before I knew about my brother and my mother, but in fact I was the shy little girl that people liked to make fun of. That’s why I had no regrets about leaving almost six years ago. I smile as I think back to that crazy day that started my story, because without it, I wouldn’t be with the person I love most in the world, I’d probably still be wondering about my future and, above all, I wouldn’t be surrounded by all those people who make my life so wonderful.

Hannah! Get out of the moon! We’ve arrived

I shake my head and smile

Me: Sorry

Stiles smiles at me and we get out of the Jeep. Yes, it’s that old car that only works once in a while. At least now I’ve given Stiles a repair tool kit but he loses it all the time so good old duct tape is still the best repair option.

I get the cake out of the car and meet Stiles at the front door.

Without even ringing the bell, Scott and Allison open the door with Lydia in the back. We hug and sit down in the small living room of their flat. If you’re wondering why we’re getting together, it’s because we’ve all been getting together at least once a week since we left for university.

Allison: Hannah, would you like a glass of wine?

Me: Er, no thanks! I’m staying in tonight!

She nods and brings us our drinks, non-alcoholic for me. Lydia comes back from the bathroom and looks at my glass of water.

Lydia: Well, Hannah, since when have you refused wine?

I look at Stiles for approval and he shakes my hand. I put my available hand on my stomach. Lydia and Allison immediately start getting annoyed as usual

Scott: What? What’s going on?

Lydia: You’re going to be an uncle, that’s what!

Scott: What?

Allison: Hannah’s pregnant!

I smile. Stiles and I weren’t necessarily looking to become parents now, but when we heard the news we were both over the moon.

I smile lovingly at my boyfriend and we talk baby talk all evening.

I love my life. It’s full of wonderful people and soon there’ll be another one.
