Scene 59

I wake up with a start in the middle of the night. A nightmare. Another f*****g nightmare showing me that the future hasn’t changed. Except this time it has, Stiles is by my side and he’s pushing me back into bed.

Stiles: Another nightmare?

Me: Yes…

Stiles: Do you want to talk about it?

Me: Don’t worry, it’s not real.

I look into his eyes. I wish he could see the pain this premonition is causing me. That it’s destroying my heart at the mere idea of losing him, but it’s impossible because there’s no light in the room and I couldn’t forgive myself for worrying him. If it’s going to happen, I want to have a good time with him and not spend all my time trying to stop it from happening anyway.

Later on

Stiles sleeps like a baby but I can’t. I look at the clock. I look at the clock. One o’clock in the morning. By that time the “catch Doctor Evil and protect Hayden” plan must be finished. I take my phone from the bedside table and send a message to Scott, Lydia and Allison by group text

No reply. They should have turned off the scramblers. Unless they forgot. Or something happened… oh no!

I stroke my lover’s face to gently wake him up

Me: I’m going to make sure everything’s okay at school, I’ll be right back.

Stiles: Be careful, I love you

Me: I love you too

I put my lips to his forehead and step out of the comfort of the covers to slip on my jeans and a jacket over my nightdress.

I teleport to the front of the school and turn on the torch on my phone to find my way inside.

It’s so creepy at night at school! The long corridors full of dark doors and the dead silence. I don’t want to scream in case one of the doctors finds me.

I reach the boys’ changing rooms. I try to open the door but it’s locked. I blow and teleport to the other side.

An arrow flies and I avoid it at the last second.

Me: What’s wrong, Allison?

Allison: Hannah!

Her arms are around me and I smile. She’s fine.

Me: Where are the others?

Allison: I don’t know. The doctors locked me in here and the others are somewhere else.

Me: What about Hayden?

She shrugs. Oh shit. Before we teleport, I see the scrambler and turn it off. That might come in handy.

Later

They hallucinated. The doctors took Hayden and Liam away and gave everyone horrible hallucinations. It’s thanks to Masson that they’re back to normal. I should have been there.

Stiles comes running into the school and I go to see him. He’s the reason I couldn’t protect them.

Me: WHY! Why did you make me stay!!! Liam and Hayden might be DEAD!!!

I take a long look at him and burst into tears. I’m sick of crying. Sick of worrying every minute about everyone else. Why can’t our lives just be simple?

No. Stop, Hannah. I have to stop being weak. Stop thinking I’m defeated. I’m gonna find Hayden and Liam. I’m gonna save my friends from the future. I’m gonna make it. I have to make it.
