I told Orion that I needed to use the bathroom and that I remembered the way. He did not seem suspicious at all. He was happy, even humming to himself at times during breakfast. As soon as I was out of his sight and earshot, I ran around the hallways frantically. I found my way upstairs. I managed to find the bedroom I had slept in with Orion. I reasoned that all the best bedrooms would be along the same hallway so I started checking rooms near to that one.

I ran down the hallway. As the rooms were so large, the hallways were long and winding and the doors were far apart. I found another luxurious bedroom. I checked the closet. It was empty. The bathroom was empty. I was starting to get frazzled. Where was my friend?

I heard a noise. I followed it. The noise grew louder. It sounded like someone was in trouble. It was a female voice. Rose! I darted towards the sound, flinging open doors as I want. I did not want to call her name less I alert Orion to my whereabouts. I was supposed to be just using the bathroom. The cries grew louder. My heart beat faster. I ran as fast as I could. I flung open another set of doors and at last, I found Rose. She was not alone and I was not prepared for what I saw.

Rose was underneath Perseus, her legs wide open. They were both completely naked. Perseus had himself buried to the hilt in her and he leant over her kissing her neck. She writhed under him, eyes closed, moaning and whimpering. Perseus’ eyes were coal-black. He bared his canines, his sharp teeth nearing her vulnerable neck. Was he going to bite her? Was he going to drain her of b***d? He was forcing her. She had barely wanted to hug him yesterday. I let out a cry of rage.

“STOP!” I shrieked.

My yell snapped both Rose and Perseus out of their trance. Rose blinked a few times, opening her eyes slowly. She seemed weak. Perseus growled. He snapped and snarled at me. He relinquished Rose and charged at me, midair he transformed. One moment he was a large blond man and then the next a sandy coloured wolf. I was so shocked. Everything I knew about the world was wrong. I blacked out before Perseus could reach me.

I was shaken awake by strong arms. It was Orion. I wrapped my arms around him instinctively. His hands stroked my hair. I slowly opened my eyes. I was in Orion’s lap and he was sitting on the floor. We were in the very bedroom I had just fainted in. I looked around for the wolf. I spotted Perseus, a blonde man again, standing nearby looking annoyed. Rose was still in the bed clutching the covers to her. She regarded me with worried eyes.

“What happened?” Orion’s deep voice made me look at him.

Before I could speak, Perseus did. I realised Orion had directed the question at his brother.

“I was about to mark Rose when your mate burst in the room and tried to stop me. I transformed instinctively. It was such a shock to be interrupted at that moment. I meant her no harm. She fainted from fright though,” Perseus said.

The way he told it made me sound a lot less heroic. I would deal with the werewolf part of this later. My mind could not handle it.

“He was forcing Rose! She barely wanted to hug him yesterday and today I found him naked on top of her. Her cries led me to this room,” I informed Orion.

Orion snorted with laughter. Perseus rolled his eyes at me and paced the floor. He was in a robe now.

“Let Rose speak for herself,” said Perseus simply.

Rose came to the edge of the bed to be closer to Orion and me. She still looked weak but relatively unharmed. The ring around her neck had healed without a scar as if it never existed. I touched my still very visible bruise on my cheek. I sighed. Rose’s soft voice soothed me but I did not like her words.

“Orchid, Perseus was not forcing me. He’s my mate. I wanted to be with him,” she said.

Perseus smiled.

“You didn’t yesterday!” I protested. She could easily be lying out of fear of Perseus.

“Enough,” said Orion and everyone looked at him. He was a natural leader.

“You bypassed the bathroom you said you were going to,” Orion said to me. “Did you lie?”

I could not afford to have both brothers angry with me. I needed Orion.

“No, Baby,” I whispered. “Can you please take me to the bathroom now? I was distracted, thinking my friend was in trouble.”

Perseus laughed dryly. He was reacting to the way I spoke to his brother.

“Brother, she is an actress,” he said. He clapped as if to congratulate me on my performance.

I clung to Orion. He lifted me effortlessly, carrying me bridal style from the room. I peered over his shoulder at Rose, still worried about her. She looked surprised at my closeness with Orion. She was undoubtedly faking too. Perseus approached her, caressing her cheeks, his eyes drank her in. The door shut on the scene. I grumbled inwardly.
