Sold To The Billionaire Alpha -
Chapter 13
“What?” I whispered, confused. “What do you mean realm? This is a gated community on the island.”
The girls laughed scandalously.
“What are you talking about, love?” Said the first one, sounding as though she actually felt sorry for me.
“Gated community, well yeah but it’s a fortress technically, but we’re not on an island,” she said.
“We’re in northern werewolf country, you didn’t realise when you left the human realm. You must have passed through a portal to get here,” said her friend.
I dropped the platter. The girls screamed as cake fell on their gowns. Orion looked furious until he caught sight of my expression. He moved the platter aside, carelessly allowing it to clatter to the ground. He ignored the cream and chocolate now staining his suit. He stood up, towering over me. Rose sprang to her feet and so did Perseus.
“I can never get back home,” I whispered to Orion, my eyes brimming with tears. “I thought I was one hitch-hiked ride away from home. I’m not even in the same…world anymore.”
My anger was rising but tears streamed down my face ruining the effect.
“You knew I thought I wasn’t far from home, didn’t you? That’s why you avoided those questions that night but answered all the others,” I snapped at him, my voice cracking, my tears flowing freely.
I looked down. I did not want to look at him anymore. I could never get home without his explicit help and consent and I would never get that. He would rather throw me in a dungeon when I did something wrong than be rid of me. I heard his sharp intake of breath.
“Go back to the kitchen! Your punishment is not over,” he said softly but dangerously.
A maid had come rushing forwards and was wiping his suit. Two other maids were assisting the annoying ladies on the couch.
“My punishment will never be over because of you,” I said to him, meeting his eyes. He looked like I had slapped him. I ran from the room. Bisa followed behind. I was searching for the breakfast room. I knew the way from there. I found it. I felt so hopeless.
“What are you doing, Luna?” Bisa squealed, tailing me.
I ran up the stairs I remembered from a few days ago. She followed me hesitantly. I found Orion’s bedroom unlocked. I decided to try something.
“Please, leave me, Bisa, your Luna needs a moment,” I tried.
I was out of my mind with grief, my parents’ faces flashing in my mind, their laughter, their frowns, their smiles. I thought about all my little animals, the sweet kittens and my loyal small dog, Mighty. I hoped Orion would continue to care for them out of guilt. Bisa dutifully exited the room. I walked across to the glass doors. They clicked open. I thanked my lucky stars they were unlocked. Or perhaps, I thanked my unlucky stars.
The wind tossed my already tangled curls back as I walked to the balcony’s railing. This world was beautiful. The moon and stars looked so close. A shooting star shot across the sky. I had never seen one before but I did not make a wish. I climbed over the railing and stood on the outside ledge, looking at the ground below. It was so dark I could not see what lay below. I hoped it was not glass or thorns or some other horror, just grass or concrete. This mansion was nothing but a large and luxurious cage unlike the cramped one from the Caro’s cellar. I refused to be a pet or a prisoner. I had to flee this cage in any way possible. I took a deep breath. I jumped.
Third Person
A nagging suspicion made Bisa disobey her future Luna. She went back into the Alpha’s bedroom, trembling. It was a great feat for her, a kitchen worker to brave going in there. It was off-limits unless explicit orders were given but she was worried about her future Luna. She could not believe her luck, to be well-liked by her future Luna who was caring and sweet. Bisa felt sorry for her. Alpha Orion seemed such a sharp contrast to the future Luna’s soft demeanour.
The Alpha’s bedroom was empty. There were double doors made of glass directly across from her. They were open. She ran to the balcony. Fear and panic gripped her. She looked down. She screamed. She ran at werewolf speed to find the Alpha.
“Alpha, Alpha,” she shrieked. “Come quickly!”
She yelled at the top of her lungs as she burst into the party room. All the pack leaders and their mates, noble men and their wives and rich merchants looked at her. She darted to the couch where a sullen Orion was ignoring his two glamorous companions as they fawned over him, trying to get his attention. Perseus and Rose stopped kissing to look at Bisa. Orion’s eyes went to Bisa. He recognised her as the server that his mate had been with a few minutes ago.
“What is the meaning of this?” Inquired Niko, annoyed, grabbing Bisa, trying to pull her away from the Alpha. Bisa fought her way out of Niko’s grip.
“Alpha, come immediately!” Bisa shrieked.
“Don’t you dare command the Alpha!” Screamed Niko.
The crowd was looking on in interest.
“It’s about Luna Orchid!” Yelled Bisa, sobbing. “She went to your chambers. She sent me away so I couldn’t stop her. But I went back to your chambers.”
“The Alpha’s chambers,” roared Niko, beside herself.
Perseus glared at Bisa. Rose looked concerned.
“Stop her doing what?” Asked Orion, his eyes confused.
“I’m so sorry, please, I’m so sorry,” sobbed Bisa. “She jumped! She jumped from the balcony! She was aggrieved, Alpha.”
Niko gasped and stepped away from Bisa.
“No!” Screamed Rose, beginning to wail. Perseus tightened his grip on her. His eyes were wide and worried but focused on his brother.
Orion sprang to this feet. The ladies tried to accompany him but he roughly tugged away from. In a flash he was upstairs and on his own balcony. His hawk-like eyesight allowed him to see in the seemingly impenetrable dark. Orchid was floating face-down in the huge pool that was under his balcony.
