Sky’s Rejection Chapter 47

(Dimitri’s POV)

I just finished making love with my mate, something I will always enjoy and so will Demon. I could feel something was off with her, something was bothering her. I felt she wanted to talk to me but was hesitating. So I distracted her. I have relaxed with her now. I just hope she will talk to me.

‘You shouldn’t be judging her when you are keeping information from her as well.’ Demon growls in annoyance. If it was up to him she would know every little thing and have to worry just as much as we do. You know we can’t tell her without her worrying, I thought back as I felt him grumble in anger. He is never satisfied unless we always do what he thinks is right.

I want to tell her everything, but I already have my best men, Dean and Mark, on the case. Father supervises them when I am away and I will supervise them once I am back. We have this under control, so why let my mate worry about this and top it off? Why wouldn’t she want to tell me what is bothering her? I am her mate, she should be able to lean on me.

‘She is our mate. Though you are hiding important things from her,’ Demon taunted. Do you ever shut up? I thought back in anger before closing the link. I can’t deal with him right now. I need to think.

I feel Sky snuggle closer to me as she sighs in content, her breathing still even showing me she hasn’t awoken yet. Maybe Demon is right. Am I wrong in thinking it is okay to not tell her what has recently happened but wanting her to tell me what she is so nervous about?

Maybe I should tell her.

Would that make her open up to me?

*Flashback*

“Alpha.” One of my warriors, Ian, exclaims as he bursts into my office. I want to be mad. How dare he enter my office without asking permission first? I am the Alpha and he obviously does not respect the boundaries that are in place.

I growled in warning for him to correct his disrespectful manor before I corrected it for him. Before I could reprimand him, I took in note his scared and protective facial expressions. Something had happened. “I will let you off the hook this one time, but if you ever disrespect me like that again, it will be the last time you take a breath.”

He nodded his head, as he was still trying to catch his breath. He dropped an envelope down on my desk, covered in b***d as he bent over in respect. I could feel the respect and sincerity radiating off him, making me sigh. “Leave.” I mumbled, trying to mask my anger the best I could.

As soon as the door shut, I turned my focus back on to the problem at hand. This note. What the hell was it to get the reaction it did out of one of my best warriors? I took a few deep breaths before opening the note. My body froze, my anger rose to levels I never thought possible. Demon growled in anger and possessiveness. I could feel him clawing at my head, trying with all his strength to get out. If I didn’t have control and focus right now, he would go on a killing spree. My body feels as if it is on fire with anger pulsating through my veins and I am honestly afraid I will lose control this time. He wanted to tear this person apart, he wanted to hunt until this person took their last breath and right now I couldn’t agree more with him. I honestly couldn’t think of the reasons I should hold on, the reasons I should think responsibly.

As soon as I have my soon to be bride by my side, we will rule the entirety of the species.

My bride and I will take control.

Thanks for keeping her safe for so long, but now she belongs with me.

‘Who the f**k is ‘A’? I need answers now. Let me smell.’ Demon demanded. I could feel him losing control and I honestly could care less. I felt the same. How dare someone threaten to take my mate. I will fight anyone any day for the Kingdom. But Sky is mine, there is no choice or option to have her and this person thinks he can just walk away with her. I don’t think so. He will never find her. I took the note, placing it up against my nose. I feel Demon stirring but he can’t pinpoint the full scent.

‘Vampire. I don’t know who but I know it is a vamp. We will hunt him and kill him before he even comes close to our mate.’ Demon growls. I feel the hairs on my back standing in defense as fur starts to slowly sprout from my skin.

Sky takes my face between both of her hands, as she swings her body into a sitting position on top of me. “I will tell you if you promise to calm down.” I nod as I watch her and try to control my breathing. I felt Demon joining in helping me and sitting still as if any movement would scare her into not telling me. Her hands stay glued to my cheeks, but her eyes wander off to the side table beside the bed. As if she can’t keep eye contact because of this. What could be so bad?
