Sky’s Rejection Chapter 20

(Royal Alpha Dimitri’s POV)

“Well, I think that went well?” Dean said sarcastically.

“Why did Ty freak out so much about the name of that pack and what were those two talking about privately?” Mark pondered. I feel he may have been speaking to himself.

‘I think it has something to do with mate. He seemed protective of her.’ Demon comments and I can’t help but agree. I do feel that his reaction had something to do with Sky and I will find out.

“I don’t know, but I will be finding out. I don’t understand why she won’t just sit down and listen to me. I didn’t sleep with her.”

Mark rolled his eyes, “Sure.”

“Mark.” Dean told him sternly, causing him to shut up before I blew up on him. Before I can comment on Mark’s comment, a wave of panic hits me. My pack is in trouble.

‘Rogues.’ Rings through the link. No, my mate had just left the room. Rogues can’t be on my territory. How did I not feel them intrude onto my land?

‘How dare they enter our land? Sorry, Dimitri. I wasn’t focused on the Pack, I was trying to convince mate’s wolf to come back. I need her. We need her.’ Demon commented apologetically in my head. Of course, I am not mad at him, I am just hoping nothing has happened to our mate.

“s**t, where is Ariel?” Dean asked as he looked between Mark and I’s worried faces. Where could his mate be that he was this worried?

“She went after Sky.” Mark whispered as he stared out into space. I am sure he is trying to link with his mate right now. Where would she go after Sky?

“Why did she go after her?” I asked in confusion. Not understanding why Ariel would care or even try to stop her.

“They are best friends, you didn’t know that,” Dean said in a duh tone. I could hear the panic in his tone, now worried about Ariel too.

‘ We haven’t spotted the rogues yet, Alpha.’ A warrior named Jeffry linked.

‘We have to go find them. What if they have our mate?’ Demon panicked. Not helping me at all here, Demon, I responded in frustration. I know we need to find her and just pray the rogues haven’t gotten to them.

‘Let me know as soon as you do.’ I linked back to him, receiving a Yes Alpha in response. I came to focus back on Dean and Mark when a new mind link pushed through.

‘Have you seen your mother, son? I have been looking for her everywhere and I can’t find her.’ Father linked to me, causing panic to shoot through me more. s**t, now Ariel and Sky are out there where the rogues could find them and my mother is missing. I have to go find all three of them and make sure they are safe.

“We have to go find them, NOW” I commanded as I got up and ran out the door.

‘We will kill them all if they hurt our mate.’ Demon growls, and I can’t agree more with him.

‘I spotted ten rogues, one in human form. You should see this Alpha.’ Jeffry linked worriedly. What could possibly be worrying him? They are top – notched trained.

‘Where?’ I asked as I shifted into Demon and waited for a location.

‘North west boarder sir.’ He replied back, I didn’t bother to respond and took off towards the rogues. I will find my mate after. First I need to take care of these scums.

As I arrived on the north west boarder I saw my men just standing there. Why would they just be standing around? They should either be killing these rogues or detaining them. I looked past them and saw a scene I would have never imagined in a thousand years.

‘Take Mark back to the pack house, NOW’ I linked to Dean, though I forgot that I still had Mark open on our link. s**t.

‘ No, why would I need to go back to the house? I need to be here helping you and then I need to find my mate. I think she is hurt, I can’t connect with her anymore.’ Mark linked in a panic, as he burst through the crowd and in front of me.

The scene was worse than a nightmare. I felt the pain of so many as they all felt the link snap with our gamma female. I watched as the last rogue fell to the ground. His head rolled to the opposite side of the field. High Alpha Ty is standing over two rogue wolves as he stares at Sky with concern. Why is he looking at her like that? Did she get hurt?

Before I can voice my questions, Mark screams in horror as Sky drops to the ground, cradling Ariel to her as I see one single tear fall down her cheek.

“MY MATE. MY f*****g MATE AND PUP. Ariel, wake up please. Moon Goddess help my mate and pup.” Mark screamed into the sky as he fell to his knees. Dean walked over comforting him as I began walking towards my mate. I reached her just as she lost consciousness, as I scooped her into my arms.

“Get the Pack doctor and meet me in the hospital. Bring my mother there too. I will have father meet us there.” I spoke out as I took off as fast as I could back towards the hospital. Her heart beat was slowing as I heard two new heart beats pick up. I picked up my speed, not knowing what to do. Then a large gasp of breath from behind me.

I heard Dean yell, ” She’s alive, how the f**k is she alive?”

(Sky’s POV)

My entire body felt as if it had been hit by a truck and then reversed over. Everything hurt. Forcing my eyes open, I g*****d, trying to roll to my side to avoid the light. I successfully roll over, only to not recognize the room I am in. This isn’t Dimitri’s room?

Where am I?

I jumped into a sitting position, looking around, only to see Dimitri’s head next to my lap. I glance at the IV placed in my arm, the steady beeping from the bedside monitor on the left side of me, the wires attached all over my chest and .. oh goddess, my eyes go wide as I realize I am stark naked. I pull the sheet tightly around me, I am in a hospital room of some sort. Dean was sleeping in a chair at the end of my bed. The only one of the trio missing was Mark.

How the hell did I get here? Am I missing something because I have no memory of coming here? The last thing I remember is watching Ariel collapse to the ground as a rogue tore into her neck. The panic I felt from listening to her heart beat slowly stop right in front of me. I have never felt lost and pain like this since my parents died.

I lift my hand, slowly brushing it through Dimitri’s hair, enjoying the sparks from our contact. I just want a little time with him before placing my act back on my face. A silent tear slips down my cheek, maybe at some point I will actually be able to open up to him. I cup his cheek, loving the look of his relaxed face. He k****s my palm, and I feel tingles that are so addicting rush over me.

“I love you.” Dimitri mumbled in his sleep, and I chuckled slightly at his unknown tired words. Did he really mean that? Could he have meant it to me? His head snaps up as I continue laughing at his sleeping talk.

“Sky?” Dimitri gasped in a questioning way, as if my face wasn’t real. He stared at me for a few seconds, before clamping his hands on my face. He slowly squished my cheeks together, and I could tell that he was still half asleep, as his eyes glazed over slightly still. My lips must resemble a fish now as he continues squeezing my face between his palms like he couldn’t believe I was actually here and this wasn’t a dream. Not that I know if he dreams about me, though I hope he does, knowing I have dreamt about him.

Why was he acting like that?

“You are squishing my face, could you please let go?” I asked with a raised eyebrow. Suddenly his eyes widened in recognition, he must have finally realized I was not a dream. Didn’t he recognize who I was or was he still partly asleep? Does that mean that him saying, ‘I love you’ was feelings for someone else? I had so many questions, though for some reason I felt as if my mind couldn’t process anything.

What happened to me that I can’t remember?

“SKY!!” Dimitri exclaims, as he lets go of my face. I rub my cheeks, stretching my face back out and trying to make them stop tingling. Before I knew what was happening, his lips crashed down on mine, almost frantically.

What the hell?

I shove him back, as his tongue invades my mouth. He may be my second – chance mate, but he has no right to k**s me until I permit him to. Though as he slowly releases me and looks towards me in shock, I can’t help but miss the warmth and tingles his k**s was giving me. I suck in the much – needed air he deprived me of.

“Goddess, what has gotten into you? We haven’t even had a proper conversation and you think you can just k**s me.” I exclaimed, completely shocked he thought this an appropriate time to do that. He falls completely silent, just staring at me before dropping his head. I hate seeing him like this, it does something inside me. Though I also know I am not over him sleeping with another she – wolf when he knew he had a mate. I wish I knew what he was feeling right now. I just stared at him, trying to decipher his thoughts.

“Sky, you’re awake. Thank goddess. I was so worried, I thought you were gone and never coming back. Don’t scare me like that.” Ty rambles as he bursts through the door, looking at me in relief and causing Dean to jump out of his seat. Litterally startled awake.

“Ty, calm down, I will never leave you. Why would you even think that?” I asked in confusion as I grabbed his hand to reassure him. I slightly smiled at him as he sighed in relief, trying to calm his heart rate.

“Don’t you remember the rogues?” Dean questioned, as he looked at me in relief too. Last, I remember leaving with Ty and hearing Ariel try to stop us. What rogues is he talking about? I rack my brain trying to figure it out. We came to help with the rogue problem. We found traitors and have been monitoring the rogues. What encounter are they talking about? A light bulb shines in my head, as everything suddenly smashes back into me and slowly suffocates me. It wasn’t just a dream. Holy s**t, it really happened. But how? I was so sure that it was a nightmare I had conjured up, tears blurred my eyes. s**t, don’t show any weakness Sky. A living nightmare.

The rogues showed up and the attack was real. It wasn’t just a horrible nightmare that my imagination conjured up. All of it really happened. Ariel and the baby are dead. Goddess, how is Mark handling this right now? Where is Angel? Is she okay? I can’t get through life without her. My mind was reeling as I tried to piece together the events, but all I could see was Ariel’s vacant eyes staring back at me as I looked down at her b***d – soaked body lying motionless in the field.

“Oh Goddess.” I gasped, panic displayed all over my face. My friend, my best – friend, was dead. Her baby gone with her. Mark is now mateless and childless. How could this happen? Why couldn’t I save her? Oh goddess, Dimitri’s mom was with us. Is she okay? Did she die like Ariel?

“Sky, calm down and just breathe.” Ty told me in a calming manner, trying to help me relax. Though I know I won’t be able to until I know if those two are alright and if my wolf is okay. How do I calm down before that?

“Ariel? The baby? Queen Samantha? Are they alright?” I asked as I jumped out of the hospital, looking around in a panic. Mark isn’t here. That’s a bad sign, right? Wait, maybe it means he is with her and she is alive. I have to find them.

“Sky, calm down please. Ariel and the baby are fine, thanks to you. Mother is fine too. She is the former Queen Luna after all.” Dimitri jokes, with a playful smile on his face. He’s so handsome when he smiles. Who am I kidding? He is always handsome.

“What do you mean thanks to me?” I questioned in confusion. I watched her die. I watched the rogue attack Samantha. Ty looks at us in confusion. Maybe it’s because I am actually responding to him and, without a snarky come back for once. I am still mad at him, but knowing if my friend and her baby are okay matters more.

Before anyone could answer me, Mark burst through the door, ” Thank you, Thank you, Thank you. I can’t show how much I appreciate you saving Ariel and our pup. I don’t know what I would do without them. Thank you, Sky.”

“She’s my friend, of course I would save them. Though I still don’t understand how I did that. The last thing I remember is her vacant eyes staring at me.” I said in complete and utter confusion. I can’t save a dead person, so maybe they were mistaken.

‘They were not.’ Someone says in my head. I looked around and it seemed like no one else heard it. As they all continue with their own conversations. As it seems, those four moved on to how the rogues got that far on to the pack land in the first place.

Who are you? Only Angel should be inside my head. Wait, did you hurt her? I swear if you hurt Angel anyway, I start to flip on this voice before it cuts me off with a chuckle. I guess finding some kind of entertainment from me.

‘I didn’t hurt Angel. Feel around she is still here with us, just resting right now. I am Rain, your witch counterpart. We, together, healed Ariel and her pup. I can’t wait to meet the pup. I love little ones. Sorry, I got side tracked. As I was saying, I have always been here with you but I was sitting in the shadows. You should have gotten me at sixteen, but because Angel had to come be with you so early, it took me a little longer to come out. Though I am here now.’ Rain told me so fast it was hardly understandable.

‘Well, well, well, seems miss talker has finally woken up from her slumber. Why did you take so long? I was over here trying to convince Sky to accept our second – chance mate and your sitting around enjoying the show. This is our last chance and I know you want our mate too.’ Angel says, making me want to scream in excitement. She’s back. Wait a second, she knew about Rain and didn’t tell me. The nerve of that wolf.

‘I can hear you.’ Angel sings – songs in my head, making me chuckle out loud. s**t. I slammed my hand over my mouth and looked at everyone staring at me.

“What’s so funny?” Ty asked with amusement. I am thinking this wasn’t an appropriate time to laugh.

Ariel bursts into the room before I can answer as she jumps on to my bed. I g***n from the impact, causing Dimitri and Ty to growl lightly at her. I growl back at them in a protective way, as I watch Mark wanting to protect his mate and pup but not wanting to challenge his Alpha.

“I am so happy you’re alive.” I exclaimed as I wrapped my arms tightly around her, though avoiding the little pup.

“You would think because you saved my life you would want to keep me alive and not strangle me to death.” Ariel chuckles, as she wraps her arms around me, I loosen my grip slightly and look at her, really taking her in. “Thanks for saving me. You, Angel and Rain are life savers.”

“Who’s Rain?” The guys asked, making me roll my eyes. s**t, how do I explain this without giving up who I really am?

‘Maybe it is time to tell them.’ Angel comments.

‘We are right here with you. We can kick all their asses if we need to. Oh goddess, can you imagine what Dimitri’s a*s looks like? Screw it, don’t tell them, let’s beat their asses instead so we can see our mate naked.’ Rain hammers away, getting side tracked way too much. I think she has some attention problems. Also, she is just as much a horn – dog than Angel.

‘Do not call us dogs.’ Angel and Rain exclaim. Man, these two are going to be fun.
