Sky's Rejection -
Sky’s Rejection Chapter 18
(Sky’s POV)
‘Wait, where did he go?’ Dean asked Dimitri in the link.
‘He left pack lands. I don’t feel him anymore. The rogues must be planning to attack soon.’ Dimitri replied to us in the link, ‘Prepare the warriors just in case. We are going to have to go find him.’
His husky voice sent shivers down my spine. No matter how much I push him away, just the thought of his muscular, well – defined body, his husky and deep baritone voice that makes every nerve of my body come alive. All of him is calling me back in, pulling me back to my mate. Focus Sky. I can answer this for him and finally let him know what I have been trying to inform him about. I could feel the judgement coming off of Ty.
‘Mmm I kinda feel like we are focused on the right thing. Give me a piece of that.’ Angel sasses in my mind, as she projects pictures of our god – like mate, stripping slowly in our mind. Only my horny wolf.
Angel, stop. We need to focus for five minutes. I reprimanded her as I tried to shake off the thought of Dimitri stripping in front of me, Goddess, please give me the strength to focus.
‘I know where he is. His plans were to leave the pack a few weeks before the attack and take off to meet up with his daughter.’ I mind linked back to them quietly, as pain courses through me. The thought of that she – wolf with my ex – mate. Angel whimpers, its almost as if there is still a slight connection. I could feel it fading though. Maybe this is my fault.
‘Sky, are you okay?’ Ty asked in the link with concern. I should answer him. I should relieve him from the concern he is feeling. I should try to help him calm down from the panic I am putting him through. Though I can’t. I can’t find the strength in me to put on a strong face, I can’t find the walls in me to block this pain out. Why do I feel this way? Why can’t I keep the walls around my heart up? Why can’t I respond to them?
‘Our mate has wedged himself in, whether you like it or not.’ Angel sasses. Her mind is completely consumed with our mate, though I can’t blame her.
‘Where?’ Dean asked in the link, wondering where we are going to get these two traitors back so they can finally be punished. Though again I can’t focus on any of their words. I need to link them back, but I just can’t get myself to focus.
Angel, stop please. We need to focus. I whined in my head, just wishing she would help me concentrate for a couple minutes.
‘Sky, please answer me. I am worried and I need to know you are alright. Just stay where you are, I will come find you.’ Ty links in a panic, goddess why can’t I answer him? Why can’t my mind release me from this paralyzing grip that is drowning me inside my own mind?
‘MEETING. MY OFFICE. NOW.’ Dimitri commands in his alpha voice to us. Though it doesn’t work on me, my wolf still whimpers from his emotionless tone.
“Goddess Sky, get up, we have to go. You are a strong woman. Don’t let anyone or anything put you back into this empty state. Put your guard back up, emotionless mask back on, we have to go.” Ty encouraged in his demanding way as he entered my dark room, pulling me off the ground. How did I end up sitting on the ground?
‘He’s right. We have other things to think about and deal with. Let’s go.’ Angel comments, pushing all the thoughts out of our mind and bringing our focus to what is important right now.
” Let’s go.” I told Ty right after I straightened my posture, wiped my face clean and washed all the emotions out of me.
Clear mind. No emotions. Never let anyone in. I hear Angel sigh, but she makes no comment. This is how I cope with things. This is how I move on from anything that could possibly hurt me if I allowed it too. I won’t make that mistake again.
(Royal Alpha Dimitri’s POV)
Dean and Mark enter my office and take a seat on the leather couch across from me. As we sit in awkward silence, I realize that these two idiots are staring at me with knowing looks.
“WHAT?!?!” I snapped in annoyance. Can’t they just leave me alone?
“Are you worried? About a girl?” Dean mocked in a high – pitched girly voice. You have got to be kidding me.
“What do I do? How do I make her want me? It is so hard having a mate.” Mark mocks, as if trying to be me.
“Dean, shut up before I make you go spar with me. That does not sound like me and if you keep going Mark, I will tell Ariel.” I threatened them. Dean shuts his mouth and looks away as Mark has a look of terror across his face as he goes pale. Deserves them right.
Dean seems about to find his courage to speak again right as Ty and Sky walk though the office door. The black skinny jeans clinging to every curve of my mate, as the aqua tank top loosely lays across her body with her black sports bra peeking out. Her curly black and white hair pulled into a high bun, showing off her long beautiful neck. Her marking spot calling out to me. Though her eyes are still that ugly brown. Where did that pool of violet go? Where is that instant pull of eye contact? Is it possible her wolf’s eyes are a different color than her humans?
I cleared my throat, trying to get my mind clear from all the thoughts and questions I had about my mate.
“Sky.” I said to her as I leaned back in my seat. “I know you don’t want to talk to me right now, but you can take your spot, right here next to me.”
I smiled softly at her, encouraging her to take her Royal Luna position next to me. Even if she can’t open up yet, she is my one and only mate. How did she develop royal qualities before meeting me though, and why is she so reserved? Could it really be because of the smell of Katrina on me when she arrived?
Sky lifts her eyebrows mischievously, as the corner of her mouth lifts playfully. s**t, what is she up to? “I don’t do well with taking orders,” She says as she does a little wrinkle of disguise with her nose and clicks her tongue behind her teeth in disapproval.
I lifted my left eyebrow in shock, questioning my mate’s sanity. She seriously just spoke to me like that? Me?
‘Mate seems off.’ Demon told me, as I sighed in response. Really? You think she seems off? How would you even know? She never shows us any kind of emotion.
‘She will just give her time.’ Demon tells me calmly. I know he is trying to resolve this before it becomes a blow out.
I watched as Dean, Mark and Ty turned towards her. Their faces fall as the words leave her mouth, and their stature become instantly rigid. Ty slowly looks around, observing what may play out. It is as if he has been in a situation like this before and he knows what possible outcomes could happen. Has another Alpha threatened her before? Has she spoken disrespectfully to others? Dean and Mark seem conflicted, as if they want to growl in warning to her to defend their Royal Alpha, but at the same time, they want to show her respect because she will be their Royal Luna.
“Sky,” I began to speak through gritted teeth. “Would you PLEASE sit next to me so that this meeting can begin?”
I asked her as politely as I could, scowling at her while I waited for her response. Please Goddess make sure this woman doesn’t push me more than she has. I can hear Dean snicker from the couch as he re – takes his seat. Mark has an amused and knowing smile on his face as he tries to act as if he’s ignoring the conversation and minding his own business. In my whole twenty – nine years of life, I don’t think I have ever used the word please to anyone other than my own parents. Goddess is going to need to help me with this girl.
“Well, let me think…. …. Mmm… Since you asked so kindly, I guess I can do that for you, just this once.” Sky said playfully as she rolled her eyes. All of her emotions are fake, as if she is trying to place a show on instead of allowing anyone to see her real self. She makes her way over to the empty chair beside me, as she sways her h!ps side to side in a proactive way. Seriously, the sass of this girl is going to test my patience.
Sky sits down in her chair and crosses her legs slowly, as she looks me straight in the eye. She leaned back and gave me a side look, as if trying to act as if my presence didn’t bother her. “Happy?” She asked sarcastically, looking away as if my response wouldn’t be justified enough for her. It is as if I am just a speck to her and she doesn’t warrant the need to pay me any attention. No matter if I am her mate or not.
A low frustrated growl escaped my l!ps as I clenched my jaw in annoyance.
‘Looks like someone knows how to push the Alpha’s buttons.’ Dean mocked in the link, making me send a glare at him.
Sky nudged me as she waited for an answer, making me realize I hadn’t responded to her yet. ” Estatic,” I told her sarcastically.
‘Mate feels nice, touch her again Dimitri, please.’ Demon begged in my head. See, she is turning us into mush.
I took a deep breath trying to calm my wolf and myself down. The sparks that shot through my arm made my wolf slowly become calm. I enjoy the fact that Sky gasped, showing she felt the bond too. No matter how much she tries to mask her emotions, I know this isn’t just one – sided. I just have to keep reminding myself of that.
“Are we going to discuss the issue now or are you satisfied with just staring at me instead?” Sky’s snarky come – back pulls me out of my thoughts. Dean and Mark cough, trying to cover up their laughter. This meeting is going to be fun.
“Alright, let’s get this over with. First we need to know where the traitors could have possibly went. Sky, you said you might know…..” Well that’s as far as I got before my lovely mate decided to cut me off.
‘Looks as if the Alpha is already whipped. Anyone else cut you off like that they wouldn’t make it to tomorrow.’ Dean comments in our link, causing Mark to chuckle in agreement.
“Not might, I do. While you guys have been trusting others to figure out all these important things, I have been confirming and making sure everything goes right. I have taught the warriors new techniques so that rogues don’t know their steps. I have been following Al and listening to his conversations with the rogue boss. I have been tracking Katrina and keeping eyes on her at all times. That is how I know that she is at Woodland Pack and is the mate to Alpha Xander Lee Woodland. Al is there with her and they now have that Pack behind them,” Sky says with a calm demeanor. How does she show no care at all that now we have a problem with a Pack and rogues?
Ty looks panicked as he looks around at all of us. What is going through his head? The Woodland Pack is only the tenth strongest pack in the country. The only reason anyone ever fears them is because of the connection they made with the Hollow Blue Pack. Though I don’t think the Hollow Blue Pack would ever go against the Royal Pack, at least they wouldn’t have with the old Alpha and Luna. Knowing the newer one I haven’t dealt with was raised by the former ones, I am sure he is the same.
“We are leaving. You do not need our help. I will have the council send the ghost squad and they will be able to help. Sky, let’s go now.” Ty announced as he jumped out of his seat and headed towards my mate. I watched as the two stared at each other as if they were having a silent conversation.
“He’s right. The ghost squad will be sufficient.” Sky comments as she rises from her seat. I grab her wrist, causing sparks to shoot between us both. She looks at my hand and her wrist and then up to my face. “Let …. go.”
” Sky, please you can’t leave. Your my mate and this packs luna. We need you, I need you. What have I done to make you not want me?” I asked and begged, hoping Sky chose not to leave me. Though the only response I received was her shaking her head as she walked out of the office, the pack house and my life.
