Book 2- Chapter 16

On the afternoon of the third day, my lawyer Mr. Sinclair called to say that Ethan had agreed to the divorce. The assets in the shop had been evaluated, worth about 30,000 after liquidation. Other assets had already been squandered by Ethan.

That gold-digging Mia, if Ethan didn't have a shop outside to put on airs, she wouldn't have come back to him in the first place.

Although some of this money might be recoverable, the battle would inevitably be prolonged, and I was already too lazy to entangle with him anymore.

My Lawyer Mr. Sinclair said that Ethan had one last request.

He wanted me to go back with him to see his parents and explain the divorce in person.

What's there to see? When have they ever given me a good look?

From the beginning, they looked down on my family for being poor. If not for this, Ethan and I wouldn't have had to move out to live separately.

Later, they blamed me for not being able to conceive after three years of marriage.

Now that things have come to this point, what's the need to meet again? I flatly refused.

I fished Ethan out of my blacklist and made my first call since proposing divorce.

"Ethan, since you've chosen your true love, let's part ways amicably. I won't go see your family again. Tomorrow at 9 AM, meet me at the civil affairs bureau." After a long while, Ethan's voice came through the phone:

"Alright, Ava, don't regret it!"

Of course I won't regret it. I just don't know if Ethan regretted it later when he was kneeling in front of me, crying his heart out.
