Secret Admiration: Finding True Love After P... 1/7

Chapter 690 Brother and Sister

Outside, Daniel's men stood in a straight line, weapons in hand, their eyes fixed menacingly on one man.

Andy, clad in a black tactical jacket, stood motionless, his face icy and stern. A single glance into his cold, piercing eyes was enough to make anyone shiver. Despite being surrounded by so many, Andy's presence alone seemed to overpower them all.

Not far from him lay two men dressed in black. Blood gushed from the bullet holes in their foreheads, pooling on the ground beneath them.

Their lifeless bodies were still, their wide eyes filled with disbelief, as though they couldn't fathom how they had died so suddenly.

The sight of their fallen comrades only sharpened the

murderous glares of the thugs surrounding Andy. Those men had been their brothers-in-arms, comrades who had faced death by their side. Now, like a pack of bloodthirsty wolves, they closed in on Andy, ready to tear him apart at any moment.

When Daniel arrived and took in the scene, his face turned ashen with fury.

"Andy, how dare you make a mess like this on my turf? Do you think I'm someone you can just walk all over?" His voice shook with rage. Andy's defiance was an open provocation, and Daniel's anger was evident.

Andy's sharp features bore an uncanny resemblance to Rachel's. But his eyes held a much darker, colder edge than hers ever had. "Where's Rachel? I want to see her," Andy said, his voice calm but commanding.

Daniel sneered, "You've stayed in the shadows all these refusing even to meet her. And now you suddenly want to see years,

her?"

A sinister grin spread across Daniel's face. "Fine. If you want to see Rachel, all you have to do is apologize and beg me for mercy. Do that, and I'll bring her out for you."

The moment he finished speaking, laughter erupted from his men. It was clear none of them believed Andy would leave this place alive.

To them, his defiance was nothing more than a futile struggle.

Andy glanced at Daniel, his expression unmoved. "Bring her out first. Then we'll talk."

Daniel laughed mockingly, "Do you really think you're in any

position to negotiate with me? Let me tell you something. My men worked overtime last night, and we took one of her kidneys. She's..."

"What did you just say?" Andy's eyes widened, the calm in his gaze shattered by a flash of shock.

"After all the dirty deeds you've done over the years, why are you so upset to hear that I took one of her kidneys?" Daniel asked, his tone dripping with scorn as he watched Andy's reaction.

"Hurts, doesn't it? To see someone you care about suffer? That's the only way you'll ever understand what pain really feels like. You've spent years sabotaging my business, killing my men without a second thought. They lost their lives, and Rachel? She's only down one kidney."

Before Daniel could finish, Andy's hand moved to his waist.

Daniel's sharp eyes caught the motion immediately. He saw the outline of a gun hidden in Andy's hip.

"What now? Are you planning to shoot me? Don't forget, your sister is in my hands. Drop the gun. Now. Kick it over!" Daniel ordered.

His men immediately raised their weapons, ready to act if Andy made a wrong move.

Andy's face darkened.

The two sides stood frozen in a tense standoff. It lasted only seconds, but every moment felt unbearably long.

The air was so thick with tension that it was as if time itself had stopped.

For Rachel's sake, Andy finally relented. He removed the gun from his waistband, dropped it to the ground, and kicked it over.

Daniel bent down, picked up the weapon, and inspected it. Satisfied, he waved at one of his lackeys. "Go. Bring the woman out. Let him see her one last time before he dies."

The lackey obeyed and disappeared into the shadows. After two or three agonizing minutes, a frail, disheveled woman was dragged into view.

Rachel's movements were sluggish. She wasn't walking on her

own. The lackey held her up by her shoulders and pulled her forward.

Her face was ghostly pale, drained of all color from the severe blood loss. She looked as though she might collapse at any

moment.

Her once bright, lively eyes were now swollen and bloodshot, the aftermath of crying through the night. The redness in her gaze was heartbreaking, a stark contrast to the emptiness in her expression.

At only twenty-something years old, her lifeless stare made her look like an old woman who had long since given up on life.

Andy's eyes locked onto the deep red stain on her abdomen.

Her wound hadn't been treated properly. Blood still seeped through the bandages.

The lackey suddenly let go. Rachel, unable to support herself, crumpled to the ground like a puppet with its strings cut. She hit the floor hard, coughing up a mouthful of blood. Andy's heart twisted in agony.

Rachel was the only family he had left in this world. He had stayed away for years, fearing that his presence would bring her danger.

Yet, in the end, Daniel had uncovered their connection anyway.

"Rachel!" Andy's voice cracked with emotion.

Usually calm and indifferent, he was now consumed with anguish.

Rachel lay sprawled on the ground. She heard her name but couldn't muster the strength to respond.

Her entire body ached, sapped of energy. The fall had left her feeling like her insides had shattered.

"See? You've met her now," Daniel sneered.

"Beg me. If you don't, she will die earlier than you."

Daniel cocked Andy's gun and pointed it at the back of Rachel's head.

His finger hovered on the trigger, ready to fire.

"Rachel! I'm your brother!"

Andy ignored Daniel completely. He kept calling Rachel's name, desperate to reach her.

Upon the moment Rachel heard his words, her dull flickered faintly.

gaze

She tried to lift her head, turning her blurry eyes toward Andy.

It had been over ten years since they last saw each other. To her, this man looked entirely unfamiliar.

When Andy faked his death, he had been just a boy of fourteen, barely out of adolescence.

Now, he was nearly thirty. Sixteen years had passed, and too much had changed. His appearance, his height, his voice, even his demeanor... they were all different. Perhaps from exhaustion, Rachel's head fell forward again. He eyes closed slowly.

Andy was overwhelmed with guilt.

He knew this was his fault. If it weren't for him, Rachel would

never have ended up like this.

He took a step toward her, but Daniel wasn't having it.

"Stop right there! One more step, and I'll put a bullet in her head!" Daniel snarled.

Andy smirked coldly. "You're the one who's about to die. Do you even realize what's happening?"

Daniel froze, instinctively glancing toward the factory doors.

To his horror, he saw that Andy's men had surrounded the building, guns trained on them from every angle.

His face went pale.

He cursed under his breath.

"I told you to come alone! How dare you bring backup? Fine. I'll take all of you out today. Then I won't have to worry about anyone stealing my business again!"

Daniel abruptly shifted the gun's aim from Rachel to Andy.

As Andy dashed toward Rachel, Daniel pulled the trigger. Write your comment
