Rogue Warriors of Lorr -
Stolen by the Alien Prince Chapter 8
Gianna remained surprisingly calm. She had to admit she was impressed with herself. She normally would have screamed or thrashed around, but she didn't. She willingly went with the men. Kozien, on the other hand, seemed to really be struggling with this. She watched as two D'Narvius men pulled Kozien in another direction. He was trying to get free, but not with his full strength. Gianna remained calm as the guy who grabbed her pulled her into an open hover shuttle. He slammed the door shut as he climbed in after her.
Gianna looked at him, trying to gauge his next step. She wasn't entirely sure if this was a good situation or a bad one. Generally, being kidnapped was bad, but if it got her the information she needed and she located her brother then... it was good? So, she went with the only way to figure it out. "Where are we headed?" she asked while working to keep a calm expression on her features.
The vehicle took off. With no windows, she couldn't even take in her surroundings, but she could feel that they were moving. She knew freaking out wouldn't help the situation. The man still watched her, and so she asked the question again. "Where are we headed?" "Out and about." He leaned back in his seat. "Now, tell me, why do you want to join the D'Narvius group?"
It was a gang, but whatever. And she hadn't offered or asked to join, but wanted the location of her brother, dammit. But she could play along.
She gulped and realized the man's question was a good thing. Being kidnapped was less than ideal, but the question meant they still believed part of her story. They still believed that she had a crew and performed illegal acts similar to their own.
So, Gianna took a deep breath and struggled to harden herself. She needed to keep that calm, calculated exterior she had been using for a few days now.
"My brother works for you." She gave the man a tight smile. "We used to work together on Earth. We did really well down there, but we decided to expand. He left first to get his bearings before I arrived. He spoke highly of you guys."
The man watched her, taking her words in. She hoped she made herself sound good, but she wasn't sure. The man gave her no indication that he was believing her.
"You told my guys his name is Gabe?"
She nodded. "Yes."
"We don't have a Gabe."
That was a load of shit, and she knew he lied, but she didn't want to let on, so she just smiled. She placed her hands on her knees, knowing every encounter they had was short. She only had so much time to get what she wanted.
"Let's stop fucking around and be up front about whatever this is. I know how this works. I've done it for a while." The biggest lie she'd ever told. "I want in, and my brother spoke highly of you. Whether he used his name or not doesn't matter. I want in, so what do I need to do to prove that?"
The man sat forward and narrowed his eyes slightly, taking in her words. She kept her blank expression but her stomach clenched. She just might vomit all over this man if he didn't say something soon.
"If you want in, you will need to pass the initiation." He leaned back into his cushion, giving her an almost humorous smile. "No one is hired into this organization until they pass it. It's a rule. Maybe you will find your brother after."
She bit hard onto her cheek. Shit. A twist in her road. Not what she needed. But she couldn't show she was upset. She was getting closer to finding her brother, and that's what mattered. "Fine," she said. "Whatever it takes."
She wanted to tell Kozien. She knew he was probably freaking out about them being separated, and she wanted to let him know she was okay.
But it seemed as soon as she thought this, the man noticed the cheap comm Kozien had snapped onto her wrist. She internally groaned as she knew exactly what he was going to say. "I'll need that," he said, pointing toward it. "No contact with the outside world until the initiation is over."
Fuck. Fuck! Fuck!
Fine.
She unclipped the comm and handed it over, internally flipping the man off. She would just somehow inform Kozien another way.
The shuttle landed, and the door swung open. She looked out into a large brick building. She saw no windows, no plants, nothing but brick walls, and a single wood door.
Gianna swallowed as the man got out and waited for her. She didn't fight. She had agreed to this, but now her insides twisted.
She walked into the building, which had the look of a business. They walked down a long corridor, and the man unlocked a door. He swung the door open to a dark room and waved her inside.
Gianna tried to hold her head high as she stepped inside. She wasn't prepared for the door to shut and lock behind her. The lights flicked on, engulfing the room in an ugly yellow.
She clutched her hands tightly together and surveyed the room. It was small with white marble floors and white panel walls and held nothing but a single cot and another door. She walked toward the door and opened it to a bathroom. White floors and white walls with nothing but a sink, a toilet, and a stand-up shower. Not even a curtain.
Gianna steadied her quickly beating heart and seated herself on the cot. She would have to make the best of this. This was for her brother.
"For Gabe," she said, reminding herself. This was all for her brother.
She stared at the door and decided to wait. She had all the time in the world now.
Kozien was pulled back, and at first, he wasn't trying that hard to get free. Gianna had stayed calm, and he didn't want to ruin her cover, but they kept pulling him farther back.
He realized they were taking him around the corner, and he couldn't watch where they were going to take her. He really started fighting back at that point. He needed to see where they were taking Gianna.
He threw one of the guys hard into the wall, a snarl leaving his lips, "Where are you taking her?" he snapped, about ready to rip the man's head off.
The other man jumped and shoved him hard against the wall, knocking the other guy free. The man slipped through his grasp and wiggled himself to freedom.
The other guy hit Kozien over the head, causing him to tumble while trying to catch himself. In that split few seconds, the man backed up and jumped onto some hover zoomers that were sitting by the side. This was planned. This entire thing was planned out, which pissed him off to no end. Kozien hadn't seen it coming.
He stormed back up the road to find that Gianna was gone. He gripped his hands into tight fists, and his eyes fell on his brothers' sign. He was going to get his brothers' help, whether they wanted to assist him or not. He threw the doors open as he walked back into the building. He stormed down the hallway, right back to his brother's office. Grux was seated at his desk on the phone. He glanced up at Kozien and placed a finger up. Kozien grabbed the phone and hit the button to hang up. His brother's eyes widened, and he snapped at him, "Seriously! I was on an important call."
"Not as important as this one is about to be." Kozien grabbed his brother, ripping him out of his chair. He slammed his brother's back hard against the wall, and Grux grunted, trying to shove Kozien off. There was no point-Kozien was stronger and bigger. "What the fuck?" his brother snarled, pissed now. "Get off! What the hell is your problem?"
"Why the fuck did you tell Gianna I was using her to get other clients that were going to pay?"
Grux's eyes widened, and he shot Kozien an annoyed frown. "Is that what you're so pissed about?"
"No!" Kozien snarled, leaning closer to his brother's face. "I have a lot of other shit on my plate, but you are at the fucking top because you're an asswipe! Why would you tell her that? Why did you lie to her?"
His brother rolled his eyes like Kozien was acting out of line. "Because. You were going to do all of this pro bono bullshit, and it's clear you were doing it to piss me off. Besides, it wasn't entirely wrong. Her case is supposed to bring in more clients, but she has no money to offer you. Just move on already, Kozien. You're only going to hurt the poor girl in the end."
Kozien shoved his brother hard against the wall once more before he let go. Grux coughed, rubbing at his chest and scowled at Kozien, furious.
"She isn't just some girl, Grux. She's my mate, and I will die before I let anything happen to her, including anything you or Trigg do. So, you either help me or stay the f**k out of my way."
He turned and stormed out. Kozien left the building, knowing where he was headed.
If he wanted to figure out where they were taking Gianna, he wasn't standing back and just listening. No, he was going to be himself and get what he wanted one way or another.
He arrived at the shady part of town, glancing over everyone he saw. He watched people, trying to calculate who would be working for the D'Narvius.
He knew he didn't have a lot of spare time on his hands, so he had one shot. He needed to make sure he found someone who would tell him what he wanted. He wasn't afraid to break bones if necessary.
He watched drug dealers go by and couldn't find one scared enough to leak the information he wanted. He watched a few girls walk the streets and grew frustrated. It felt like a lost cause.
Suddenly, his eyes landed on Oliver. He knew that Oliver's hands weren't clean in this. Oliver had told Kozien that Gabe had gone missing because of the D'Narvius. He had fed Kozien and Gianna pieces of information, setting this up all perfectly. They both thought he was being a good friend, but it was so clear now to Kozien that Oliver was part of the gang, willing to sell others out to save his own skin. If anyone was going to tell him what he wanted, it would be him.
He stormed up the road until Oliver turned, seeing him approach. He gave Kozien a smile until Kozien grabbed him by the neck of his shirt and slammed him against the wall.
"Where did they take her?" he snarled, choking the man slightly. "And don't fucking lie to me!"
"What are you talking about?" Oliver struggled against him, trying to wiggle free.
"Gianna! They have her, and I need to know where they took her! You're going to spill everything."
His eyes widened and he shook his head quickly. "I can't just tell you whatever you want to know. I'll be dead."
Kozien narrowed his eyes. "Maybe a broken hand will sway your ungiving nature."
Oliver paled, his eyes widening with fear. "You wouldn't."
Kozien leaned closer to him. "I'm a desperate man. Ever heard the saying a desperate man will do anything to save someone? Ask me again if I will."
He grabbed hold of Oliver's hand, fully willing to go through with his threat. He would break his hand if it gave him what he wanted. He wanted Gianna and nothing would stop him from getting to her.
"All right!" Oliver caved, his entire body shaking now. "I'll tell you what I know."
"Good idea," Kozien spat. "Now, talk."
