Rejected By My Mate, Chosen By Fate -
Chapter 10
“It’s a good thing he’s banishing us Evelyn, we wouldn’t have been able to stay anyway. Having to see him everyday and be reminded of the rejection every time would have surely caused my heart to stop.” Tara said and I nodded.
‘It’s a good thing he is making us leave. I’ve always toyed around with the idea of leaving and because they wouldn’t have let us leave, I’ve kept the idea buried deep inside my mind but now I’m free. Think about it Tara, this is a good thing. Banishing us from the pack means we are no longer going to be forced to be their servants anymore and by extension, he’s granted us our freedom. We don’t have to live the rest of our lives as slaves anymore. Don’t worry about it, Tara. I am going to stop considering this pack as my home from today henceforth, they have given me nothing but pain, scars and misery.’ I told her and she cheered up a bit.
“But where are we going to go?” Tara questioned and I refused to let the thought of that bother me. ‘It’s pretty simple Tara, we’re only going to go to where we will be appreciated and treated like the germs we are. I exactly don’t know where that is right now but I’m going to leave that to the goddess. She’s kept us alive thus far and so she’ll protect us and deliver us to our real home.’ I told her, the determination apparent in my mind’s voice.
“What are you still doing here? Get up, go get your things so that the guards can escort you out.” He said and I sneered at him.
I’m definitely not taking anything from this place, it will only serve as bad memories. I quickly wiped away the lone tear that had fallen down my cheek and smiled instead.
I was done crying, I was done showing my weakness to them. From now henceforth, I won’t let anyone suppress me anymore, I’ll be the strong and independent she-wolf I’ve always been meant to be. I’ve finally let go of my fear and my insecurities, it’s time to face the world. Maybe this situation isn’t actually a tragedy, it’s more of an eye opener, for me to see that it’s time to finally rise and fight for myself and for a better future.
“You are being very stubborn by saying you don’t want to take anything from here but that’s your problem, you can die for all I care, it really wouldn’t make a difference to me.” He said and I smiled. When has it ever made a difference to him?
“I’ll go announce my decision but you can say your good-byes to your family in the meantime.” He said. ‘I have no family.’ I stated plainly and Tara transferred the message. “Alright, go wait outside the pack house, the guards will be there to escort you to the border and the scouts will also be at the border to make sure you actually leave.” He said and I glared at him.
Was he really being serious right now? I have no reason to remain in this pack so why would I even want to hang around? I would leave right away if I had my way.
I walked out of his room and headed for the main exit at the pack house, passing through several rooms and several people that just stared at me while I completely just ignored them.
I went outside and waited for close to an hour before the guards showed up to escort me to the border. As I took one last look at the place I had been born, I turned my back on it, deciding that it had from this moment ceased to be my home. Just a fading memory of a terrible past I would give anything to forget.
