“No no no no this cannot be!” Barron paced around the room. Gerald also was equally shocked and worried. He had never thought of the possibility of him finding shelter in the vampire clan. They were vampires. Secretive, nocturnal creatures who lurked in the shadows. Who would have thought of trusting them?

“The opal! That is the only way! We must unlock it’s powers.” Barron exclaimed.

Gerald sighed. “But….. I still don’t know how. I still have not learned how to unlock the powers of anything. You know that whatever I have learnt is by practicing by myself. I didn’t have anyone to teach me. I still have not figured out how to do that. And being the beta for all those years I had a fair share of responsibilities towards the pack. I literally had not time to travel and seek knowledge.” He told Barron.

“Then do it now! We must be ready for them. They are preparing for war for heaven’s sake! And with David with them, we are definitely doomed.” Barron expressed.

“Ok. Allow me to travel to the wizards’ realm. Maybe I can learn enough spells and come back before they attack.” Gerald stated.

“Of course. Do what you must. And be fast. I don’t want to take any risks.” Barron urged and left the room.

Gerald started to pack his things. Barron was right. He must do it. Otherwise all the things he had done in order to make his son alpha will be disclosed to everyone. Everyone will hate him. It was a good thing that the elders were corrupt enough to have the desire to do anything to be powerful. But if he fails, this time it would be the last of his days. David will surely get him for every thing he had done. And he certainly didn’t want to be on his bad side. He knew how strong a lycan could be.

He lied down on bed, trying to get some sleep before he left the next morning. But no matter how much he tried, his thoughts just refused to let him sleep. David was still well and alive. He was getting stronger by the minute and he was preparing to avenge them.

Finally, Gerald dozed off in to a restless slumber.

Gerald left saying that he would like travel around the world. Cade and Hailey’s relationship was somehow the same.

Barron tried his best to remove his daughter from the state of depression. Slowly, Hailey started to meet other people. She started to attend her duties, though she was not as enthusiastic as she used to be.

Months passed by. Barron continued to wait in anticipation for any news from Gerald. He continued to look out for the vampire clan who were dangerously silent. But he knew he shouldn’t underestimate them. They always attacked when the other least expected.

Meanwhile, king Richard was preparing his troops. With David in the front lines there were thousands among the vampire army who wanted to take part in this war. After all, their most precious opal was stolen by those treacherous werewolves.

They were waiting for the sun to set so that they could start their march towards the pack.

They were waiting for the sun to set so that they could start their march towards the pack.

The king turned around to address his army. He looked around. All the warriors were fully prepared for this. He smiled in satisfaction. There was no question that he was super proud of his army of warriors. They had all being training hard for this day. He cleared his throat and raised his hands, gaining everyone’s attention.

Everyone turned towards him including his family who were in the army.

“My beloved men. I am very proud of you all. You have been tirelessly training for this day ever since we lost the last battle against the werewolves. I believe the reason we lost was because we had made a huge mistake in the process. But today I have repented and corrected my mistake. Today, we are aware that they are traitors. They have wronged us. They are back stabbers. And they deserve to be punished.

But remember! I don’t want any civilians to get hurt. Because there would be many among them who have no choice except to accept what their leaders say. So we are going to make them pay! We will kill those wrong doers. And this time we will come back victorious!”

He ended his speech and the whole army roared in agreement. Some of them clapped while others punched the air. All of them were eager to rip their bodies apart. They were going to get their opal back no matter what.

King Richard approached his family who were all smiling at him with pride.

“Daddy.” Carol hugged him tight. This time the mighty king was going to fight alongside the warriors.

Carol too was going join, along side Evan, Nolan and Elle. This was going to be a big night for them. Carol was specially interested in seeing the stupid shew wolf who rejected David. She wanted to thank her for rejecting him. If she had not, Carol most probably wouldn’t have had such an awesome partner.

Kat hugged her brother, with tears brimming her eyes. He sure was annoying. But when he was going to leave for war, Kat was just too worried.

“I’ll be so lonely.” She sobbed. “Everyone is going to leave. Even dad and uncle. Carol and Elle too.” She complained.

“I’ll be here.” Replied Mat, the youngest of them. Kat giggled.

“Of course. And mom too.” She turned towards the others. “Please stay safe. And be careful.” She murmured. Nolan couldn’t help but admire how cute his beloved looked. She was perfect. He thought. Only if she too could feel the bond.

“And the worst part is that you all will be gone on my birthday.” She complained. Nolan snapped his head towards her. She was pouting looking awful.

“but dear. You know this cannot be delayed. Don’t worry. Mom will arrange everything.” Her father tried to console her.

“No!” Kat and Nolan said at the same time. Everyone turned towards him in surprise.

They were waiting for the sun to set so that they could start their march towards the pack.

“I…I mean….if your grace feels it is best that would be great. But since all of us are gone…..”

He was cut in by Kat.

“Exactly. I want to wait until you come back. Please daddy.” She pleaded.

Her father shrugged. “If that is what you want my sweetheart.” He replied and Nolan found himself sighing in relief. Of course he didn’t want her to have that party without him. He could barely control himself even now. And the idea of other men gawking at her didn’t sit right with him.

The king smiled and nodded. His eyes landed on David who was fiddling with his fingers.

“Nervous?” the king asked David. He shook his head.

“No. This revenge is overdue. I can’t wait to get my hands on that worthless piece of shit for killing my grandma.” He gritted his teeth and clenched his fists. The king chuckled and looked around. The sun had set. The red and orange hues of the sky was slowly being over taken my the deep darkness of the night.

“It is time for us to leave.” He murmured. “Let’s march!” He ordered. And the mighty vampire army that consisted of thousands and thousands of skilled warriors, marched through the trees towards the pack of traitors.

Meanwhile in the pack, Barron paced anxiously gazing outside from time to time. Almost a year has passed. Still no news from Gerald. He had started to wonder what had happened to him. Did he get lost? Maybe he was attacked.

He couldn’t help but think the worst possible outcome of it. The night had deepened when Barron finally decided to retreat back to his quarters.

“Hello Barron. Aren’t you going to welcome me back?” Gerald’s voice surprised him.

He turned around to see Gerald, smiling at him. No sign of tiredness or fatigue was evident in his face. Barron’s confusion increased. Wasn’t his journey long enough to tire him?

“How……” he trailed off.

Gerald chuckled. “I teleported. I have been training the past six months now I am ready to unlock the powers. But I will have to go back as soon as I’m done. I’m only back because I want to save my pack.”

Barron’s mouth opened in complete shock.

“You can teleport?” he exclaimed. “But why did it take a whole year for you to come back?” he asked.

“I was arrested as soon as I arrived at their realm. I had to spend six months in their jail until they finally believed me. Hence the delay.” He explained.

“Good gracious. Fine let’s do it now.” Barron replied.

“Yes. Now hurry. Let me unlock it.”

They hurried to go to the elder’s quarters but they were stunned by the war trumpet that blared in the atmosphere.

“The vampires are attacking!” a warrior yelled and soon, chaos spread.
