Narrator.

When David woke up the next day it was already late in the afternoon. He remembered the events of the night and smiled to himself. It has been the best night of his life.

“Hey Finn.” He greeted his lycan. “You want to go out now? You know for a run?” he asked. Finn shook his head.

“I think it would be better if we walk around and check out this place today.” He said. David couldn’t agree more. Perhaps he would find something interesting.

He quickly freshened up and went out of the room. The palace was closed so well, so that the sunlight couldn’t penetrate in the dark corridors of the palace. So even though it was afternoon, the whole palace was as dark as it would be during the night. David strolled down the stairs after making sure that he had masked his scent. The dark staircase and the corridors were completely deserted. David looked around, unsure of where to go or what to look for, until he passed by a room where he heard some discussions that caught his interest.

“We must get it back from the werewolves. They didn’t have the right to steal it from us.” King Richard sounded angry.

“Yes. Sire. We are trying our best. But there is a problem. They have another breed of werewolf among them who is stronger than us. Because of him, we lost a lot of our warriors in the last battle. We had been planning and sending them threats for the past few months but still, if we loose any more of our warriors, there will be practically no one left.” Some one replied.

David heard someone banging on the table angrily.

“Damn it! A different breed you say. How different?” king Richard asked.

There was a pause. “He was stronger. And he stood on his hind legs, unlike the rest of the wolves. And he had red eyes which glowed like ours.”

David covered his mouth as the person described Finn.

“A lycan! They have a lycan is with them!” king Richard exclaimed. “But…. I do not understand…… Lycans are the most noble creatures. I don’t understand why he would steal it from us or anyone. I have seen the last lycan when I was a child. But after he died, there were no more lycans born for more than four centuries. Everyone thought that they went extinct. The werewolves think that they are a myth. But we know they aren’t. But the heck, why should I waste my time trying to explain it to them.” He said. “What I don’t understand is, if they truly had a lycan among them, why didn’t they boast about it. And why would such a noble creature do something like stealing.”

David furrowed his eyebrows. What was the king talking about? What was stolen? Something was definitely very wrong. David was certain that he didn’t steal anything from anyone. Did someone from his pack or among the werewolves steal something without his knowledge?

David wanted to listened more, but, when he heard footsteps, he knew it was time for him to leave. He dashed away from the room and ran up the stairs before the door to the room opened. He didn’t want to get caught, or for them to suspect him. He ran until he reached the fourth level, where his and Carol’s room was located.

“Finn. Do you have any idea what they were talking about?” he asked.

“Beats me. But you never know with those elders. I don’t like those wolves in our pack. I don’t trust them at all.” He replied and David had no choice but to agree. Finn was right. The red moon pack was filled with traitors. Why else would he be framed for his own grandma’s death. David balled his fists and gritted his teeth. They needed to pay and he had to plan something. But how? He would need help.

Perhaps the best option is to seek help from the vampires. But then, it meant that he would have to expose himself. He would have to tell them who he really was. But how were they going to respond when they find out that he actually was the lycan they had met in the war? That he was the one responsible for the deaths of their comrades? How would the vampire king react to it.

David hesitated. The only one he could consult would be his lycan.

“Finn. Dude. Say something.” David said.

“I say let’s go upstairs to explore a little.” Finn replied.

“Finn. Not that. Do you thing we should get help from them?” he asked.

Finn shrugged. “Don’t rush it. I think we should wait a little. It’s not time to tell yet. I think we should try to find out more.” He explained. “Now let’s explore. We won’t get this opportunity all the time.” He added.

David reluctantly started to climb the stairs. The further he climbed, the more nervous he felt. “Finn. I don’t feel so good about this.” David told Finn. But Finn just grunted and kept silent.

When he reached what looked the top floor, he halted and gazed at the tightly closed door. There were no guards and it was completely dark. David had to rely on his wolf sight to look around.

“What is this place?” he whispered to himself and approached the door. This door was huge and it was made of metal. It had a different kind of lock on it, which looked as if it would only be opened by entering a special code.

Whatever was behind this door must be really important. David looked around. The whole corridor consisted of only this room and there was no one around. But if it is that important, why aren’t there any guards in here? He thought.

“What are you doing human?”

David jumped in fear and turned around to face king Richard, who was glaring at him with angry eyes. His normal green eyes now had red rings around it. His knitted eyebrows and grim lips showed how unhappy he was to find David here. The muscles on his jaws were clenching and his fists were balled. He looked as if he was ready to beat the crap out of David.

“Sire.” David whispered. He knew that his silence could only put him in to trouble. “I was looking around and I wanted to explore……” David told him.

“Sire.” David whispered. He knew that his silence could only put him in to trouble. “I was looking around and I wanted to explore……” David told him.

“You may explore, but don’t come to this place if you don’t want to get in trouble. This place used to be constantly guarded but now…….. well, let’s just say a thief took what rightly belongs to this kingdom. And I still am trying to get it back.” King Richard replied.

“You humans will not understand it. So it will be best that you leave it as it is. Had I seen anyone else sneaking up here, I would have put him in the dungeons but I will let you go this time. Because for one reason, if I punish you my princess will be hurt and two you didn’t know how dangerous it is to roam around in this place.” He said.

“Now leave. And don’t walk around alone. We are vampires, remember? Not everyone will let you go just like that.” He said.

David bowed and quickly descended the stairs.

“Finn. Don’t ever ask me to explore.” David huffed but Finn chuckled in response. “But we have learnt a lot. The werewolves stole something and whatever it is, really important to these people. That is the whole reason why they declared war. But I really wish we got the chance to see what’s in side. Maybe we can sneak out……”

“No. Oh my God no Finn.” David quickly cut him in. “I don’t want to get on their bad side. I have a feeling that I will have to eventually ask for their help to get back at the traitors in my pack.” David told him and Finn agreed.

“Yes. We will have to.” Finn replied.

“What. You sound as if you are sure that I will have to work with them.” David got curious. But all what Finn did was, smirk and retreat to the back of David’s mind.

David g*****d. Finn did it again. He wouldn’t tell David and it only makes David restless. But he couldn’t call anymore as the pine scent he loved touched his nostrils.

“David! Here you are. Have you had food yet?” she asked and David shook his head.

“Come we will have something to eat before I have to go. Will you join tonight’s session?” she asked. David nodded and smiled. At least now he would something to keep himself busy with.

David sat beside carol at the table where everyone was gathered together to eat. Carol introduced David to her cousins, who welcomed him with a smile. No one seemed to mind having a human around. Perhaps because he was there as Carol’s friend.
