Chapter 993

He saw a woman getting out of the bed, followed by Corentin.

When Marco spotted Corentin, he hid further into the shadow, but kept his eyes on Corentin.

“As expected, it's him!" He thought.

“Anne.” Ashlynn walked toward Anne.

Anne looked at her and realized the woman before her was Ashlynn. “Ashlynn.” She turned to look at Corentin.” Uncle.”

Ashlynn had just been told by Corentin the day before that Anne had lost her memories, so she hurried over to visit.

"Anne, do you remember me?”

Anne knew that her accident was not a secret and confessed, “I'm sorry, but I have no memories of the past. I did ask Mr. Winston about you and Uncle after seeing your names in my contact list.” “Don’t apologize, Anne. It's my fault for not contacting you. I should have come to visit sooner,” Ashlynn said apologetically.

She had been focusing on work in the Lloyd Group and on finding Corentin’s dark secrets, that she had forgotten to check on Anne, the last thing she had expected was for Anne to be in a car accident and lose her memories in the process.

“I only found out when Anthony traveled to Athetin. I'm worried about you,” Corentin said.

Anne smiled. “Let's go to the Royal Mansion. I have nothing here to serve you.”

Corentin glanced up and asked, “This is where Bianca's mother was killed, right?”

Ashlynn gaped at Corentin as she was not aware of that.

"Yeah. I think they've already caught the murderer,” Anne said. As she was no longer involved in the investigation, she had not paid much attention to the recent development.

“Let's go up to have a look,” Corentin said.

Marco watched as the three went into the stairway, unable to regain his composure as he thought to himself, How does Anne Vallois know Corentin Lloyd? They seem close.’

Marco was transferred to Luton because he was running an investigation on Corentin, causing his investigation to come to a sudden halt. However, that has confirmed his belief that Corentin had secrets that he was hiding from others at all cost.

Marco had thought that he would no longer be able to continue his investigation after being transferred to

Luton, but it seemed as though the gods had given him another chance.

Corentin walked into the apartment and scanned the eighty square meters space, before looking down the balcony where Dorothy had fallen off of.

Ashlynn studied Anne and noticed that though Anne did not act any differently, she was clearly less talkative. ” Bianca's mother is dead, and she died here?”

Anne pointed at the balcony. “She fell from the balcony and died on the spot, but the police caught the murderer.”

"Why here?” Ashlynn asked. “To frame you?”

"Yeah."

"Who was it? Do you know them?”

“Probably someone I know, but I don't remember,” Anne said, before asking Ashlynn, “do you know a woman by the name Lilian?"

Ashlynn shook her head. “I've only been your assistant for a short period of time, and I've never heard of that person.”

“I heard from Anthony that Lilian is a professional assassin.” Corentin came inside after overhearing their conversation from the balcony.

Both Anne and Ashlynn were shocked.

“I crossed...an assassin?” Anne wondered how she would manage to cross a professional assassin as Anthony had not explained anything to her.

“Forget about it. It's been settled, anyway,” Corentin said. casually.

"Don’t worry, Anne,” Ashlynn consoled her.

Anne nodded. “I know. I'm just shocked.”

Corentin glanced at the time on his watch. “It's still early. We will head back to the hotel and meet you and Anthony for a meal later.”

On their way back to the hotel, Corentin asked, “Did you see the wedding band on Anne's hand?” “I did,” Ashlynn said, “but it might not be a wedding band.”

She recalled hearing rumors in the office before that Anne was never married to Anthony and Anthony's fiance was Bianca. Anne was not wearing any ring the last Ashlynn saw her.

“It's a pair with Anthony's ring. If I'm not mistaken, they've already gotten married.” Corentin narrowed his eyes thoughtfully.

“Married?!” Ashlynn gaped. “Did they...get married after Anne lost her memories?”

If that was the case, it would mean that Anthony had scammed Anne into the marriage.

“That's too much!’ She thought furiously. “How would Anne feel if she ever got her memories back? He took advantage of her when she was in no state of making her own decision!

Ashlynn knew how it felt as she was forced into a marriage with Corentin as well, and she knew the devastation one would feel in that situation.

"Ashlynn, it's fine even if we don't get wedding bands,” Corentin spotted the dark expression on her face and said.

He had meant to console her, not knowing that he had been wrong about what Ashlynn was thinking at the moment.

Corentin had a twisted mind and no one could understand how his logic worked.

Back in the hotel room, Ashlynn suddenly felt a sharp pain in her lower abdomen and wondered if it was the time of the month again.

She walked into the bathroom and sat down on the toilet next to a glass door, the glass door was made with frosted glass, so one would not be able to see through it.

She pulled down her trousers and spotted the small stain of blood. She sighed a breath of relief at the realization that she had gotten her period, knowing that she could not possibly be pregnant. The glass door was pulled open abruptly. Startled, she looked up and found Corentin leaning against the door.” What are you doing?”

"What is taking you so long?” He asked.

“I...I'm getting my period and haven't brought any sanitary pads with me. Can you help me buy some?” She asked gingerly, noticing the darkening of the look in Corentin's eyes.

“You are not pregnant.”

"..I'm not.” She knew that he was frustrated and explained, “You already took the contraceptive pills from me and I can’t do anything to prevent myself from getting pregnant. It's just that I suffered some damages when I had a miscarriage and it's not that easy for me to pregnant again..."
