We stayed until almost all the guests had left before we finally made our leave.

I could completely understand the whole siesta thing now as I needed it after that. Although I knew I was not going to get some rest just yet, with the hungry look on Landon’s face as he helped me out of the car.

“You really think so?” I looked up at him. “Too bad I’m too tired.” I pretended a yawn that actually did turn into a yawn and started to walk into the house.

The evil chuckle that came from behind me was to be expected as I was suddenly swept off my feet and carried up the stairs.

“I’m too heavy, put me down before you get us both killed.”

“That is two red a*s cheeks.”

“Don’t you dare or you will get them back and a night on the couch.”

“Are you threatening me?” his voice was low now, husky and would make any woman wanton!

“Were you threatening me?” I couldn’t help myself and gave him my best mock glare, making him chuckle again.

I was waiting to see if I was going to be lowered onto the bed, my feet or… nope, thrown onto the bed with him following me biting his way up my body through my clothes.

I pulled on his hair and tried to wriggle away “Brat! Stop that.” As he kept going until we were face to face.

“Awake now Amore?” he stopped and stared into my eyes.

All I could see was love, desire and appreciation. The soft, tender facial expression that made my heart flutter, my Landon, my man.

I wrapped my arms around him, staring into those deep pools as I couldn’t stop the smile that spread across my face.

“You’re a trouble maker!”

“Your trouble maker Amore.”

My heart nearly exploded as he slowly took over my lips, deepening it straight away.

One hour later and I finally got some sleep… or I might have passed out on Landon as he tried for round 2. Not sure!

I vaguely woke up to k****s all over my face “I need to get to work. I will see you tonight.” I think he said.

I kissed him hard then pushed him away before falling back asleep to his amazing chuckles somewhere in the room.

Waking up later, I had a big smile on my face. I much rather he do that than the cold bed and a text.

Gi came around later and started training me on the export business. It was all quite interesting and we couldn’t help but do it all with wine in our hands. As always, I took a lot of notes and enjoyed her company.

The week went quite fast with more lunches, lots of training with Gi on my new job when she was home and, of course, enjoying my gorgeous man! Gi took me to some more touristy spots when we had time and some of her friends came.

Gio was back from leave as well, so he was back to training me with some of the others helping out. Needless to say, I am still a klutz, but a klutz that knows how to throw a mean uppercut.

My days were always very full compared to my old life.

It was Friday and we had dinner with the Russo’s at a very fancy restaurant organised. It was going to be a full blown affair. I was warned by Gi so we spent ages picking out outfits, jewellery, shoes and had the hair and make-up artist back.

Gi had helped me pick a beautiful light pink cocktail dress that accentuated my new tan. YES, I HAVE A TAN BITCHES! Although not as good as everyone else’s, but I am still very proud!

Gi and I did a lot of work outside on the patio with wine in our hands this week. The sun isn’t as intense as in Australia although I still make sure to lather myself with sun cream!

Landon got back an hour before we had to leave. Gi slapped him away to go and start getting ready as my hair was just being finished, so he wasn’t allowed anywhere near me apparently. He g*****d, giving her a death stare that would probably freak out 99.99% of the population, but she just rolled her eyes at him, making me laugh.

Poor Bell looked horrified though. I tried to give her a reassuring smile although she didn’t fully relax until she left.

“Have I ever told you how delicious you look and what I would like to do to this body?” that sexy husky accented voice that always makes my knees weak whispered into my ear as 2 big strong arms were wrapped around me.

“No never! You might have to tell me later about it. AFTER the dinner.” I made sure to emphasise, on the after part as I could feel the bulge currently pressing into me from behind, and no, I don’t think it was his gun.

“Do we have to go?” he almost whined like a school girl, making me laugh.

“Of course not. I am sure Ma will be fine with us saying we can no longer go.”

He g*****d and bit my ear lobe. “I’ll tell her we are busy making her grandkids.”

“Do not get her hopes up, that’s mean!”

“That’s enough! Get off her, lets go!” Gi grabbed my arm and dragged me out with Landon growling behind.

“Why are you here and not at Ma’s?”

“Because you have to learn to share, Kate.” She poked her tongue out at him. It was funny on its own, but the fact that she was a stunning woman in a designer dress, made up to the hilt, that would make any man drool made it even funnier.

We had a driver tonight, which unfortunately meant I had to deal with Mr Handsey all the way to the restaurant! I was quite uncomfortable with him trying to feel me up with his sister in the car, but as always, he didn’t care!

When we finally got to the restaurant, he was getting very close to sleeping on the couch!

As always, the kind, loving, fun Landon disappeared as soon as the door opened to the restaurant and the powerful, dangerous Landon appeared. It was amazing watching the transformation within a blink of your eye.

He still helped me and Gi out of the car before wrapping his arm around me protectively before we walked in.

It doesn’t matter how many big meetings you had, how many important people you have met and dealt with, my nerves always took control as I thought of everything I could possibly do to stuff this up.

“Breath Amore! Give us your stunning smile.” Landon whispered to me as we walked in.

It was hard as the restaurant was quiet and everyone tried to pretend they weren’t watching us all walk in.

We drove in the normal convoy with Ma, Tom, Leo and Louie in one of the other several other cars. This means that when we arrived, it was all of us walking in together. Landon and I were in the front, since he is the head, and everyone else behind us.

I held my head high and made sure my back was straight and tried my hardest not to trip over my own feet.

We were led by the head waiter who was sweating bullets to a private dining area. The Russo’s weren’t there yet but we made sure to be early, so I wasn’t surprised.

They arrived not even 2 minutes later though. This time, all 3 sons attended with their partners. The middle son was the male version of the mother, so he looked quite different to his brothers.

All were dressed immaculately, with the men in their suit pants and shirts, whereas the women were all in designer dresses except for Stef’s wife, who had a stunning white pants suit on.

We all exchanged pleasantries, all in English with only Tony’s partner not knowing much English, so he had to translate.

We all sat down with Landon at the head and me beside him. I thought Mr Russo would have been at the other end but he surprised me by quickly coming over next to me, pulling out the chair beside me for his wife before sitting beside her. Ma and everyone else seemed to just wait to see where the Russo’s wanted to be seated and sat around them. It ended up being an even mix all over the table instead of it being us at one end and the Russo’s at the other end.

The conversation flowed and now it was mostly Italian, which I didn’t mind. I felt bad when everyone didn’t speak in their native tongue because of me.

“So how has your second week in Italy been?” Maree asked me with a warm smile.

“It’s been great. I am now learning all about exporting all the family wine and oil as well as still getting out and about with some sight-seeing.”

“They have you working already?”

“I get bored quickly, so I insisted.”

“Ah, a woman with a mind as well as a heart! Will you be involved with the new adventure as well?”

“Only if she wants to, I don’t want to put too much pressure on her.” Landon chimed in and squeezed my hand.

“I don’t know anything about it but I would love to. I love a good challenge.” I could feel every Russo watching and listening to my answer while still maintaining their conversations. Landon’s hand gave me another squeeze.

“Good! Because I think you and I would make a great team and could do a lot together.” She turned to Mr Russo “Les dear will make it happen.”

Mr Russo’s smile was broad as he looked at Landon and nodded. Landon raised his glass to him and nodded back.

Maree picked up her glass and announced “To new beginnings together”.

Everyone quickly picked up their glasses as well. “Saluti” they echoed and clinked their glasses.

The rest of the dinner went well. Someone was always bringing me into some conversation or asking me my opinion on something, but not in a daunting way. I knew they wanted to make sure I felt included and it seemed the Russo’s did as well.

Ma always went to great lengths to compliment me on anything and everything she could, whether it was how I was fitting into the family “like fate” or about me being the “most kind and beautiful daughter” she could ask for. Even though they were still speaking mostly in Italian, unless I was in the conversation, Ma would say certain things like that in English and give me a smile. She cracks me up!

We finally said good-bye and were heading off just after 11, so yes the dinner went very well! I was walking behind Landon on our way through the front of the restaurant when he suddenly stopped making me nearly crash into the back of him. The first thing I heard was a sickly sweet voice before I looked around him to find what could only be described as a Victoria’s Secret model in front of him running her hands up his chest.

“May I help you get your hands off my boyfriend?” I moved to beside Landon as he was grabbing her hands, removing them.

She looked at him in shock and then me in utter disgust before composing herself and trying her hardest to still seduce him while pretending I wasn’t there.

I really have to up my Italian lessons!

I am not proud of what I did next and have said I would never do this in a million years, but I did it out of anger in the moment. I asked for a person to be removed like in the movies! I could laugh at myself by say this was my biggest mobster moment, but I’m too mature for that.

“Leo, can you please take care of this trash and make sure she understands NEVER to touch my future husband again.” Yep, I really did pull a Mafia movie move, getting the muscle involved to take out the ‘trash’.

“With pleasure.” Leo came from the side rounding the table that was in his way and dragged the woman away. He never said a single word to her, as she squealed and begged in Italian, probably to be let go.

Landon turned to me with the biggest Cheshire Cat smile on his face.

“What?” did he really like me having her dragged away that much?

“You called me future husband.” Ah that! Honestly, I didn’t mean to say that, it just slipped out.

His arms circled around me as he crashed his lips on mine in a starving man’s k**s. His tongue instantly took over my mouth as he held me as close as he possibly could.

“Save dat for da bedroom.” Ma interjected as she patted us both on the arms.

I almost had to pry him off me to get air and so we could save it for the bedroom and not in a restaurant.

“Ah young love” Maree had caught up with us “And I must say, good to see you do have a hidden lioness ready to protect her own Kate. Bravo!” she winked at me as we all now continued out.

“Dey are da perfect couple.” Ma almost sang.

I looked at Landon, whose eyes were now promising a very long night of pleasure making me go instantly red… although I was already quite flushed after the k**s anyway.

Landon tightly held my hand on the way out of the restaurant with his thumb rubbing circles on the back of my hand. Leo was outside now with only a few guards. I have no idea what happened to the woman, but I had calmed down now so, I wanted to make sure the woman wasn’t actually hurt.

“You didn’t hurt her, did you?”

Leo laughed, “I knew you would never forgive yourself if I did so no. I just warned her off.” He winked at me and opened the car door for Landon and I to get in.

“So an Ex?” I had to ask once in the car, it was eating me alive.

His smirk was still too big for my liking. “I like it when you get jealous.”

“And I like it when you answer my question. How long did you see her? When was the last time you were with her?”

He sighed, his smile faltering “We were never anything but… casual. I will take care of it.”

“Already done, she would be more than stupid to come near either of you again.” Leo called from the driver’s seat, talking like he was explaining the road conditions, not like he had just threatened someone’s life.

“So back to future husband. Does that mean you would accept if I asked you a certain question?” Landon held my left hand and rubbed my ring finger while looking me in the eyes.

Yes, I am pretty sure all the colour in my face just drained down to my feet. I know that I am falling in love with him, but getting engaged. My poor brain no compute!

While my brain and mouth were trying to start working again to say something, anything that wouldn’t crush him yet, explain that I adore him, so just wait for a bit longer, he spoke again.

“Amore” he chuckled, “don’t worry, I can still wait. Future husband it is for the moment.” He kissed my ring finger and settled back with that grin on his face.

I took a deep breath to steady my heart that was trying to beat out of my chest and looked towards the front. I caught Leo watching through the rear-view mirror but he quickly looked back at the road.
