Not His Type Of Mate -
Chapter 99
Lord Madison's POV
We arrived at the mansion while Nora hurriedly got out of the car and walked into the mansion, leaving me behind. A hard gulp passed my throat as I got out of the car and joined her in the sitting room. When I arrived, I realized the Alphas were still in the living room, all wearing worried faces. "You're here, please do something," Alpha Grey pleaded, and I nodded my head and took the stairs to Leo's room. When I entered, I saw Jayson and Aunt standing beside an unconscious Leo, while Nora sat beside him, tears streaming down her cheek. "Mine," my wolf howled, but I ignored him and made my way to them. "Please help me, son," Aunt pleaded in tears, and I nodded and placed a kiss on her forehead. "Get a grip of yourself, nothing is wrong with him," I assured her and saw her nod.
I went to Leo and stared at Nora, who was shedding tears uncontrollably. She looked up at me, and I swear I have never seen this level of pain in her eyes. "His breath is weak," she mumbled, and I lowered my height and squatted before her. "He will be fine," I said and wiped her cheek with both hands before looking at Leo, who was extremely hot and dripping with sweat.
I placed a hand on his chest and slowly closed my eyes, allowing my wolf to examine him and see what's wrong. "He is having a fight with his wolf," my wolf announced, and I asked why. "Because he wants to go through the rejection process, but his wolf doesn't want it. If they go through with the rejection process, it would be a big risk for both him and the wolf. His wolf and abilities aren't stable; there is danger looming around him," my wolf explained, and I sighed and allowed my wolf to do what needs to be done. After a few minutes of concentration, I opened my eyes and stared at Nora, who was still crying uncontrollably. "Stop crying; he will be fine," I told her and stood upright. "What is wrong with him?" Jayson asked.
"He was having a fight with his wolf, and it sent him into a coma, but he is fine now," I announced and saw Aunt exclaimed in relief and sit on the couch.
I stared at Nora, whose eyes were closed as she whispered words of gratitude to the goddess.
I stared at her and realized she has a deep connection with Leo, and she loves him more than she could ever love me. She is mine, but her heart belongs to him. Many paragraphs are missing. "I will stay here for the meantime in case something comes up," I told Aunt, who nodded gratefully. "I'll go tell the servants to make sure your room is ready," she said and walked away.
"I'll go inform the Alphas that he is out of danger," Jayson said and left. With a tired sigh, I sat on the couch and fixed my gaze on Nora, whose eyes were still welled up with tears.
She was in so much pain that she didn't look my way; rather, she settled her gaze on Alpha Leo, totally ignoring my presence. I stared at her and realized I was wrong about everything. I thought now that she has my mark, she will belong to me and perhaps love me like I love her, but I was wrong about it. Nora only loves one man, and sadly, it isn't me.
Aunt walked back into the room and told us she had prepared a room for us to rest in. She said that she and a guard would look after Leo, and if anything came up, she would alert me.
Nora and I left Leo's room and went to my personal room in the mansion. When we entered, Nora sat on the bed, lost in thought, but I didn't say a word to her. Instead, I took off my clothes and walked into the bathroom.
I turned on the shower and stood under the running water, my eyes tightly closed as today's events replayed in my head.
"Don't jump to conclusions yet; she might just be worried about him," my wolf tried to comfort me, but I knew he was lying.
The way she looks at him, she has never looked at me in such a way. I have never seen such care and love for me in her eyes.
With a grunt, I hit the wall and injured my hand. "Get a grip on yourself," my wolf urged, and just then, I felt arms wrap around my stomach. Without being told, I knew it was her.
I felt her place her head on my back, and we both didn't say a word until I turned off the shower and turned to face her. I noticed that she was also naked, her eyes still clouded with tears, causing discomfort in my chest.
"Are you still worried about him? He will be fine," I comforted her while cupping her head, but she shook her head.
"I'm not crying because of him; I think I'm going insane," she sobbed, but I shook my head. "You are not going insane, Nora..." I tried to speak, but she interrupted.
"You don't understand," she paused and took a deep breath. "I think I'm in love with both of you." She announced, and I gulped.
"I can't deny my feelings for Leo, no matter how hard I try. I find myself drawn to him in a way I can't understand. I keep reminding myself, telling myself that this is a man who has caused me a lot of pain in the past, and I ought to hate him. But the more I tell myself those things, the closer I find myself getting to him..." She gulped and continued, "Maddison, you were my comfort when I was almost losing myself. You gave me love and hope. What I feel for you is something pure and lovely. I love you, Maddison. Your arms feel like home, and I don't know if I would be able to live without you in my life. I love you so much, Lord Maddison. Although I haven't said it to you or shown it, But I know what I feel in my heart, and that is love." She sobbed and dropped her gaze to the floor. Hearing her confession caused a mixture of emotions to swirl within me, but I knew I had to be honest with her.
"Nora," I whispered, my voice filled with a mixture of love and pain, "I appreciate your honesty. It's not easy to admit such conflicting feelings. But love is a complicated thing, and sometimes it doesn't fit into neat boxes."
I gently lifted her chin, looking into her tear-filled eyes. "I love you too, Nora. More than words can express. But I also want what's best for you, even if it means letting you go."
Her eyes widened, and she shook her head. "No, Maddison, I don't want to leave you. I want us to be together."
I sighed, my fingers tracing patterns on her cheek. "I know, Nora, but I can't ignore the connection you have with Leo. It's undeniable, and I can't ask you to suppress your feelings. We can't force love into a mold that doesn't fit."
Nora's tears continued to fall, and I gently wiped them away. "I won't stand in the way of your happiness, even if it means stepping aside. But know this, Nora, I'll always be here for you. No matter what happens, I'll be your friend, your confidant, and the one who loves you deeply." She clung to me, her voice filled with desperation. "But I love you too, Maddison. Losing you would break me."
I held her even tighter, my own heart aching. "I understand, Nora. And it hurts me too. But love isn't always about possessing someone. It's about their happiness, even if it means sacrificing our own," I said and saw her frantically shaking her head. "No, I'm not losing you." She yelled and ran out of the bathroom.
With a grunt, I hit the wall of the bathroom and roughly ran my fingers through my hair as tears welled up in my eyes, but I withdrew them and closed my eyes.
"What were you thinking, saying those words to her?" my wolf asked, and I responded with a groan and opened my eyes.
I hurriedly tied a towel around my waist and walked into the room to find it empty. Nora was gone.
"Nora, where are you?" I asked through the mind link, but she refused to respond. "Nora..." I tried speaking, but she closed off and blocked me from accessing her. "Shit!" I groaned and hurriedly dressed, not bothering to dry my hair.
I left the room and walked into Leo's room to see him still sleeping, while Aunt was by his side.
"Did Nora come in here?" I asked, but Aunt shook her head. "Is everything okay?" she asked, but I didn't wait to give her a response.
Hurriedly descending the staircase, I crossed paths with Jayson at the steps. "Have you seen Nora?" I urgently asked. "Yes, she ran out of the mansion just moments ago. It seems she was crying. That's why I was on my way to ask you what happened," he revealed, causing an ache to surge in my chest. Without wasting a moment, I dashed out of the mansion, desperately hoping to catch up with her.
