After we got back from the bank Yashira gave me the money to give it to Ashley, but Ashley wanted Yashira to give it to her personally or she wasn’t going to give her the deed to the diner. Ashley was acting like a child. The thing is that when Ashley said this Yashira was walking by my office which is where we are now.

‘I don’t know what your problem is Ashley, but you need to grow the f**k up and act your age. I know you are money hungry, and you have the money right in front of you, so I suggest you hand the deed to the diner over-’ I was translating for Yashira but Ashley interrupted me.

“Or what? What is a human like you going to do against someone like me. I’m the Luna of this pack and I suggest you respect me before I make you respect me” Ashley growled. I opened my mouth to say something when the lights in my office started flickering just like it happened the other day at the pack clinic. I looked at Yashira to see her with her eyes closed and her fist balled up tightly. She took a few deep breaths and opened her eyes.

‘You have to give respect to get respect, Ashley. I’m not part of your pack, so you are NOT my Luna. I’m human. You can’t just demand or force someone to respect you. You have to earn it’ Yashira signs and I translate. I could feel how proud my wolf was because of how she just acted. Yashira stood up taking a deep breath again.

‘Like I said earlier, I suggest you have the deed to the diner by tonight or you and I are going to have some real problems. Now if you excuse me I need to go check on my grandmother’ Yashira turned to me and bowed her head in respect then looked at Ashley before leaving the office. Yashira handle that way better than I would have but I could also tell she was angry though on the outside she looked calm. I can’t help but wonder if she’s the one who is doing all this with the lights.

‘Our mate handle that like a true Luna’ Shadow says proudly, and I couldn’t argue with that.

“The nerve of that freak” Ashley snarls snapping me out of my thoughts.

“She’s right though-”

“You’re on her side?” she screeched making my ears ring.

“Stop with the screeching and go get the deed to the diner. I have some work to do” I tell her. She stomps her foot before leaving and slamming the door to my office as hard as she could.

‘And you wanted to choose her as your chosen mate’ Shadow snickered.

‘What makes you think I’ve changed my mind?’ I questioned.

‘Have you lost your mind. We were blessed by the moon goddess with a second chance mate. Why would you want to be with Ashley? You know she still hasn’t found her mate. You really want to take that from her?’ Shadow asked. He was right. Ashley still hadn’t found her mate and here I was thinking about taking that beautiful chance from her. I sighed rubbing my temples and began to work on some paperwork I have.

Where is she? I knew she was angry earlier, but I thought she would’ve been calmed by now. I knock on her room door but there was no answer. I opened the door, but the room is empty.

‘Jeffrey, do you know where Yashira is?’ I mind linked him.

‘She went to check on the diner and the house about three hours ago. She should be back soon’ he links back.

‘Alright thank you’ I tell him before cutting off the link. I had already put my son down to bed, so I got in my car and headed down to the diner. Fifteen minutes later I arrived at the diner. The lights in the house were off but the ones in the diner where open. As I get closer, I see two males inside the diner with my mate smiling. I feel Shadow push forward and before I knew it, I was knocking loudly on the door. Yashira looks at me before opening the door and the stench of rogues hits my nose.

‘Gabriel, is everything okay?’ Yashira signs. I push her behind me and growl warningly at the two male rogues. Yashira taps my shoulder, but I ignore her only for her to tap harder. I see the fear in the two male rogues’ eyes.

“Ar-rgh!!!” Yashira let out a broken scream making the glasses that were on the table explode. The two male rogues’ eyes widen as well as mine. I didn’t know if it was because she let out a broken scream or was it because the glasses exploded. I look at Yashira to see her with her eyes shut tightly. Her chest was rising and falling fast.

“Yashira” I called softly placing a hand under her chin while drawing small circles with my other hand on her back. I ignored the two male rogues as they cleaned up the mess that was made but never left. Yashira soon calmed down and looked at the two rogues.

‘Gabriel, I want you to meet Donovan and his husband Mitch. They have been my friends ever since I got here’ she signs.

“Friends? You do know they are rogues, right?” I ask.

‘They are MY friends and yes, I know they are rogues. They trusted me enough with their secret. That’s why I wasn’t scared when I found out about you and your pack’ she admitted. I look at the two rogues. The muscular one steps forward.

“Alpha” he bows his head in respect “my name is Donovan, and this is my mate, Mitch.” The other one, Mitch bows his head in respect.

“It’s nice to meet you both. I apologize for how I acted just now” I apologized.

“It’s okay, Alpha. Is not the first time we get that reaction” Mitch says.

‘Why are you here Gabriel? Is grandma, okay?’ she signs rubbing her throat. Mitch goes to the kitchen and comes back with a cup of water.

“Lita is fine. I just came by to see if you were okay. You have been gone for quite a while and I got worried” I admitted suddenly finding my shoes very interesting. I felt eyes on me, and I look to see three pairs of eyes looking at me and for some reason I felt embarrassed.

‘I… uh… I’m fine. We’re just decorating for Halloween. This way grandma doesn’t have to do it when she gets back’ Yashira signs.

“You took hours just to decorate in here?” I asked looking around at the decoration.

“Not just here Alpha. We also decorated Lita’s house” Donovan says. I nod my head in understanding. Donovan and Mitch move to the front door, and I turn to my mate only to find her already looking at me.

‘Have you eaten?’ she asks me.

“No, how about you?” I asked her.

‘Not yet’ she replied.

“Everything is done Yashira. We’re going to head home now” Donovan says.

“If you need help when Lita gets back don’t hesitate to call us” Mitch says giving my mate a hug followed by Donovan. They turn to me and bow their heads “Alpha.”

“You both have a goodnight and thank you” I tell them.

“Come on. I’ll make us something to eat at the house” I tell her. She turns off all the lights and locks up the diner. I open the door for her, and she thanks me as she gets in. I get in the car and start driving home. The scene of the glasses exploding keep flashing in my head.

‘I think that the glasses exploding and the lights flickering in the pack clinic and your office have something to do with our mate’ Shadow says.

‘I do too’ I admitted.

“May I ask you something?” I asked Yashira. She nods her head before looking out the window as we pulled up to the pack house.

“Why are you living with your grandma?” I asked. I watched her tense while looking out the window.

‘I’ll tell you one day when you have something strong to drink, and you join me for a few drinks’ she smirks.

“You do know that it’s hard for werewolves to get drunk, but I think I have the perfect thing in my office” I tell her.

‘Well, you are going to have to find something that will be strong enough for you as well or you won’t be hearing why’ she signs with a smirk as she opens the door.

“Alright, then let’s have dinner and then have a few drinks in my office” I tell her.

‘Not in your office’ she signs shaking her head.

“Okay? Then where?” I asked her.

‘My balcony. You can see the beautiful stars and it’s a full moon tonight’ she signs.

“Sounds good” I tell her. We make our way to the pack house, but first we pass by the kitchen getting some dinner and take it up to her room. I quickly head back down to my office and grab the two bottles I have with two shot glasses and make my way back to Yashira’s room. When I walked in a saw, she had changed her clothes to a short silk nightgown. She reached for her silk robe and smiled at me. My heart thumped hard in my chest.

‘Shall we? I’m starving’ she signed.

“Oh… yes. Would you like to eat here or the balcony?” I asked.

‘Here, then we can go to the balcony’ she signed. I nodded and we sat down to eat.

“So, when you were in Puerto Rico, what did you like to do for fun?” I asked her.

‘I don’t like to stick with one thing. I love to try different things and keep myself active. School was the most important though. Besides school I would go surfing, hunting, drive around the coast, or go exploring different places’ she signed.

“That’s awesome. Did you graduate high school?” I asked her and she nods yes.

“What are you planning to do now?” I asked.

‘I applied to an online college. I love designing and making clothes’ she signed proudly.

“Wow, that’s great. So, you know what you want in life” I said taking the last bite of my food. I looked at he and saw she was already looking at me with a look I could decipher. She looked away and I watched her swallow while pushing her empty plate away. We stood up and walked to the balcony. It was already dark out. Her room was the only one on this side of the pack house. It was also the only room with a balcony. I looked around. The balcony rails were covered with a thin white sheet stopping anyone from looking in.

“You did this?” I asked her.

‘Yes, I like spending time here when I can. I didn’t want anyone looking at me while I sat or laid here’ she says spreading the blanket on the floor with a few pillows. She sat down and patted the seat next to her. I opened the bottle and poured two shots.

‘Get to know mate. I can feel it that she’s not like the hunters. Please give mate a chance’ Shadow pleaded. I sighed pushing him back.

“Let’s get to know each other better” I said handing her a shot. She looks at me before looking at the shot and nods.

“What’s your favorite color?” I asked.

‘Black’ she signed.

“That’s not a color” I chuckled.

‘I don’t have a preference of color, but if I had to choose one, I would say gold. How about you?’ she signed.

“I like royal blue. Favorite music?” I asked.

‘All. I don’t have a preference’ she signs and looks at me. We continued like that for about two hours laughing and getting to know each other. I told her about werewolves, the ranks, and I even showed her my wolf. I found out she has an older brother who is in a band and on tour. We finished out first bottle and I went to my room to get another one. When I returned, she was laying back looking up at the skies. She looked extremely breathtaking as the full moon shone down on her.

‘Aren’t they beautiful?’ she asks.

“Yes, they are” I replied, but I wasn’t looking at the stars. I was looking at her.

“Yashira, why don’t you speak?” I asked her taking a seat next to her. She looks at me before looking back up at the stars. I gave her another shot, and she downed it.

‘My parents were killed in a car accident. They were coming back from one of dad’s MMA fights when they were hit by a drunk driver who had his lights off. The hit was so hard that my parents car exploded. By the time first responders got there were hardly any bodies to bury. My brother came back from his tour with his band to attend the funeral, but since I had stopped talking and fell into a depression he stayed for a month until his manager started telling him he needed to go back on tour. He left, but text every day’ she signed as tears streamed down her face.

“I’m so sorry Yashira. How did you find out about what happened?” I ask.

‘My father’s trainer who also happened to be our neighbor was driving the same highway when he saw what happened. He said he wanted to help my parents, but the car had exploded. The best thing he could do was hold on to the man who caused the accident and their deaths. The man didn’t want a trial. He pleaded guilty to drunk driving, operating a vehicle with a suspended license, and two counts of manslaughter. He was sentence to life’ she signed. She turned her face not wanting me to see her cry, but I was not having that. I pulled her into my lap. She looked up at me with those big, beautiful, innocent brown eyes and I couldn’t help myself. I kissed her.
