Chapter 1702 That Sounds Tough

Brett contemplated for a moment, then silently took the piece of paper.

That evening, fresh and delicious watermelon slices were served at the dining hall.

The volunteers enjoyed their meal, and Sally also seemed delighted.

"But it's so weird, though," Sally looked at the meal on the plate and said, "As time went by, it seems that our meal has become tastier!"

Elijah looked at Sally as if she were an adorable child.

He had heard people talk about Sally before, with many saying she was delicate and pretentious.

But what they didn't know was how easy Sally was to take care of.

"We'll go buy some local pastries for them later." Elijah suggested. He plucked a crumb that had landed on Sally's hair.

"Are they tasty?" Sally's eyes immediately lit up.

Elijah nodded. "Not bad."

"Then I'll buy some for Micah too!" Sally really liked the somewhat absent-minded but strangely mature Micah. "Alright," Elijah agreed.

After finishing their meal and helping with the cleanup in the dining hall, Sally and Elijah left through the side door. They found a bakery just outside the church, in the same alley as Mr. and Mrs. Reed's fruit store.

News of Elijah's return had already spread throughout the old neighborhood,

so when Elijah and Sally arrived, the bakery owner was only briefly surprised.

While Elijah chatted with the owner, he handed over a list of the pastries they needed to the clerk.

After that, Elijah immediately introduced his wife.

Sally ignored the scrutinizing looks she received and politely greeted everyone.

They ordered several large boxes of pastries.

The owner also gave them another box, saying, "This is a traditional pastry for good luck. Congratulations on your marriage!"

Sally's eyes welled up with tears.

She took the box and said, "Thank you, sir!"

"Elijah is not getting any younger. You two should have a kid as soon as possible. The next time you come, I'll have some pastries for your little one!" The owner laughed heartily. Sally blushed but gracefully nodded. "We'll do our best!"

Elijah couldn't help but chuckle.

The shop owner also laughed out loud.

The pastries were packed into their car.

The sun was setting, creating a magnificent scene above the ancient church.

"It feels like the old church is bidding us a gentle farewell," Sally said romantically.

Elijah looked at her, smiled, and nodded. "But... Mrs. Patterson, do you really have a plan to have a child?"

"Mr. Patterson, don't you?" Sally was surprised.

Elijah had initially teased Sally, but he didn't expect her to take it so seriously.

He felt a bit bewildered. "I'll follow your wishes."

"No need to rush. Which couple wants to have children when they're still enjoying the passion of their love?" Sally swung Elijah's hand. "Let's enjoy ourselves first!" Elijah's eyes trembled slightly.

Enjoy ourselves...

That sounded amazingly good.

It was indeed wonderful!

In the church, men and women lived separately.

As they returned to the church, they were about to go their separate ways when they encountered Micah, who looked exhausted.

"Hey, you're just in time!" Sally was holding a small bag of pastries with popular flavors meant for Micah.

"Mrs. Patterson, Brother Elijah," Micah approached and greeted them.

"What happened to you? You look exhausted," Sally exclaimed.

"They found out what I had done this afternoon," Micah glanced at Elijah, speaking in a cryptic manner, "I had to dry and organize two large crates of scriptures, and I only just finished. I didn't even have dinner!"

"That sounds tough!" Sally quickly handed the pastries to Micah. "These are for you. Enjoy!"
