Chapter 1373 Times Have Changed

With hopes of a fluke, Eddie followed Liam all the way to the president's conference room.

Eddie was no stranger to Chelsea or Athena.

In the beginning, the marriage between the Ross family and the Crawford family was ruined by Athena, who was a secretary then. The thought of killing Athena had crossed Eddie's mind back then. His illegitimate son and daughter were all in her hands.

In terms of ability and capability, Chelsea was the most outstanding among the younger generation, and Rose had appointed her in the position of successor.

He had been trying to find a way to become acquainted with Chelsea.

It never occurred to him that Chelsea and Athena would turn out to be the same person.

He entered the conference room.

For the first time, he saw the young and beautiful woman.

"Mr. Ross, I've heard a lot about you."

Athena greeted him graciously and then motioned for Eddie to sit down.

Eddie couldn't help but heave a sigh of relief.

Although they had gained a great advantage in the cooperation project with Imbe Group, it was possible that Athena was just momentarily overwhelmed because she had just taken over Imbe Group.

Or maybe she simply did not want to lose the cooperation. After all, both parties would have to suffer losses if the cooperation ended.

It was really unnecessary to incur heavy losses for the sake of some gains.

"I've heard of you for a long time too, Mrs. Crawford. I'm glad to finally be able to meet you today," Eddie said, behaving like an old rich gentleman.

Athena smiled and said, "You must be very disappointed, aren't you, Mr. Ross?"

The smile on Eddie's face froze for a moment before he replied with a wry smile, "Of course not."

Athena looked away and said, "Let's get back to business. Since the project is about to begin, let's clarify some details."

Eddie responded and was about to take the contract signed by Annie from the secretary behind him.

Before he could do so, Athena's assistant placed another document in front of him.

"What's this?" Eddie asked as he looked at Athena in confusion.

With the same expression on her face, Athena said, "It's a new contract. Please have a look."

"New contract?"

Annie's assistant, Geroge, who was standing in the crowd silently, couldn't help but frown. He said, "Mrs. Crawford, haven't we already finalized the contract a year ago? How did the new contract come about?" Athena looked at Geroge and said, "It's you."

Geroge's face turned sullen, and he continued, "In the previous contract, Annie... We have already made a lot of concessions."

"Really?" Athena withdrew her gaze and looked at Eddie as she said, "But Mr. Ross, things are not what they used to be. You wouldn't be so naive as to think that you can still collect dividends from Imbe Group after setting up a trick to kill me and my husband, would you?"

"Mrs. Crawford, it was Robert who tricked you and your husband. Miss Annie Ross was also deceived. I went to see her and asked her for a full explanation of the matter! Robert began his cruel plan for revenge after he knew that Miss Ross had been diagnosed with cancer. He only found Miss Annie Ross two months before the incident and set a trap to lure her in!" Geroge said in a deep voice, "All this while, Miss Annie Ross has been trying to communicate with you, but you keep refusing to meet her. Turns out it's because you wanted to accuse the Ross family for a long time and use this as a reason to diminish the interests of the Ross family in the cooperation."

Eddie was silent.

His silence was consent to Geroge's statement.

Athena's tone was cold as she said, "Why should I care about how Annie got in touch with Robert and how she ended up down and out? I only know that Annie is involved in it. Geroge, since you are so eloquent, go on. I want to hear how you clear her name after everything she's done."
