My Mommy Became A Billionaire After the Breakup -
Chapter 1332
Chapter 1332 No Appetite
Evie questioned, "Is Athena back?"
Logan whispered, "She is, and she's in the kitchen with Rose, getting ready for the Christmas Eve dinner. Just focus on your in-laws and families. There are always eyes on Athena, ensuring she's safe..."
Evie quickly said, "Good, keep her spirits up. I'll be back right after Christmas Day here."
Not wanting to persuade her otherwise, Logan replied, "Alright then."
After ending the call, Evie hung her head low, lost in thought.
Aron walked in from outside just then, carrying some pastries she loved.
"Thinking about Athena again?" Aron asked, setting the treats on the small table before sitting beside Evie.
With a sigh, Evie nestled into Aron's arms, and Aron naturally held her close.
"Why is fate so cruel? Everything seemed to improve when they were finally mending their differences..." Evie choked back tears, and she quickly covered her eyes. Aron then sighed gently after hearing.
"Sweetie, don't think about that now. You've barely eaten anything today. How about some of your favorite pastries? They're fresh out of the oven," Aron softly urged Evie.
Evie then glanced at the pastries he offered.
She knew she could devour a whole plate in one go before.
However, at this moment, she didn't have the slightest appetite.
"I'd like an orange," Evie mumbled.
Aron quickly grabbed an orange, peeled it, and fed her a slice.
After eating a few pieces, Evie felt much better. Her heart's heaviness lightened considerably.
"Aron, maybe I should head back in two days. You can stay here and spend Christmas Day with mom and dad," Evie suggested.
"They probably wouldn't prefer only having me around for Christmas," Aron responded with a slight sigh, "I'd rather go back with you. I feel things will get hectic at Imbe Group once Athena's back to work. It might be good to talk to her beforehand and see if I can help."
"Alright," Evie responded with a nod.
Aron then proceeded to feed her another slice of the orange.
It was soon time for the Christmas Eve dinner.
Strangely enough, even though they were only missing Evie but had two extra children around, the evening should've been more vibrant.
Yet, as Athena looked around, an unspoken loneliness permeated the room.
Then the thoughts of Byron's discussions about celebrating their first Christmas as a family of four filled Athena's mind, causing her heart to ache deeply.
Suddenly, she remembered their last conversation when they had last parted.
She had told him that she would never forgive him...
Despite being fully aware it was the one thing he dreaded most, and she still blurted it out without hesitation.
"Mommy." Aiden's voice sounded beside her.
She immediately pulled herself together, plastering a smile on her face. "Did Ottilie look for you?"
Aiden remained silent, only reaching out to hold Athena's hand.
Seeing this, Athena felt a sting in her eyes and a sudden wave of emotion.
"Martin said Dad prepared fireworks, and they've been brought over. We can go see them after dinner," Aiden murmured.
Martin had made a grave mistake, allowing the boss to be kidnapped under his watch, leading to an uncertain fate.
Now, he couldn't muster the courage to face Athena.
"Sounds good," Athena responded, crouching down and gently touching Aiden's cheek. Tears started to well up in her eyes, hard to hold back. "This is a Christmas gift from Dad. We need to watch and enjoy it wholeheartedly, okay?"
Aiden nodded before reaching out to embrace Athena tenderly.
"Mommy, don't worry. Mia and I will always be with you," he murmured near Athena's ear.
With a heavy heart, Athena closed her eyes and held Aiden tightly.
Meanwhile, Mia and Ottilie were sneakily snacking in the dining room.
When Mia caught sight of the emotional scene between Athena and Aiden, she felt utterly lost.
She turned to Ottilie and said, "Ottilie, maybe we shouldn't push Aiden to learn to fight anymore. You see, just a simple mention from me, he becomes so stressed that he needs Mommy's comfort."
