Chapter 1039 Mom Didn't Seem Happy

Caspian finished taking the call from Athena.

He had been in a state of distraction.

Now and then, his mom's appearance when she was alive would come up inside his mind.

Chelsea was right.

As far as he could remember, Mom never seemed happy.

Mom was always in tears, talking about who she missed so much.

Before she had Greg, she asked him out of the blue one day, "Would you blame me if I went off to find my freedom?"

She was really happy those days.

She seemed to look forward to something every day.

But...

When did she start being unhappy again?

Right. It was when he told Dad that Mom said she was going to find her freedom. He also asked Dad if Mom didn't want him anymore when she went off to find her freedom. Caspian remembered that he was really worried then.

He was worried that he was going to be a kid without his mommy.

Later...

Caspian sat in his office chair.

How could he not remember what happened later?

The memory suddenly went to when Mom had Greg.

How could she be pregnant with Greg again if she was leaving?

The more Caspian thought about it, the more anxious he became.

At that moment, the cell phone rang shrilly.

Caspian broke out in a cold sweat and snapped out of his memories.

The caller ID showed that it was Dahlia.

Caspian sighed, picked up the phone, and said gently, "Honey, what's wrong?"

Dahlia laughed. "Dad just called and said he was going to stop by the house to look for something... I haven't been alone with him, so do you want to come back?" "Looking for something?" Caspian frowned.

He subconsciously stood up and took a big step outside. "Did he say to take anything yet?"

"No."

"I'm going back now!"

Caspian hung up and left the office at a quick pace.

He was now defensive of Brian. He didn't know exactly what Brian was going to get. But the fact that Brian didn't call him, choosing to call the less familiar Dahlia, was intentional. Caspian's place was close to the office.

It was a ten-minute drive.

When he arrived home, Dahlia wasn't there.

He gave her a call.

Dahlia was buying fruit at a nearby fruit store.

Caspian tugged on his tie.

He sat on the couch and had a cold cup of coffee when the doorbell rang.

Dahlia could fingerprint to unlock the door, so it couldn't be her.

Caspian got up with a cool face and went over to open the door.

Brian had a loving smile on his face. His face immediately sank when he saw it was Caspian who opened the door. "Aren't you at the office?"

"Something came up, and I came back. What are you doing here?" Caspian stood in the doorway, not letting Brian in.

"It's good that you're here. I have something to tell you." Brian spoke, gave Caspian a shove, and strode inside.

Caspian was speechless.

He sometimes wanted someone to tell him that.

Brian wasn't even his dad.

If so, he wouldn't have to tolerate him so much.

He followed Brian inside.

Brian sat down on the couch. "Where's Dahlia?"

"What do you want?" Caspian frowned. "There's been enough going on in the family. Will you stop making trouble for a moment?"

"Why is so much happening?" Brian looked to Caspian with an angry snarl. "Your wife started it! If she had been a good girl and not messed up, would there possibly be a day like today?"
