It seemed like Kailee had once asked Lewis what would happen if he ever got hitched-would he just toss her aside?

Truth be told, Kailee never really saw herself as his girlfriend. After all, they'd only shared a kiss. Lewis never officially defined their relationship, but he did say, "If you're worried, you can stick around with me for now." Kailee figured, why not? So, she went along with it. But being together felt off. Everything about it just seemed... off. The night they decided to be an item, Lewis suggested sharing a room. Kailee was taken aback. Moving in and sharing a room right from the start? What's next, sharing a bed if they got married? No way. So,

she stirred up a fuss about it, as a pretext to break up.

On top of that, there was the whole drama with the Sanchez family constantly weighing on her. Every phone call from them left her in tears. Naturally, she vented her frustrations on Lewis. Lewis was stubborn too, refusing to break up. Until that last time, when he said, "Fine, let's break up."

Kailee, always concerned about appearances, had talked about breaking up so often it seemed like no big deal. But when Lewis said those words, she felt humiliated and hurt. The day he went to work, she packed her things and left a note. "I never really liked you, so let's break up and let each other go." She shed a couple of tears as she left the note. After all, he was the first man she'd ever kissed.

To heal her heart, she tagged along with her brother to Saudi Arabia, where she met King and quickly forgot all about Lewis. Her mind was like her appetite; when she liked something, she stuck with it until she was sick of it, rarely trying anything new. Just like her later love for money and diamonds, wishing she could decorate her whole room with them. And then there was this little diner she had been coming to for years without getting bored.

Only recently, when she bumped into Lewis again, did she remember her ex. But Lewis had changed. Gone was the guy who'd let her walk all over him. Now, he had a sharp tongu@that left her feeling deflated. "Auntie, can I get another serving? I'm still hungry," she said, her mood lifting as the waitress added more to

her plate.

"I should've stopped here before meeting my friend," Kailee mused. "Probably won't be a next time, though. She found out today that the guy she's been chasing after is my ex. She's probably fuming. Can't bear to look at me, I bet. But that doesn't bother me. In fact, it makes the food taste even better."

She never liked Rubin and had

wanted to tell her about kissing

Lewis, but without him there, Rubin

would've thought she was just

boasting. But today, with Lewis around and Rubin's face a picture of

dismay, Kailee was feeling triumphant. So much so that she pulled out her phone and sent a message to their group chat.

"Sorry, Rubin. Just found out the guy I dumped ages ago is your dream guy. Maybe I'll chat with Lewis, see if he'll take you instead. Seems he's been single all these years."

Just as she was about to dive into another bowl, feeling victorious, a hand tapped her shoulder. "Even if you want to mock someone, at least stick to the truth," said Lewis, having seen the message she'd sent.

Kailee's face turned red with anger.

"How dare you snoop on my messages?!" she snapped, standing up so quickly she didn't notice the waitress who had brought her food, covering her mouth in surprise The waitress was old but quick on the uptake. When had she ever seen her son mixed up with a woman like this? And the diner's food happened to be exactly to Kailee's taste. It all seemed too planned.

Kailee was fuming, angry that Lewis could intrude into her favorite dining spot. It felt like even the air was tainted now.
