Master of his heart (Max and Brielle) -
Chapter 1409
Jules was doing her best to keep up with King, hanging on his every word and action like he was the most fascinating person on Earth. If King tossed even a tiny bait into the water, she'd be right there, showering him with praise as if he'd just discovered electricity. However, the fish were far from impressed by Jules's gushing, darting away at the last moment each time she spoke up. This happened not once, not twice, but three times. Yet, Jules didn't seem to realize she might be a bit intrusive, eagerly peppering him with questions about relationships. "Mr. Haywood and Samuel seem to get along great. It looks like she really takes care of him. When Mr. Haywood is with you, Mr. Dorsey, do you guys have interesting things to chat about?"
"I heard Mr. Haywood was quite a big shot in the welfare world ages ago. You two must have some generational differences, right?"
"It seems her main talent is being book smart, only recently recognized by the Lynch family. Before that, she was just like the rest of us."
In just three sentences, Jules managed to undermine all of Brielle's impressive traits.
"Have you had enough?" King asked, his voice calm but with a weight in his gaze that made Jules feel like she couldn't meet his eyes. She shifted uncomfortably.
"What's wrong? Did I say something wrong?"
King chuckled lightly and tossed his fishing line back out. "Just like the rest of us? Were you always at the top of your class? Did you get into Beaconsfield College as a valedictorian and keep that up? Is that what you mean by 'just like us'?" Jules's face turned crimson at his question.
"Which school did you graduate from? Let's see if you're in the same league."
Jules hadn't even finished middle school and had been working since she was young, completely unaware of how tough it was to maintain academic excellence. King's words were sharp and left her speechless, tears of frustration welling up. Who's to say those top grades weren't the result of cheating?
Meanwhile, the live stream audience was equally riled up.
"Mr. Dorsey really cares for Brielle. Jules was being a nuisance, and he didn't react until she started belittling Brielle. That's when he got angry."
"My blood pressure just went up. How can someone be so oblivious?"
"I remember before Brielle was
acknowledged by the Lynch family,
Beaconsfield College was already
vel
behind her. She must be extraordinary. How dare Jules compare Brielle to an average Joe? That totally dismisses all her hard work. It's disgusting."
But Jules had her supporters too, claiming the criticism was too harsh for someone not even twenty, and that Max's reaction was out of line. The live chat exploded with opinions, turning into a lively debate.
Unaware of the online chaos, Brielle had arrived at the orange grove, her eyes lighting up at the sight of the ripe fruit. It was a new and exciting experience for her. Samuel, too anxious to let her do the work, quickly stepped in.
"Mr. Haywood, let me take care of this. You should rest."
Brielle, amused by his clumsy eagerness, set her basket down. "No worries, Samuel, I think it's pretty fun."
Together, they picked a good
amount, and as Brielle tried to carry it back, Samuel, worried the weight might trip her up, had her back. Their cheerful teamwork was captured by the camera crew, filling the live stream with a warm vibe, much appreciated by Samuel's fans.
"Brielle is so down-to-earth, but our dear Samuel is way too nervous, LOL."
"Am I the only one who didn't realize how handsome Samuel is?"
"I bet the orange Brielle's holding is for Mr. Dorsey."
Sure enough, the camera zoomed in on Brielle holding the most perfect orange, causing the audience to collectively swoon.
