Mafia Billionaire’s Forlorn Wife -
Chapter 44
“I’m going to f*****g kill Christopher.” I growl the moment I read through the news articles and the video that is currently going viral on every social media platform.
It is merely a five second long video but it is more than enough for me to see my wife getting close and cosy with Christopher f*****g Young. Much after the end of last night’s gala.
She is standing so close to him that it almost looks like their lips are touching and I can even see the sight of a soft grin on her lips.
Everyone is speculating that she has been having an affair behind my back and more clips and videos of her out and about in the city are surfacing all over the internet.
Including the fact that she was seen entering Leo’s apartment building in the late hours of the night, but those who don’t know that it’s Leo’s place are also contemplating that Arabella went back to Christopher’s apartment instead.
However, I know that to not be the case, but that realisation is not enough to lessen my anger even one bit.
Especially considering the fact that she lied to me about going home, leaving me in that blasted gala— where by the way, I only took her because I wanted to mend things between us— and then, to top it all off, it turns out that she was hanging out with Christopher all along.
The same man I punched the same night.
There is even a story about how I punched him that night because I found out about my wife’s affair and she got upset because of that and left the gala to be with him.
I run my hand through my hair, feeling like hurling my phone into the bookshelf beside me.
Shaking my head, I walk over to the green armchair before flopping down on it and throwing the phone onto the coffee table as I reach over and pour myself a glass of scotch.
However, right before I can gulp it down to calm my raging thoughts, the door of the library opens and Nikolas walks in with his phone in his hand.
“Have you seen this?” He asks urgently as he flips the screen towards me and yet again, there is that video of Arabella and Christopher in a darkened room with the city lights flashing behind them.
I grumble under my breath before gulping down the drink in one go as I slam the glass down on the table.
“Is that answer enough for you?” I glower, glaring at nothing in particular as he comes and takes a seat in front of me. “I’m going to f*****g kill that bastard.”
“Do you think they’ve been going behind your back for longer?” He asks me in a nervous manner and I give him a sour look.
“The f**k if I know.” I grumble, even though there is a tiny voice in my head that isn’t ready to believe this.
“Rhys…” Nikolas trails off, sighing and looking away.
I know that this is something he does when he has something to say but isn’t ready to say it. I clench the armrest of the chair tightly, almost digging my fingers into the leather as I mutter exasperatedly, “spit it out, Nik.” Tell me my wife has been unfaithful to me.
He meets my eyes and looks unsure before he says, “you know the media right? We’ve both seen the photos they are always posting about your rendezvous with different women. When we both know that they aren’t true.”
I glare at him, “this is a video, Nik. She is very much in it and from what their surroundings suggest, they are in the Needle. She is wearing the dress that I gave her for the night, for f**k’s sake. And she told Amelia that she’s leaving because she feels unwell. She didn’t even have the courage to come straight to me!”
Nikolas nods his head, “I get all that, Rhys, but tell me, if she was actually doing all this behind your back and if Christopher was hanging around Bella then wouldn’t you have found out? Something or the other would have ticked you off, Rhys.”
My heart flutters slightly, as if agreeing to what Niko is currently telling me. However, I ignore the stupid organ and shake my head instead.
“Even if this is the first time that they’ve been together, even if she hasn’t been going behind my back, she still lied to me, Nik. And god she’s a good actress…I mean the way she looked uncomfortable when Christopher greeted her…she fooled me for a second there.” I can’t believe how stupid I have been when it comes to this woman.
Nikolas rolls his eyes, “Rhys, for heaven’s sake, this is a very short clip. No one could know what exactly happened there unless you access the feeds. You’re a smart man, Rhys, you know how the media is so good at twisting everything. And are you actually believing Amelia? How many times do I need to tell you that she is not good for you?”
“I am seriously not in the mood for this right now, Nikolas.” I glower, deliberately using his full name to send my point across, “I don’t know what reason you have found to hate Amelia but I am not going to sit here and listen to you b***h about her in a moment like this. I don’t have the energy for it.”
That seems to rile him up further as he snaps, “the reason why I don’t like her is because she is a manipulative, selfish, and hateful b***h who cares about no one but herself and has you wrapped around her finger like a fool. I get it that you feel responsible for her but taking her word as the Gospel is the most infuriating and dumb thing that you do.”
“Oh?” I chide, “and what exactly did she do in this case? Tell me that my wife left the party? How is she manipulating me here? Enlighten me please.”
Nikolas looks like he is about to give up on this entire situation as he rolls his eyes, “look, if you want to sit here and simmer in your anger, then fine. I’m not gonna stop you. But when your senses are working again and you’re not acting like a f*****g caveman, I want you to investigate this matter while I work on getting all these stories out of the media. All this attention that you’ve been getting in the last few months is not pleasant for the business. Some of the buyers are actually trying to back out; it’s a good thing they’re too scared of you to actually do it.”
And with that, he stands up and starts to leave before my voice stops him, “the ones who are backing out,” I say without looking at him, “get rid of them.”
“On it.”
“And,” I add, finally meeting his stare as his words start revolving around my head, “find the footage of the entire event and the hours after. Find out every single piece of camera recording that is there. The main hall, the lifts, the bathrooms, the lobby…everything.”
Nikolas nods his head and is quick to walk out of there before I run my hand through my hair, frustrated out of my mind by everything that is happening at present.
I don’t understand anything that’s going on. However, one thing is certain that not even Dominico has managed to rile me up the way Arabella has.
She has a vice grip on me and she doesn’t even know it. Just seeing that video…just thinking about it…it has my mind swirling with anger, frustration…and a little bit of pain.
Even the thought of her close to someone else is maddening.
That is when I pick up my phone, dialling one of the numbers on my speed dial—
“I told you I would need 48 hours to do the tasks you gave me. It has only been 48 minutes since our meeting, Mikhailov,” Viktor’s voice comes from the other side.
I take in a deep breath, “let those tasks simmer on the back burner for now. Find out where Christopher Young is and bring him here to Tartarus.” I tell him knowing exactly what the consequences of a known business man disappearing could be, “do it discreetly. Not a word of it should leak unless I decree it.”
“Consider it done.”
At the sound of the call ending, I get up and decide that it is now time to pay my wife a visit.
If she wants to play hide and seek, then she should know that I will never stop hunting her.
And it’s a good thing she’s with Leo right now. Poor guy might just become bait for her to get what I want.
Because if she has actually betrayed me, then she won’t even see what’s coming for her.
