Love’s Change of Heart -
Chapter 205
Chapter 205 Too Many Thugs Leanna got back home and plopped down on the sofa. I'm beat. Zoe came out of the bathroom with a mask on.
"You're out late.
Had supper with Elijah?"
Leanna moaned weakly.
"And I ran into Aidan too."
Damn.
She sat down beside Leanna.
"Again?" She was astonished.
"How did you run into him again?" Leanna laughed, but she didn't elaborate.
Even talking was too much for her. Zoe adjusted her mask.
"This is a cruel joke.
You guys can't be together, but you can't cut all ties with him either.
That's damning."
Leanna stared ahead listlessly for a while.
"How's Tiffany doing?"
"The doctor said it's just a scratch.
I Venmoed her the money for her bill and gave her two days off to rest up and heal." Leanna nodded.
"She must be shocked.
We need to see her after work tomorrow." "Sure." Zoe said, "If you ask me, those ladies were a pair of troublemakers.
You run into all sorts of people nowadays.
Scammers used to roam the streets, and now they're targeting shops.
Can't believe they thought we were easy prey." Leanna didn't answer right away.
A moment later, she said, "I think the girl was forced into it by her mother." "Yeah, I noticed it too.
Her mother was a witch.
I thought she would curse us." Zoe turned around and was met with a spaced-out Leanna.
Oh, she's thinking about it right now.
"It's alright, Nana." She patted Leanna's shoulder.
"It's in the past now, Nana.
Stop thinking about it.
We just have to be true to ourselves." Leanna refocused her mind and smiled at her friend.
"I get it.
Now get some sleep." ... When she arrived at the studio the next day, Leanna was greeted by a pile of garbage at the entrance.
The air itself was filled with the stench of rotten food and refuse. Zoe came over after she parked the car, and when she saw what happened, she cursed, "Holy f*ck. Which *sshole did this?"
Leanna said nothing.
She got some cleaning tools and cleared the garbage away. Zoe helped, and she hissed, "I bet it's that b*tch.
Look at her.
She looks like your stereotypical witch." Leanna said, "I don't think she'll stop here.
Look out for yourself." "I'm ordering us some surveillance cameras and installing them all over the shop.
The moment she shows up, we ring the alarm bells." Since Tiffany was absent, only Zoe and another girl were running the shop.
Fortunately, nothing happened the whole morning, but something felt off. The business was usually decent.
Most of them were window shoppers, yes, but there weren't even that many window shoppers that morning. Zoe knew that woman must be behind this.
She was going to see what was going on, but Leanna held her back. "Ignore her.
Let's see what she's trying to do." Zoe said, "So you're saying..." "Not sure." Leanna looked outside.
"I just think something's off.
She was trying to scam us, but it's true that we sold the stuff.
She wouldn't come after us for no reason." "Yeah, it's super weird.
Like she came outta nowhere." Leanna said, "Let's see what happens." After lunch, Leanna was about to go back into her office, but then she heard a commotion happening outside the shop. That woman decided to change her approach.
She was stirring up a storm outside the shop.
"You slimy b*stards! My daughter's only seventeen, and you scammed all her money! How evil can you get?" The commotion attracted a bunch of pedestrians.
They blocked the entrance just to see what was going on. Leanna remained in the shop and stared at the trampled flowers outside calmly.
Something was going through her mind. The girl in the shop was getting scared.
She whispered, "I think we should call the cops." Leanna replied, "It won't stop her from coming back." "What should we do now?" Leanna didn't answer her as she saw no solution to this.
That woman knew no shame and would do anything for money, but at the same time, she wasn't committing any crime.
The cops would just issue a warning, at most. Eventually, the woman became exhausted.
She decided to just lie down and stopped anyone from entering the shop.
She would yell at anyone who tried to come near and scare them away. Zoe felt like throwing knives at that b*tch, but anger couldn't solve anything.
This was a war of attrition.
The woman would still come back the next day even if they chased her away. Time passed, and a sliver of sunlight shone through the window.
It was almost blinding. Aidan slowed down and looked at the woman before he went into the shop. The woman didn't even open her eyes.
When she heard his footsteps, she yelled, "F*ck off! You're not getting into this shop unless you step over me!" And then Aidan stepped over her. The woman screamed and sat up.
"You stepped on my hand!" Aidan ignored her and told Jonathan, "Deal with this." He didn't even look back. Jonathan stepped forward.
"Yes, sir." Leanna and Zoe were astonished by how he dealt with the woman.
He might be an *sshole, but sometimes he can deal with stuff in ways we can't imagine.
Karma's a b*tch, and now that woman just had a taste of it.
Nobody can hold him hostage.
Conventional wisdom doesn't work on this guy. This wasn't the first time Jonathan dealt with a jerk like this woman.
Talking was useless.
He waved his hand, and two bodyguards came over to drag the woman away. The woman screamed, "Who are you guys? Let me go or I'll-" And then she was silenced. William followed Aidan inside. A moment of stunned silence later, he chuckled.
"You always go for the most efficient solution." Aidan said, "I don't waste my time on inconsequential people." He then shifted his gaze to Leanna.
"My time and energy are limited, after all." Leanna scratched her head.
Almost forgot about their visit.
She approached the gentlemen and greeted them.
"Hello, Mr.
Morris, President Pearson."
William smiled.
"I see you ran into trouble, Miss McKinney."
"Nah.
I just seem to attract a lot of clingy, screaming characters these days." Who's she calling clingy and screaming.
