He implored, "Mitchel, if you hear anything from Jarrod, please let me know."

"Understood," Mitchel assured.

Raegan looked at the clock. Dawn was approaching. Thinking about Mitchel's tired appearance, she regretted calling him at such a late hour. It's late. "I shouldn't keep you awake."

Suddenly, Mitchel asked, "Will you be able to sleep?"

"How do you say?"

Mitchel, who understood Raegan well, added, "You tend to stay awake when something is bothering you."

Raegan was stunned. He was right. With the current turmoil, sleep seemed elusive.

Then Mitchel suggested, "Open the curtains and look outside."

Sitting near the window, Raegan stood up and drew the curtains.

As he did so, he began, “Mitchel, are you…?”

Raegan stopped mid-sentence. Next to the entrance to his villa stood Mitchel, looking towards his balcony.

Raegan was stunned. "Did you come running from the hospital just for this?"

Through the phone, Mitchel's voice was reassuring. “Yes, I was worried about you.”

Raegan felt a surge of warmth at his gestures, leaving her struggling to find the right words.

Mitchel, leaning against his car, was glad to see Raegan on the balcony. He reassured her: “Try to rest. I'm here".

Raegan, moved, responded: “You shouldn't be here. "You need to rest."

"I can't sleep either," Mitchel confessed.

"Because?"

Mitchel simply responded: "Your worries don't let me sleep."

Raegan was speechless. The summer night was humid. Feeling some pity for him, she asked him: "Would you like to go up?"

Raegan watched the cloudy sky, anticipating that a storm might arrive soon.

Although Mitchel's car could be cooled with air conditioning, Raegan wasn't sure if blankets or similar items were available. Furthermore, considering your poor health, sleeping in the car could only make you feel worse.

Mitchel remained silent.

Raegan then realized what she had just unconsciously suggested, reflecting on how she had unintentionally started to worry about him.

Regretting what she had said, she wanted to bite her tongue: “Um… Maybe you should go back. "I'm going to sleep."

She was about to draw the curtains, preferring out of sight and out of mind.

«Are you leaving already? Shall I ring the bell? Mitchel's voice carried some urgency, as if he were in motion.

Raegan, startled, looked towards her car and didn't see him.

She saw him approaching the main entrance. «How did you get there? she exclaimed in surprise.

The door of the villa had a facial recognition system that only allowed those registered to enter.

"Janey added me," Mitchel revealed.

Raegan was speechless at the little "traitor."

Mitchel's voice broke the silence: "I'm here, waiting for you to let me in. "Okay." Raegan regretted her words but couldn't take them back.

Raegan tiptoed down the carpeted stairs, her fluffy slippers exposing her toes, making her way silently toward the door. He pulled it open.

The moonlight illuminated Mitchel's handsome face.

Raegan felt her heart skip a beat at the sight. She scolded herself for constantly being captivated by his meticulously sculpted face.

“Please come in.” He turned his face to the side, avoiding her gaze.

When Mitchel entered, he closed the door quietly.

Raegan's outfit was an apricot silk nightgown trimmed with white lace, accessorized with white open-toed slippers. Her freshly washed face shone with freshness, her softness and charm were impossible to resist.

Mitchel looked at her with an intensified look, congratulating her: "You look beautiful."

“What was that?” Mitchel's voice was soft, making Raegan strain to catch his words.

Mitchel came closer and said again: "The nightgown suits you very well."

Raegan felt uncomfortable with him so close. He stepped back and said, “Please keep your distance…”

Before Raegan could finish, the light in Annis's room abruptly turned on. Then, the door opened from inside.

Panicking, Raegan pushed Mitchel against the door and then stood on tiptoe to cover his mouth, fearing any noise he might make.

Forgetting their height difference, this move caused Raegan to stagger, almost causing her to fall.

Mitchel quickly put his arm around Raegan's waist, pulling her close to steady her.

Raegan rested her face on his chest. The only thing he heard was the strong, constant, rhythmic beating of his heart. “Thud, thud, thud…” echoed every heartbeat.

Some noises echoed in the kitchen. It was Annis drawing water to drink.

Sensing Raegan's stiffness, Mitchel's comforting pat on her back did little to ease her tension.

Raegan grew even more eager at the warmth of his touch. His heart was beating faster and his breathing quickened slightly.

Finally, Annis returned to her room after drinking water.

Eager to take a step back, Raegan felt as if her feet were rooted to the spot, unable to move back.

"Stay still." Mitchel's deep, resonant voice reached her.

Raegan was surprised, feeling her hand captured in his.

Raegan tensed, an innate reaction to backing away, but Mitchel ran her hand from the back to her fingers, holding them gently.

Then, his dry, slender fingers gently separated each of her fingers, squeezing them firmly.

This unexpected interlocking of fingers startled Raegan's heart, sending it racing like a deer.
