Love Unbreakable by Bank Brook -
Chapter 463
? ? ? ? ?
Memories of the past emerged in Raegan's mind like a slideshow.
«This is the divorce agreement... Don't be ridiculous... Lauren's condition is serious... Be reasonable... How could you be so heartless...?
Don't use those childish antics..."
Every word felt like a dagger, piercing deep into Raegan's heart.
Sweat ran down her temples as she huddled in anguish.
In the midst of the confusion, Raegan saw Mitchel hugging his past self, who desperately pleaded: "Mitchel, save us... Save our son..."
Painful memories flooded Raegan's mind like a dam about to burst, leaving her on the brink of collapse.
Taking the opportunity, Lauren pointed the long, thin needle at Raegan's neck. Its sharp tip glowed with a menacing light as it lunged forward.
Mitchel's dark eyes widened in alarm. Just as he was about to act, he suddenly heard something.
“Argh!” Raegan's cry of pain echoed through the room.
Mitchel's heart skipped a beat. Just then, the needle hovered a millimeter away from Raegan's neck.
Without hesitation, Mitchel grabbed the syringe. He felt like he had been bitten by a mosquito when the needle pierced his palm.
The next second, Mitchel's body went limp, numb and helpless.
Ghosts danced before Mitchel's eyes. He shook his head violently and bit his tongue hard. The metallic taste of blood brought him back to reality, if only for a moment.
“Bang!”
Mitchel launched a strong kick that sent Lauren crashing into the door panel. Lauren couldn't even make a moan before she passed out.
Raegan's hand felt as cold as ice, and her heart pounded with pain.
Seeing his agonized expression, Mitchel's heart twisted painfully and he felt completely helpless. He held onto her tightly. His grip was so intense that his fingers turned white. He was desperately trying to transmit his warmth to her.
“Raegan, Raegan…” His eyes filled with burning fury. How he wished he could endure her pain and protect her from harm.
At that moment, a flood of people burst in. Medical personnel and law enforcement officers poured in.
As Lauren was taken away, paramedics came over to place Raegan on a stretcher. However, Mitchel held on to Raegan and refused to let go.
Perhaps because of the syringe's infection, despite knowing the urgency for Raegan to receive medical attention, he dared not let go of it, fearing that it would disappear like it once did five years ago.
As the medical staff approached, Mitchel's rage erupted and he roared, "Don't you dare touch her!"
Intimidated by his ferocity, the medical staff hesitated to approach him and could only plead: "Sir, please do not delay emergency treatment..."
"Fuck off!" Mitchel bellowed, his temples throbbing and his body trembling with emotion. His mind felt hazy, alternating between drowsiness and clarity.
Deep down, he swore that he would not allow a repeat of what happened five years ago. He wanted to make sure Raegan didn't come to any harm. Not with him still breathing.
"Mitchel!" Devonte pushed through the crowd and grabbed Mitchel's shoulder tightly. With a penetrating look, he urged: "Let the doctors treat her first."
His friend's words gradually calmed Mitchel's frenzy. With bloodshot eyes and a voice choked with emotion, Mitchel whispered, "Save her."
Tears of pain streamed down Mitchel's face, a stark contrast to his usual imposing and proud bearing. «I beg you... Save her...».
Once the initial shock had passed, Devonte put a comforting hand on Mitchel's shoulder and reassured him: "Everything is going to be okay."
Seeing that Raegan had suffered no visible injuries, Devonte concluded that her condition was likely due to psychological trauma.
With prompt treatment, there should be no major problems. But even so, Mitchel's emotional state was still worrying.
Mitchel followed Raegan to the ambulance.
While the locker room was being emptied, the police sealed it off to collect evidence. Among the objects discovered were two syringes.
Matteo stayed behind to help with the investigation. Reviewing the surveillance footage, he was shocked to see the syringes. What could they contain?
At the entrance to the room, Mitchel anxiously asked the doctor about Raegan's condition.
«The patient did not suffer serious injuries. However, a head injury from a severe blow in the past left residual blood clots. The reaction is likely due to stimulation of the clot…”
"That?" Mitchel blurted out in shock. "Had he had a head injury?"
"Yeah. It seems like it happened several years ago. "Although the clot is not large, its location is quite delicate, so surgery was not performed."
Mitchel's lips drained of color. A persistent blood clot for years…
Mitchel doubted Raegan would suffer living with the Foster family. After all, he had witnessed Erick's indulgence firsthand.
Furthermore, Raegan seemed to have lived a privileged life.
The only plausible scenario was when Raegan fell into the river after the car accident five years ago.
A sharp pain shot through Mitchel's chest, leaving him gasping. Such a possibility had never been considered. He couldn't bear to think about what had happened to Raegan after she fell into the river...
The thought of her desperately clinging to life hit Mitchel like a tidal wave. He had narrowly missed her.
At that moment, a barrage of hammer blows seemed to hit Mitchel's head.
He reached out and grabbed his head. Simultaneously, his body swayed unsteadily. Then, with a loud bang, his once tall and imposing figure collapsed to the ground.
"Mister!" Matteo ran to the doctor and begged him: “Quickly! Save him!
"They have injected him with an unknown substance."
Moments ago, the police had reviewed surveillance footage and seen Mitchel, in his final moments, holding the needle that had pierced Raegan.
Raegan did not regain consciousness until the next day. His mind was clearer than ever. Mitchel's cruelty, the death of his grandmother, the heartbreaking loss of his son Every detail.
