Outside, a storm of camera flashes and endless clicking awaited them.

Word had spread that Jarrod had paid a wild five times as much for the Hilpton acquisition, and reporters were quick to grab a major scoop.

They had not anticipated encountering such a scene just as the elevator doors opened.

It was an opportunity they couldn't miss, quickly capturing photos.

The journalists already imagined their headlines. Jarrod Schultz squanders a fortune for love…

Jarrod's eyes narrowed, realizing he had fallen into a trap.

Spreading his reckless move to buy Hilpton for five times its value would cause serious problems for the Schultz company.

At that moment, Jarrod didn't care about anything else, he turned just enough to protect Nicole from prying eyes, pulling her into his arms.

He reached out to close the elevator doors.

The elevator began its ascent.

Jarrod turned to her. «We can't go back now. How about we stay here? I just bought it. Choose the room you want.

Nicole laughed. “You really have gone crazy.”

To find out which room she was in, he had bought an entire hotel at a bargain price. Only someone completely crazy would do something like that.

Nicole scoffed: "If I change hotels, are you planning to buy every one I move to?"

"Maybe. “We could see the beds in several hotels,” he suggested, leaning in once more to kiss her.

Nicole gently pushed him away, showing that she was not interested.

Jarrod's gaze turned icy. «What is the problem?

Nicole leaned nonchalantly against the elevator wall, looking at him.

"I've lost interest."

Jarrod's gaze was meaningful, his voice soft. “So, how about we go to your room, try out that bed, and find out who can take you to the top?”

Nicole's expression turned into a frown as she looked at him. "You've lost your mind!"

Jarrod replied with a smile: "Madly, but only for you."

A soft smile flickered in Nicole's eyes. Her actions since she returned were to test him, to find out if he still had feelings for her. It seemed that her charm did not go unnoticed by him, or perhaps it was something deeper.

However, these things seemed minor. What really counted were his companies and his assets. Maybe it wouldn't be so easy to convince him.

Nicole concluded, with a hint of sadness, that perhaps he was only attracted to her figure. When it came to important matters, Jarrod's more inflexible side came out. With that in mind, he realizes the magnitude of his feelings for her.

Nicole playfully raised a finger, tilting her chin up. “Keep this in mind, Jarrod Schultz, whether or not I find joy in this has nothing to do with you. I barely registered you as a minor lover.

“Nothing to do with me?” Jarrod let those words escape his lips before continuing to act. Without waiting for his response, she reached for the buttons on his chest. "Let's make some connection then."

He then made the elevator stop. A button was quickly undone.

A shiver ran through Nicole. Even though the elevator stopped, the cameras were still watching. He grabbed Jarrod's arm tightly, his face pale and cold. “How dare you!”

Jarrod laughed even harder, his laugh taking on a mischievous tone.

He lowered his head, gently pressing his forehead against hers in a teasing tone. «Nicole, have you forgotten who I am?

He tilted his head slightly, a playful smile on his face. "If it's something I want, there's no barrier I wouldn't cross."

As he spoke, his hand continued to explore, advancing without hesitation. He seemed unwavering in his intentions.

Nicole's body tensed from the tingling sensation, her anger boiling to the point where she could only respond with a laugh. Then, he stretched out his slender fingers and pinched her chin. «I said no, Jarrod. Are you going to force me?

Jarrod's deep, dark eyes met Nicole's bright blue ones. Noticing the disdain and coldness in his gaze, he hesitated for a moment.

She gently touched his cheek. "If you try anything, I won't hesitate to call the police."

Just when Nicole was sure he would argue, he surprisingly chose to back out. His voice was even. "You think you're very smart playing with me."

It was a statement, not a question.

Nicole looked at Jarrod and her lips curved into a teasing smile.

«So what if I am? Maybe it's time for you to stop playing too.

“I'm in,” Jarrod said, grabbing her wrist, his voice deep and resonant. "I'll play your game, but you won't play with anyone else."

Nicole scoffed. «Jarrod, I decide who I spend my time with and how I spend it. Do you really think you have anything to say about it?

Jarrod's heart skipped a beat. He knew very well that his behavior in the past gave him no reason to ask him for anything. However, despite realizing this, he was unable to let go.

He looked at her, his voice soft. «Nicole, I understand what's going through your head. You despise me and seek revenge. I have my limits. Please don't put too much pressure on me. You are free to treat me as you see fit.

Nicole just laughed. «How will I know where your limits are if I don't test them a little? Do you really think that a person who has faced death would fear your supposed limits?

Nicole's brash and arrogant attitude left Jarrod powerless to fight back. Unable to reply, he clenched his teeth and said vehemently, “Okay, Nicole. Whatever you want".

Nicole gave a small smile. "I appreciate the recognition."

The atmosphere in the elevator became tense. She began to feel uncomfortable and her face darkened. “Could you let me go now, please?”

Noting her paleness, Jarrod relented, pressing the elevator button with a little force. He then took her to his workplace.

Before getting out of the vehicle, Nicole held out her hand. "My phone, please."
