Love Unbreakable by Bank Brook -
Chapter 411
? ? ? ? ?
Roscoe understood that it wasn't just about him confessing his love for her. It was about helping Nicole not be afraid to love and be loved again. Although he knew it would be a challenge, he was willing to face any obstacle because of what he felt for her.
Nicole remained silent. Standing in front of the mirror, Nicole caught a glimpse of her reflections. She realized, perhaps for the first time, how tall Roscoe was, easily a head and more above her. His usual choice of shirt gave him a slender appearance.
But now, fresh out of the shower and wearing a tight white T-shirt, the outline of Roscoe's waist and defined abs were clearly visible through the material. He was the classic example of someone who looked thin in clothes but was surprisingly muscular.
Nicole's face, probably flushed from the heat of the blow dryer, shone, highlighting her soft beauty.
When he finished drying her hair, Roscoe stood there, apparently reluctant to leave. “Nicole, you know, having you around is never a bother to me.”
Nicole stood still for a moment, moved by his words. Others had promised him many times. However, it was Roscoe's promise that warmed her heart, offering a gentle touch of reassurance. He always had a way of comforting her without making it obvious.
Having said that, Roscoe put away the hairdryer and headed for the exit.
"Let's go see Austin."
He moved quickly, almost as if he didn't want to give Nicole the chance to say no.
Seeing Roscoe, who normally acted with such maturity and composure, indulge in a few rare moments of childishness made Nicole's eyes shine with affection.
His room was a luxurious suite, made up of two connecting rooms.
Opening the door, Roscoe discovered that Austin was already fast asleep.
He stepped aside, allowing Nicole to enter, and then quietly left to give them some privacy.
The room, bathed in soft light, highlighted Austin's notable features as he slept. Her long eyelashes, her prominent nose bridge and her thin lips stood out.
With his eyes closed, he looked a lot like Jarrod.
Nicole approached, taking advantage of those quiet moments to look at and gently touch Austin.
Austin's lips, affected by his heart condition, lacked the usual pink hue among children his age, showing instead a slight purple color.
Nicole experienced a whirlwind of feelings, discomfort, sadness and something indescribable.
He extended his hand, hesitated, withdrew it, and extended it again.
Suddenly, as if aware of her presence, Austin's small hand grabbed one of Nicole's fingers tightly, just as he had done when she was born. His lips trembled slightly as he whispered, “Mom…”
At that moment, Nicole felt overwhelmed, as if lightning had struck her, her heart hurt intensely. The tears she had been holding back began to fall onto her arm. She tried to steady her breathing, saying softly to herself, “I'm sorry… I'm sorry, honey. Mom has made a lot of mistakes..."
When Roscoe entered, he saw Nicole asleep next to Austin, curled up in a ball.
Austin's little hand was still clutching Nicole's finger. Her eyelashes were wet, a sight that made Roscoe's heart flutter.
He realized that Nicole was not as cold as she seemed. Her tender side came out when she was alone. She was in more pain and more exhausted than anyone knew.
Not wanting to disturb her sleep, Roscoe gently covered her with a light blanket and made sure Austin was comfortable before leaving.
As he left the room, Roscoe noticed Nicole's phone buzzing quietly on the table. An unknown number kept calling.
Raising an eyebrow, Roscoe guessed who it might be.
As soon as Roscoe picked up the phone, a man's frantic voice came to him.
«Nicole, come here right now. I'm telling you..."
"He's sleeping," Roscoe interrupted.
There was a pause on the other end, then the sound of the man breathing heavily.
"I need Nicole to pick up the phone!" Jarrod spat the words through clenched teeth.
Roscoe kept his tone light. «Don't you understand? He's sleeping. But if you have a message, I am here to convey it to you.
The sound of Jarrod's teeth grinding filtered through the phone. «And who are you? "Who the hell are you?"
Before Roscoe could respond, Jarrod exploded: “Listen. Don't you dare touch her! Don't move it. Leave immediately or I will make you regret it.”
Roscoe's voice was calm and imperturbable: "Do you think you can still do as you please in Ardlens?"
In the past five years, the once dominant Schultz Empire had noticeably declined. The wonders he had accomplished in less than three years had been undone by his own indulgence, leaving many undertakings unattended.
However, Jarrod remained among the top ten magnates of Ardlens, his influence diminished but still significant. He was not someone easy to challenge.
Enraged, Jarrod asked in a stern voice, "Who exactly are you?"
Roscoe responded with a light laugh: “My identity is not important.
Just know that you will never be with her again.
Jarrod felt those words hit him hard. The thought of Nicole being forever out of his reach was unbearable. He was determined to get her back, refusing to give up.
But Roscoe's next words hit him even harder. "You would remember that you are not worthy of her if you had not forgotten what you did to her and her family." Roscoe's tone was flat.
It was a reminder of Jarrod's previous evil deeds, a fact that could not be undone.
Roscoe ended the call without saying anything else. Did not delete call history. I wouldn't cheat on Nicole. He was thinking of confessing what he had done.
After a brief pause, Roscoe made another call. Once connected, he said, "Leroy, I'm at the Hilpton and I don't want any trouble."
Once the instructions were given, he stared into the night, his gaze frozen.
Meanwhile, below.
Alec, looking exhausted, came to report: "Mr. Schultz, the staff at the Hilpton say they can't share any details about the guests."
Schultz, feeling a storm inside him and with cold eyes, Jarrod ordered: "In the morning, I want the paperwork ready to take over the Hilpton."
