Mitchel had no desire to coerce Raegan into paying him a visit. But if Luciana asked Raegan to visit him, it suggested a willingness on her part to get to know him.

Mitchel's discomfort was palpable as he grappled with his own humility, fooling even himself in his introspection.

Luciana, surprised by Mitchel's words, felt a moment later a pang of unease at his request.

Despite his affection for Raegan, no one could compare to Mitchel, especially when it came to life or death situations.

On one occasion, the news of Mitchel's injuries had almost made his heart stop. The memory of that fear still made his heart race.

Despite knowing that Mitchel was out of danger, the doctor's words could still make her tremble with fear.

Luciana believed that if Mitchel married a woman for whom he had no special affection, he would be able to remain calmer and refrain from getting involved in risky ventures.

With solemn concern, Luciana advised Mitchel: “You once caused Raegan a great loss and now you have saved her life. It is balanced. Now you are divorced. Let the past stay in the past.

Mitchel, surprised that Raegan had revealed his divorce to Luciana, felt a shadow pass over his face.

Looking at his mother, Mitchel confessed: "I don't want a divorce. I've never wanted it. My mind is stuck on Raegan. "I can't imagine a future where she isn't by my side."

These words left Luciana not knowing how to respond.

“Why are you so stubborn…”

"I'll see her myself if you don't do it for me," Mitchel declared, determined, and tried to get out of bed, only to find himself breaking out in a cold sweat from the effort.

Luciana, alarmed and pale, urged him to return to bed, giving in: «Okay, stay. "I'll make him come see you."

Luciana's unexpected call surprised Raegan.

After their last meeting, he had not anticipated any further communication, especially friendly ones. He suspected Mitchel's influence.

However, now that Mitchel was engaged to Eloise, Raegan wanted to sever all ties.

It was time to close the chapter between them.

Therefore, Raegan politely declined Luciana's request.

To his astonishment, Luciana insisted, "Regardless of your history with Mitchel, he is hurt because of you. It is your responsibility to take care of him. We'll talk about everything else later."

Luciana's words had the weight of an ethical obligation, but they were true.

With no other options, Raegan obeyed and took a taxi to the hospital.

In an unexpected turn in the hospital parking lot, he ran into Henley, who was there to pick up medication for his mother.

Henley was worried because Raegan had not been reached for days and, although they had finally spoken, his excuse of fever and lack of telephone response seemed dubious.

Finding her now in the hospital only increased his suspicions.

However, since Raegan hid the truth from him, Henley preferred not to investigate further.

Entering the lobby, they separated and Raegan took the elevator to the upper floors.

In the VIP room, Mitchell was sitting in a wheelchair, staring out the window.

Ever since Luciana had mentioned Raegan's imminent arrival, she had maintained her vigil. However, his current state did not allow him to sit still for long.

Matteo, watching this, couldn't help but feel sorry for Mitchell, who remained silent, his impatience to see Raegan evident.

However, Matteo couldn't help but notice how Mitchell's usually calm face suddenly turned icy.

To Mitchell's dismay, after such a long wait, the first sight he caught was of Raegan in the parking lot with Henley, their apparent proximity suggesting an unmistakably intimate closeness.

This vision hit Mitchell like a blow. He thought that Raegan had been with Henley all this time, without coming to see him after his awakening.

Mitchell's complexion faded into a ghostly pallor, his heart felt as if it had been torn apart and tossed aside, the agony so intense it stole his breath.

A few moments later, with a steely expression, he returned to bed.

Matteo, taken aback by Mitchell's abrupt change of mood, held back his questions.

Shortly after, the door to the living room opened and Raegan entered.

Matteo, sensing a change in the atmosphere, greeted Raegan and discreetly left, leaving the two in a silent confrontation.

Raegan, however, remained silent.

Mitchel's striking features had lost their color, her usually vibrant and seductive lips were now pale.

It seemed like delicate porcelain, exquisite but fragile.

Tears unexpectedly welled in Raegan's eyes.

He had overestimated himself.

Mitchel's fragile appearance instinctively attracted her compassion.

Approaching the bed, his voice barely whispering, he asked: "Are you feeling better?"

His voice, charged with emotion, betrayed his inner turmoil.

Mitchel, however, seemed to ignore her concern.

He scoffed.

«Why do you care?

His words left Raegan speechless, sensing his resentment toward her.

But the reason for his anger escaped him and he preferred not to investigate.

Raegan unscrewed the lid of her thermal pot and served a bowl of porridge to Mitchel.

This porridge was intended to help Mitchel in his recovery. It had taken him some time to prepare it, which explained his late arrival at the hospital.

He offered the bowl to Mitchel, suggesting, "Try some porridge."

But Mitchel, with an icy look, remained silent. Instead, he feigned interest in a business magazine.

Raegan held out the bowl patiently, but Mitchel showed no intention of accepting it.

Feeling a little uncomfortable, she placed the bowl on the nightstand.

A somber air filled the room.

Confused by Mitchel's coldness, Raegan simply sat down and started texting Nicole.

Mitchel's irritation increased as she saw Raegan texting so casually, thinking she wasn't willing to pay him a visit.

He bit his lip, holding back his anger, afraid to lash out at Raegan once more.

Soon, Mitchel made to stand up, the wound on his chest protesting the movement with a tight tug, darkening his expression.

Raegan, moved by compassion, instinctively extended her hand to help him.

Applause! Mitchel's hand fell sharply on his.

His slap was forceful, filled with aversion to his touch.

The sting left Raegan's hand red and her eyes immediately watered.

Alexis had insulted her, called her names, but none of that compared to the pain she felt now.

Mitchel's reluctance to see her was obvious, but he didn't let Luciana know. If I had, she wouldn't have come.

«Mitchel, if my presence bothers you so much, I'll leave. There's no need".

Reagan's eyes brimmed with tears, ready to spill at any moment.

Mitchel grimaced, his patience exhausted.

«Are you in a hurry? Eager to meet your boyfriend? Then, of course, go!”

Anger clenched Raegan's jaw.

First it was Alexis' blatant insults and now Mitchel's mocking laughter.

Why was he subjecting himself to such degradation?

She had come of her own free will, only to be mocked and belittled!

The tears she had fought to hold back were streaming down her face.

Running her hands silently over her cheeks, Raegan turned to leave.

However, as soon as she reached the door, a dull noise echoed behind her.

She stiffened, turned, and found Mitchel slumped on the floor, his face ashen.

Alarmed, she ran to his side.

There he was, motionless, with pain marked on his face.

Raegan's heart skipped a beat and tears filled her eyes.

«What's wrong with you, Mitchel? You're scaring me. Can you get up?

Mitchel lay motionless. The gauze that had been placed on his chest had become bloody.

Fear gripped Raegan and her thoughts scattered into oblivion.

Regaining his composure, he shouted, “Doctor! "Someone help me, please."

There was silence. Frantically, he pressed the call button. As she tried to get up, a hand pulled her back…

A wave of terror washed over Raegan's face.

He leaned with all his strength, avoiding falling on Mitchel.

Realizing that it was Mitchel who had grabbed her, anger flared inside her.

"Mitchel, have you lost your mind?"

However, he gripped her wrist more firmly, the smell of blood growing stronger.

Desperate, Raegan twisted to escape.

«Let go of me! "I have to find you a doctor."

Mitchel seemed not to hear, looking at her with unfathomable depth.

«I don't need a doctor. "I need you," he murmured.

Ignoring her injury, Mitchel pulled Raegan closer, pressing his lips against hers with intense passion.
