Chapter 1668
Chapter 1668:
? ? ? ? ?
The man took off his handkerchief and wrapped it around his hand. “It's easier to deal with you when you're down,” he said, his voice cold and menacing.
Jamie, weak and sore from the kick, thought he wanted her body. She had survived by selling herself for years. “Will you sleep with me? You can do whatever you want, Mr. Bates. Have fun.”
To her surprise, the man let out a cold, mocking laugh.
“Sleep with you?” The man loomed over her, his voice dripping with contempt. “Do you think you are worthy? “I do not degrade myself with disliking women like you.”
Jamie was about to ask him what he intended to do when his eyes suddenly opened. His mind was shocked with realization. “I know you! “Oh my God, it’s you!” I have exclaimed.
Jamie pointed at the man, her eyes filled with recognition and disgust. “You're the lawyer, right?”
Jamie remembered seeing him before: he was the lawyer who had represented Nicole. She had seen Rhett on television and remembered seeing him when he had followed Nicole.
Jamie was shocked to discover that the seemingly refined Mr. Bates had hidden in plain sight, disguised as an ordinary person.
She had always perceived Rhett as an intellectual, not someone capable of violence or physical confrontation. But now, as her eyes snapped open, she realized how wrong she was.
She looked at Rhett, pleading. “Please, I'll do anything. Just…”
“Shh!” Rhett silenced her abruptly, bringing his finger to his lips in a sharp, menacing gesture.
That single “shh” sent a chill down Jamie’s spine. She stiffened in fear, her skin slick with cold sweat, beads of perspiration running down her face like tears. Her voice caught in her throat.
Rhett's lips curved into a faint, sinister smile. Then, with a swift, deadly movement, a flash of steel flashed in his hand, followed by a dull thud as it struck.
"Hi, my name is Rhett."
“Ah!” Jamie let out a bloodcurdling scream that pierced the sky.
The first blow missed her vital organs, but the pain was still unbearable, leaving her breathless and staggering.
Then Rhett struck again, seeking out the vulnerable gaps between Jamie's ribs with his sword. The sharp steel slid in with deliberate, agonizing slowness, each inch a new torture, making Jamie howl in agony.
Rhett’s voice was eerily soft as he whispered, “This is where the knee joints attach. The next point will be the ankle joints. The pain will be… distinctive.”
“But…why?” Jamie's voice was barely audible, a weak, raspy whisper struggling to escape his dry throat.
“Not everything in life has a clear answer, Jamie. Just as your past misdeeds went unpunished, the universe messes out its own justice. It is simply a matter of cause and effect, a balance of karma. You must understand that the principle remains the same,” Rhett said as he struck again, his sword cutting through the woman’s joints with precision, severing her tendons and rendering her limbs limp.
Jamie screamed in agony, but Rhett showed no emotion, lost in his own dark thoughts.
"I almost became a medical examiner, fascinated by anatomy, but law paid better. I chose the quickest way to make money," Rhett said casually, as if chatting with a friend, despite the horror of his actions.
Jamie moaned in pain. “You promised to free me if I killed Jarrod! You lied. Why?”
“Yes, that's what I said, but…” Rhett's sword sliced through his joints with calculated precision. “I don't trust you,” he continued, his voice void of emotion.
