Chapter 1644:

? ? ? ? ?

Jarrod had insisted on receiving treatment outside the country, worried that someone might try to harm Alec if he stayed. That unknown person seemed to be pulling the strings behind the scenes, probably orchestrating the entire series of events.

But what exactly was the brain's purpose? That remained a mystery. Jarrod suppressed his emotions, anticipating the mysterious individual's next move.

Conor commented: “I recently discovered that a janitor had found a pen on the floor. She took it home for her grandson because it looked cute. When I questioned her about anything strange, she remembered the incident.”

Showing the concierge the pen, Conor declared, “Here it is.”

Jarrod examined the pen, noting its weight and value. It looked very much like his usual personal thoughts, but Alec rarely allowed himself to write. When he did, he preferred anything that was comfortable. It was unusual for him to carry such a luxurious pen.

This pen contradicted Alec's rough demeanor.

Conor shared Jarrod's perspective and continued: "Alec never held a pen like that. Following investigation, he has been identified as a favorite of the Uchaesau royal family, for which a considerable sum is paid.

Most people don't notice the brand of a pen, but it implies that its owner is a dedicated writer and uses it frequently. Although his refinement is feigned, it is a facade he diligently maintains.

Conor's astute analysis hits the nail on the head, providing a clearer picture of the elusive mastermind behind the scenes.

“If this is a noble's pen, then its users in Ardlens should be few and far between. Thoroughly investigate Uchaesau’s orders, exploring any possible links to Ardlens,” Jarrod ordered.

This individual had always eluded detection. The only lead they had – the pen – was unpromising. While they operated in plain sight, the mysterious individual lurked in the shadows, putting them at a disadvantage.

Jarrod silently swore that he would catch the mysterious individual before Nicole gave birth, neutralizing the threat.

“And locate Jamie,” Jarrod ordered. Jamie probably had connections to this mysterious figure; Otherwise, she would not have been intruding into his life, possibly acting on his orders.

Now Jarrod harbored suspicions that everyone around him might be entangled with this mysterious individual. I have pondered what kind of person could weave together such a myriad of characters.

He was intrigued by the naivety of his methods. And what revenge drove this person to such extremes? All aspects remained in the dark.

Nicole walked into Rhett's room. She still had an IV attached and looked pretty fragile.

Worried, Nicole asked, “Mr. Bates, do you have a fever today?”

"A little, but nothing serious," Rhett replied.

"I brought you some rice soup. I noticed you were quite hungry yesterday."

Before arriving, Nicole had brought takeout food. Seeing the lunchbox thrown into Rhett's trash made her feel guilty.

With no one by his side, Rhett lay alone in the hospital.

Rhett said quietly, “Leave it here. “I’ll eat it later.”

Nicole, eager to help, said, “If you're hungry, I can open it for you and leave it here. “It will be easier for you to eat.”

“That would be a big help,” Rhett replied without a word.
