Chapter 1609:

“Hello, Dr. Torres,” Nicole greeted.
“Miss Lawrence, hello. You have not shown up today. If you have taken the medicine for the past three days, you must come to the hospital today. Otherwise, it poses a threat to your body,” Kash said worriedly.
I often saw patients who neglected the prescribed medication, and only sought medical help when complications arose, such as bleeding, which endangered their health.
"I haven't taken the medication," Nicole replies.
"No? That's good to know. So, have you decided to keep the baby?” Kash asked.
“I'm still thinking about it. Thanks for your concern,” Nicole replied.
"If you decide to keep the baby, come and get checked out. The child is innocent and if it is in your power, I hope you will think about it and give it a chance," Kash advised.
Nicole felt a thrill of excitement at the doctor's serious words.
“I understand. Thank you, Dr. Torres,” he replied.
As she ended the call, Nicole glanced at the medication on the table and paused briefly before carefully putting it away in a drawer.
The next day, as Nicole was about to leave, she met a woman at her front door. The woman, brimming with confidence, asked her, “Are you Nicole?” She was a middle-aged woman.
“Yes, who are you?” Nicole asked with a frown.
"Me?" Hallie scoffed. “I’m Jarrod’s cousin, Doreen’s mother.”
Nicole quickly sensed that Hallie didn't come with good news. It was clear that she had come with cruel intentions.
Hallie had previously investigated Nicole's address, but upon learning that Nicole and Jarrod lived together, she didn't dare come over to cause trouble.
It was clear that Jarrod was defending Nicole. He used to think their marriage was a facade, but it seemed like they were really together.
Hallie knew she had to suppress her anger for now. But as soon as she heard that Nicole had moved away, she spent no time looking for her. Apparently, Jarrod and Nicole had had a disagreement and Hallie saw this as her chance for revenge.
“What do you want?” Nicole asked bluntly, not particularly friendly to Hallie. She wasn't one to get close to people, especially when it was clear Hallie was here to stir up trouble.
“You have caused my daughter distress. What do you expect me to do?” Hallie said, her eyes ablaze with fury.
In Hallie's mind, Doreen's promising future had been ruined by Nicole's assault case. Doreen had been detained for 30 days, and her psychological state was deeply affected by her release.
Doreen's cellmates had threatened her. Doreen, who had lived a life of privilege, hoped to command respect even behind bars.
His superior attitude did not sit well with the other inmates. In fact, two of them ganged up on her and pulled out a good lock of her hair.
Outside she was protected by bodyguards, but in prison no one tolerated her arrogance. It was clear that not everyone in prison was a model citizen.
Despite this, Jarrod had decided to send Doreen abroad, denying her the chance to return home.
