Chapter 1588:

Callie, struggling with her grandmother's justifications, exclaimed, "Did he hurt others just for my own benefit? Wesson has a family too. Does he deserve to die?"
Callie had inherited Brett's integrity and kindness, but she held herself to even higher moral standards.
Distraught, Callie declared: “If my father made that decision for me, I would rather not live. Using another person’s life for my own survival is the equivalent of murder.”
There was a loud “Bang!” After another thud, Laurie hit Callie with her cane.
For a long time, Callie had held a special place in her family's affection. She had never experienced a physical reprimand, not even the slightest touch on the fingertips. This was due to her father's affection for her and her grandparents' sympathy for the lack of a mother figure in her formative years, which translated into their indulgence towards her.
Between her son and her granddaughter, Laurie decided decisively in favor of her son, without hesitation in her decision. Her son was of her own blood.
Laurie was determined to stop Callie from acting recklessly and betraying her son. With an unexpected thud, Callie fell to the ground. Her phone fell out of her hands and was confiscated by Laurie.
Addressing her granddaughter sternly, Laurie declared, “Callie, I can please you in many ways, but you must never betray your father. Otherwise, I will not be able to call you my granddaughter.”
With those words, Laurie left, closing the door behind her.
Callie stared at the heavily secured entrance, tears rolling down her cheeks one by one. She couldn't understand the sudden change in her beloved grandmother, who had always been so affectionate towards her.
Meanwhile, Nicole returned home and fell into a peaceful sleep. The situation required a long time to resolve, and there was no immediate solution in sight. However, Brett was now on his toes, and it was only a matter of time before he was stopped.
The only disconcerting aspect for Nicole was her persistent drowsiness. She fell asleep until 10 a.m. and woke up feeling dizzy and nauseous. She nearly tripped when she managed to grab the edge of the table for support.
After a brief respite, Nicole cautiously poured herself a glass of honey water to try to calm her nausea.
Just then, the phone range. It was Raegan.
“Hey Nicole, I tried to reach you earlier but you weren't available,” Raegan said.
"I was asleep. I just woke up," Nicole clarified.
“Fantastic! You managed to sleep until ten in the morning,” Raegan said, sounding pleased.
Knowing Nicole's insomnia issues, Raegan wasn't surprised that she had fallen asleep. However, this extended rest was unusual.
Nicole felt like she had slept soundly, but her body was still tired. “I don't know why. But I was asleep.”
Raegan smiled. “Well, that's a positive sign. Your body is getting better.”
“What do you have in mind?” Nicole inquired.
“Remember the situation with Roscoe? I relayed it to Mitchel, and he found merit in Roscoe's project plan, which prompted his investment. I felt the need to let you know, to alleviate any concerns,” Raegan wrote.
This development was promising. With the Dixon Group's investment, it not only promised financial support, but also safeguarded the Watts Group's reputation.
