Chapter 1564:

? ? ? ? ?

At this point, with Roscoe's wife Doreen proposing a divorce, it was clear to the public that the entire Schultz family was against Roscoe.

The Ardlens found themselves unable to choose which side to take.

Jarrod was Doreen's uncle. Evidently, his sudden mention of Roscoe was not out of admiration. The man knew instantly what Jarrod implied. "He's nothing but a wretch, does he really deserve it?" I snapped,

Pretending to suddenly notice that Jarrod was still there, the man quickly cracked a smile. “I meant that compared to you, Roscoe is nothing. He couldn’t even overshadow you.”

Jarrod seemed to like what he heard, and his expression brightened. In a show of false modesty, he said, “We shouldn't say that. “I’m sure he has his own skills.”

“Lies!” the man cried. “He may have defeated his grandfather, but for what? An empty company. I heard he even mortgaged his only remaining mansion. If he can't even stay afloat, how will he be able to revive the Watts Group? It’s a pipe dream for him.”

Nicole didn't expect the Watts family to undergo such a big change in just ten days.

Miguel was dead, but hidden dangers still lurked. Plus, the public didn't have a favorable opinion of the Watts family. But this was all Miguel's fault. Miguel was the truly malicious one in this whole situation.

He framed Roscoe, almost leaving him for dead. But instead of being criticized, Miguel was portrayed as a kindly old man while Roscoe was painted as an ingrate.

A dead man could do nothing. That meant that the troublemakers were either other members of the Watts family or people who had a strong dislike for Roscoe. One of those people was the man standing next to him.

Nicole couldn't be sure, though. There were other possibilities. Alec, for example, could have been behind it.

“I despise people like him. He betrays his family, even those who have done him good. “This is his revenge.” In an effort to flatter Jarrod, the man spoke again and made a show of seemingly righteous anger.

"I don't even understand why he's here at this banquet. Who the hell let him in?"

The accusations were increasing

excessive, and Nicole couldn't stand it any longer and finally spoke. "Excuse me. Sir, do you understand what you're saying? When have you ever seen Roscoe be ungrateful?"

The question seemed to catch the man off guard. He stood there dumbfounded for a few seconds. Had I misread the situation? Did Jarrod not feel any hostility towards Roscoe?

If that wasn't the case, why would Nicole say something like that? But that didn't sound right either. Doreen's divorce from Roscoe had made headlines and was a sensation. Jarrod couldn't choose to help someone who was practically a stranger instead of taking the side of a family member.

The man decided to play it safe. “I don't need to see it with my own eyes to know. What is clear is that Roscoe cannot be considered a true son of the Watts family. Everyone knows that Miguel brought him personally and treated him well, but Roscoe paid Miguel how? I have reported Miguel. If that's not disrespectful, I don't know what it is. Not to mention that Miguel lost his life because of this…”

Nicole disagreed. “If Miguel really cared about Roscoe, why would he bankrupt the company?” she replied. “The intricacies of this matter are not difficult to understand. It's just that everyone likes to hear

unfounded rumors and adding fuel to the fire."

The man didn't understand why Nicole was offended by him defending Doreen. It was a whole new mess. He scratched his head and said, "I apologize... I..."
