Love Unbreakable by Bank Brook -
Chapter 141
? ? ? ? ?
After hanging up the phone, Mitchel rushed to the hospital with Matteo. And the first thing Matteo did when they arrived was review the surveillance video.
In the video they saw that Raegan left her room at one-thirty in the morning, when the nurse was taking a nap.
Wearing a white dress, Raegan entered the elevator barefoot. But the surveillance camera showed that he did not leave the hospital.
The elevator stopped at the eighteenth floor.
Matteo suddenly said with a solemn expression: “Mr. Dixon, it's the top floor.
Mitchel's eyes narrowed at that. He left the control room without saying anything.
It was a cold and dark night. On the top floor, Raegan was sitting on a concrete dock.
Her seaweed hair hung from her shoulders and her white dress swayed in the wind, making her look even thinner. It seemed as fragile as glass that could break at any moment.
Seeing this scene, Mitchel turned pale. Panic immediately gripped his heart.
“Raegan…” he called out cautiously. It was as if she was afraid his voice would break her.
Raegan didn't move. He didn't seem to have heard anything. He raised his head and stared at the dark night sky.
“What are you looking at?” Mitchel asked quietly, staring at her and approaching her slowly.
Raegan didn't seem to notice what she was doing. But she replied: "My baby..."
Mitchel stopped dead. Then he saw Raegan raise her arm, point to the sky, and say, "My baby just came to say goodbye to me and went over there."
Suddenly, Mitchel felt as if a giant hammer fell from the sky and hit his heart hard.
The color drained from his face when he heard this. His hands shook unconsciously.
After a long time, he finally said with difficulty: “Can you go down first?”
Still, Raegan didn't move. He asked lightly, "Mitchel, can you let go of me?"
Mitchel's palms were sweating profusely. Now he was very nervous. He said in an indulgent tone, “Let's talk about it after you come down, okay?”
When Raegan looked into his face, she knew she was halfway to success.
In reality, he wanted to make her believe that he would commit suicide. Then, he would agree to the divorce.
Of course, she wouldn't risk her life. After all, he promised his grandmother that he would live a good life. He would never break his promise.
And the first step to living a good life was to leave Mitchel.
He must never let hate take control of his life.
Although Raegan told Mitchel that she would ask Kyler for help getting a divorce, she didn't want Kyler to know that her baby was gone.
Kyler loved her. He was the one who gave him warmth. She didn't have the heart to make him sad.
“Mitchel, let's break up in peace,” Raegan said, staring at Mitchel.
At that moment, I only had one thing on my mind. And loving him for ten years was one of the worst things she had ever done in her life.
He had wasted ten years of his life and he was very sorry.
The entire rooftop was dark under the moonless sky. Only Raegan's small face shone.
Mitchel remembered the first time he saw her. At that moment, he thought her eyes were very pretty. They were as bright as those of a newborn, without impurities.
Now, her beautiful eyes were still shining. However, they lacked emotion.
Why had this happened?
Why did he have to suffer like this?
Anguish, panic, regret, and all kinds of emotions instantly filled Mitchel's chest.
I could barely breathe. It was as if a giant rock was pressing on his heart.
Could he really let her go?
This time, he heard himself softly pleading, “Raegan, I assure you, Lauren will never bother us again. It is totally out of our lives. Please give me a chance. I will treat you well. I will do everything possible to get us back to how we were before…”
Before he could finish his words, Raegan interrupted: "Can you bring my baby back?"
Mitchel was speechless, not knowing what to say.
No matter how rich and powerful he was, he was not omnipotent. There were things I couldn't do.
He couldn't give them their baby back, any more than they could go back to the past.
Suddenly, Raegan burst into tears. Every time she remembered her baby, her heart broke.
She hoped she hadn't lied to Mitchel when she told him that her baby had visited her in her dreams and that she had gone to a wonderful paradise.
But, unfortunately, it was not true. Her baby never visited her in her dreams.
She missed her baby a lot.
When Raegan's grandmother died, the baby in her womb was her only comfort.
Why was she deprived of her only comfort? Why had they taken it away?
In that moment, Raegan wanted to spill all her emotions.
Her body trembled as she cried hysterically.
«Mitchel, I begged you at that moment…»
When she was kidnapped and called Mitchell in desperation, she didn't expect him to come to her rescue right away. But he hoped he wouldn't hang up on him and at least check his location.
However, he hung up the phone without believing a single word she said.
When those hooligans hit her, she did everything she could to protect her belly. Her baby had been with her for a long time. But in the end, her baby couldn't survive.
Mitchel's face turned pale as a sheet and his heart hurt like it was being crushed.
That call was the most unfortunate moment of his life.
«Raegan, I'm sorry. "I'm very sorry."
He knew she wouldn't accept his apology. But I didn't know what else to say except I'm sorry. He felt so helpless at that moment.
For the first time, he knew what it meant to be helpless. If he could, he would sacrifice his life to endure the pain for her.
Her heart also broke when her baby disappeared.
Every time she thought about her baby, she felt as if countless thorns were stabbing her heart.
But he knew that his pain was much less than a tenth of Raegan's.
After all, she suffered too much.
Raegan's long eyelashes blinked slightly and pearl-like tears fell one after another down her pale face.
«Mitchel, now I beg you again. Please let me go. Don't make me hate you more.
The word "beg" was like a knife, cutting every inch of Mitchel's body. The pain seemed unbearable.
I couldn't stand it anymore. He stumbled back, the fresh smell of blood in his throat.
It had only been a few minutes, but it seemed like they had been there for a long time.
He felt the cold wind blow into his face. He looked at her and said hoarsely, “Okay.” Mitchel couldn't stand seeing Raegan so dejected anymore, so he finally agreed.
The next day, Mitchel returned to the hospital in the afternoon.
He helped Raegan complete the discharge paperwork and then they headed to the courthouse.
On the way, a dead silence reigned in the car. It was as if silence was the last harmony between them.
Normally, it should only be forty minutes of travel. But Mitchel drove so slowly that it took an hour and a half.
Raegan didn't make any fuss about it. He thought they had enough time. So he sat quietly in the passenger seat.
Finally, they reached their destination. Raegan got out of the car without waiting for Mitchel to open the door for her.
When they entered, the staff apologized: "I'm sorry. We have problems with the system. It won't be fixed soon.
Is it okay if I come back tomorrow?
Mitchel's hope was rekindled upon hearing these words.
But the next second, it shattered.
Raegan said firmly, “It's okay. "We will wait."
She didn't want to wait all night. To her, a long delay meant trouble. So I was willing to wait until they fixed the problem.
Bitterness arose in Mitchel's heart. But he could only purse his lips.
It was almost the staff's departure time, but the system problem had not yet been resolved.
All the people in line behind Mitchel and Raegan had left.
Only the two of them remained in line.
Seeing this, Mitchel lowered his head and muttered, “How about we go home? Let's come back here tomorrow.
Raegan raised her head and looked at the clock on the wall.
"There are still ten minutes left."
Mitchel's face paled.
Why was she so eager to divorce him? Did she hate him so much that she didn't want to have anything to do with him for even a second?
A trace of disappointment flashed in his eyes.
«You can wait here, then. "I have to go back to take care of some business."
"No. We will both wait here.
Raegan wasn't stupid. How could she get divorced alone?
«There is an important contract waiting for me to sign it. Can you compensate me for my loss? Mitchel said, frowning.
“You…” Raegan glared at Mitchel. I knew he had done it on purpose.
Dixon Group contracts were worth hundreds of millions. Of course, she couldn't afford to make it up to him.
When Mitchel saw Raegan's reaction, he felt much better. He said in a clear voice, “If you can’t afford it, I will leave now.”
Who wouldn't know that he was evading?
Mitchel clearly knew that Raegan would disappear from his life as soon as he got the divorce certificate.
If she hadn't threatened to kill him, he would never let her go.
At this moment, the staff suddenly shouted: “The system problem has been solved. No. 24, are you still here?
