Chapter 1277:
? ? ? ? ?
It turned out that Jarrod had squeezed the watch in his hand, the face against his fingers, and had brought it down hard on Derek's nose.
In one fell swoop, blood poured from Derek's nose, and his nasal bridge became horribly contorted.
Impressively, the expensive watch was still in perfect condition.
“Ow! You're crazy! You’ve lost your mind…” Derek grabbed his nose, groaning in shock at the merciless blow that had broken his nasal bone.
"Hit!" Another savage blow. Derek felt as if his cheekbone had been shattered as well. Jarrod's cruelty was too much.
Now terrified, Derek trembled and begged through his bloody face, “You want money? I can give you lots of money… But don't hit me… Please…”
Jarrod scoffed. “Money? I don't care about money. “I care about you.”
"AND?"
"Whatever you want, I'll give it to you," Derek interrupted, knowing that it was wise to bow to adversity, begging for mercy.
He could enjoy life again when he regained his wealth. But right now, preserving his life was what mattered most to him.
Jarrod's lips twisted into a slight smile, his tone chillingly soft.
"I'm only interested in your life."
Derek was speechless, almost paralyzed with fear. Jarrod had declared himself after his life, proving to be extremely brutal.
“Sir, please, I haven't caused any harm, and I barely touched that woman. I didn't even take anything from her. I just hit her a couple of times. “You can’t kill me for that.”
“You only hit her a couple of times?” Jarrod's eyes turned icy. “She wasn't yours to touch!”
Derek's heart raced in terror, and he was too scared to make a sound. He knelt down, frankly pleading, “Big man, big brother… Please have some mercy and let me go. From now on I will be discreet and not cause trouble again. Just let me live…” His head hit the muddy ground, his face mixing with blood and mud in a pitiful sight.
Jarrod's face remained stoic, completely unmoved by Derek's pleas. If he had arrived a moment later tonight, Nicole might have been lost forever.
This mere thought caused a wave of panic to wash over Jarrod. Even his normally steady heart trembled in fear. It was this overwhelming anxiety for Nicole that triggered his bitter sarcasm, mocking her for overestimating her strength while masking her inner turmoil.
Jarrod found his concern for Nicole peculiar. During their court battles, when Nicole presented all the evidence against him, he had resolved to disassociate himself from his affairs. In similar circumstances, anyone else would have succumbed countless times.
But now, with Nicole facing imminent danger, he could not suppress his panic and fear. At one point, he feared that if Nicole died, his own life would lose all meaning. This thought shocked him.
Deep down in his heart, though, Jarrod knew his feelings were sincere. He hated his own tendency toward indulgence whenever Nicole came into the picture.
Despite his reputation for being tough, he had given her repeated opportunities, which she did not appreciate at all.
Inside Jarrod, emotions swirled chaotically, pushing him once again towards destruction. His mental state seemed to deteriorate.
Hallucinations took hold of him, transforming Derek's kneeling figure into a monstrous visage. A primal beast materialized before Jarrod, snarling and slashing through the air, seemingly eager to devour him.
“Ah!” Jarrod grabbed his head, roaring in pain and confusion.
Derek, startled by the sudden roar, realized that something was wrong with Jarrod. It seemed as if Jarrod was on the verge of demonic possession.
