Chapter 1266:

? ? ? ? ?

With a serene smile, Vicki turned to him thoughtfully: “It is essential to try on your wedding attire well in advance. If you are tied up, I can take care of it myself.”

Jarrod's gaze narrowed slightly as he studied Vicki's expression intently. She spoke kindly, her face remaining radiant, seemingly void of any hint of grief.

Nodding, Jarrod replied, “I’m buried in work. “Fix it when it suits you.”

"Okay, take care of yourself then."

As Jarrod turned to leave, Vicki watched him silently, her face soft and her smile tender, like the picture of a devoted fiancée.

Only when he disappeared from sight did the warmth of Vicki's smile gradually fade.

"Crash!" In a sudden outburst, he swept the plates off the table, sending them crashing to the floor.

Aware that Jarrod had left her for Nicole again, Vicki was furious, but forced herself to suppress her emotions.

Vicki refrained from making a scene, aware that she was still being evaluated. Despite the court's decision, Jarrod had not yet trusted her with Austin's care. He did not have enough faith in her to trust her with his son.

Jarrod loved Austin very much. And Nicole did too. Vicki's smile returned to her face as she realized she had identified her Achilles heel.

Instead of succumbing to everyday anxieties, fearing that she might not be able to marry Jarrod for fear of another twist of fate, she resolved to take advantage of her Achilles' heel by no longer living in fear.

Vicki called the servants to clean up the mess. Before retiring for the night, she instructed the butler to get the freshest and finest ingredients for a soup she planned to make for Jarrod tomorrow.

Even if Jarrod didn't touch a drop, all that mattered was that he acknowledged his thoughtfulness.

Jarrod left while Alec waited in the car.

Seeing Jarrod, Alec quickly put his phone away and walked out to open the door for him.

Jarrod glanced at Alec's phone, now muted and propped up on the seat, and said bluntly, "You're driving."

Alec immediately got behind the wheel.

This type of instruction usually stemmed from an important matter that Jarrod needed to attend to without revealing the details to the driver.

As they walked away, just as Alec was about to ask about their destination, Jarrod interrupted Alec with a stern look.

“Give me your phone,” Jarrod ordered.

Jarrod's demand left Alec perplexed and uneasy. Why the sudden need for his phone?

But with Jarrod's unyielding gaze fixed on him, Alec didn't dare hesitate. I have unlocked the phone and handed it over.

Jarrod found an encrypted number and asked, “Who’s speaking?”

Alec hesitated, “I… It’s…”
