Love In Between
Chapter 29

**If there was one thing I hadn’t imagined with Gael, it was what was happening that night. I guess I just wasn’t prepared for such a surprise.

“Breathe Serena, breathe…” I walk into the building and I can hear my heels clicking as I pace my steps on this white marble floor. I ignore the doorman as Gael has instructed me in his message, and call one of the two elevators. I wait patiently and remove my black trench coat and the dress I’m wearing. I can feel the change in temperature on my body; especially on my back, which is practically uncovered because of the transparency of the garment I’m wearing.

The metal-coloured elevator doors open and I press the button to the floor where Gael lives. The elevator mirror reflects a woman in a low-cut dress, red lips, subtle makeup, and loose hair in waves. What that image doesn’t reflect is the way my heart beats. I bring my hand to the left side of my chest and try to get my heart back into its normal rhythm, but it’s practically impossible…

As I get out of the elevator I go to his door and put the key in the lock. My hands are shaking, but noticing that I have managed to unlock the door I take one last breath of air. My hand pushes the door open and as I enter his flat I can’t believe my eyes.

The whole floor is basically full of rose petals and on the little table in the middle of the room, there is a black box with a little note on it that says “open it for me.” This is unbelievable… no one has ever done anything like this for me before. Slowly, I walk over to the table and then open the box. It’s filled with red and white roses with the words “I love you” on them, and when I see what it says on the lid tears threaten to come to my eyes. “Will you be my girlfriend?” That’s what he’s written on the cover and I didn’t think he could get that special.

-So what do you say, do you accept,” I hear him say and I look up to find him coming out of the hallway dressed all in black with two glasses of champagne in his hand. He looks incredibly handsome.

He walks towards me and stops two steps away from my body. He watches me carefully from head to toe, and I get the feeling that he’s studied me completely, “You look stunningly beautiful tonight,” he says with a half smile, and then his fingers brush away the tears that have fallen from my eyes. I can only reply with the same gesture as I step forward and close the distance between us.

I watch him closely and love everything I see. I want so badly to k**s those perfect lips. I want to get lost in his neck and intoxicate myself with his exquisite perfume.

-You look very handsome tonight too,” I comment, consciously not answering the question he’s left me written on the box.

He smiles broadly and hands me one of the champagne glasses. -As far as I can see, you won’t answer the question I’ve written down for you… but don’t worry, beautiful, I can ask it again,” he says in that sensual voice of his, and with one of his arms around my waist, making me tremble from head to toe. He has realised all the love he feels for you and he wants to live it together with you. Would you give him the joy of being his bride,” he asks me firmly and with his arm he pulls me tighter against him.

How can he be so perfect? I don’t even know if I can think coherently about what he has told me? I’m lost in the way his lips move and the way the words sound as they come out of his mouth.

I nod smiling and then bite my lips, “I agree to be your girlfriend,” he finally declares and that’s all it took for his lips to close all the distance that existed between the two of us.

His lips on mine are pure fire. They melt on my lips and I feel like a chunk of ice in the blazing summer sunshine. I wrap one of my arms around his neck, taking the greatest care not to spill the champagne, and I can feel his body clinging closer to mine. -You’ll never regret this,” he says against my lips. -I missed you so much,” he continues, and he rests his forehead on the mirror to look me in the eye.

-I know I won’t regret it,” I reply. -I’ve missed you too. I couldn’t wait to have you in front of me like this,” I confess.

-I haven’t either Serena, I’ve realised how much I’ve fallen in love with you to the bone,” he confesses and then brings his glass closer, “Let’s toast, because there are so many k****s I want to give you, that I feel that when I start I won’t be able to stop,” he warns and without further ado we clink our glasses together to take a sip of champagne and then leave them on the table.

-I see that there is something for dinner…” I comment when I see the table ready.

-Yes, will you join me, my bride,” he asks mischievously, but I just wrap my arms around his neck and hold him close to my body.

-It’s not that I don’t appreciate the details you’ve prepared for us tonight, but I’d honestly prefer to start with dessert,” I suggest, and before he can respond, my lips are already kissing his neck.

-My God, Serena… I’ve missed you so much,” he says, his breath hitching.

-And you’ve missed me…” I let him know as I feel the way his hands start to run down my back. -I’ve painted my lips the colour you liked so much,” I comment mischievously, and he looks at me expectantly.

I’m dying here for him… Every touch of his fingers is like a hot iron branding my body, but it doesn’t hurt… on the contrary, I love the sensation. I love the tickle he leaves on my skin as he touches me.

-I’ve imagined a lot of things with you, and tonight we’re going to make them come true because you’re my girlfriend now,” he explains as we walk together to his room.

-I’ve also imagined many things with you… tonight I’ll k**s you all over,” I warn.

-I love you,” he says before kissing me again.

-I love you Gael…” That’s all I manage to say before my back feels the mattress of his bed.

Tonight promises…

**I had officially become Gael Enriquez’s girlfriend… many women would be jumping all over the place with such luck, but I could only dedicate myself to quench this thirst that having him close to me was causing me. I’ll k**s him so much that he won’t even be able to remember his name.
