Love Comes To Me
Chapter 1496: Something's wrong with the perfume.

"How does your body feel?"

Blythe asked, her eyes fixed on Paulina.

For some reason, Paulina's heart tingled with the sensation of a sheep in the sights of a wolf.

She was the sheep, Blythe was the wolf.

But she managed to keep her smile and replied, "That's fine."

"Pretty good?" Blythe frowned, "Aren't you uncomfortable somewhere or something?"

She asked and Paulina was surprised, "I'm not uncomfortable anywhere, I'm fine."

"Is that so?"

Blythe's expression looked a little disappointed.

Paulina frowned and asked tentatively, "Does Sister Blythe think I must be uncomfortable somewhere?"

"Huh?" Blythe froze, then replied and laughed, "No. I was just worried about you, so I asked more questions. Since you're okay, that's really great." Again, there was a big smile on her face.

Paulina didn't know what to say for a moment.

Silence slowly stretched between the two of them.

It was a little awkward.

Paulina coughed slightly and spoke, "Mr. Blythe, I get your thoughts. You must be very busy, don't hold her for me."

For her?

Blythe laughed inwardly, so good at punching her in the face.

But she kept her smile and said, "Not at all. It won't be a delay at all."

Paulina was on the verge of tears, why didn't she understand her polite "dismissal"?

At that moment, Marcos pushed open the door and walked in.

He froze at the sight of Blythe there, but quickly reacted by approaching Paulina and looking at Blythe suspiciously, "What are you doing here?"

His questioning tone made the smile on Blythe's face freeze instantly, "Mr. Marcos, are you making me uncomfortable?".

Marcos' thin lips were pursed, seemingly giving no face of assent.

Sensing that the mood was a bit subdued, Paulina quickly interjected, "No, it's not."

The Leoz Group and JR were partners now, and it was not a good idea to make things difficult.

Paulina gave Marcos a wink and asked him to say something.

Then Marcos said in a soft voice, "Mr. Blythe has a heart. However, the doctor said that Paulina needs to recover, so Sr. Blythe doesn't have to come back."

It was ostensibly a thank you, but it was really a way of telling her to stay away from Paulina in the future.

But Blythe didn't seem to hear her and smiled, "Don't be so polite, it's only fair that I come to see Paulina. Now that we have decided to work together, it would be good for our cooperation to have more visits in the future. Y ..." She turned her head to Paulina and the smile on her face grew even bigger, "I think Paulina and I will become good friends, don't you think so, Paulina?"

Paulina's hands were clasped between hers and she only managed to lift the corners of her mouth, "I should, I guess."

Blythe lingered a little longer before getting up to leave.

Once she was gone, Paulina let out a long sigh of relief, "Finally."

"How did you find out about my hospitalization?" she turned her head to look at Marcos.

Marcos shook his head, also a little confused.

Paulina frowned, "I think only my family knew about my illness and my hospitalization, so how did she know?" What a surprise!

From the first moment she had seen Blythe, her instincts had told her to stay away from that woman.

Not that Blythe wasn't a nice person, but she was very strange.

She clearly looked familiar, but the face was unfamiliar and really made it impossible to like her. "What's wrong?"

Mark asked, speaking as he saw her staring at her.

Paulina shook her head, "Nothing. I just don't think Blythe is simple."

"Being in charge of the JR Group branch in the Euro-Pacific banking area certainly isn't simple." Mark helped her lift the pillow behind her and continued, "Well, don't overthink it. The most important thing for you to do now is to rest." Paulina laughed, "I know, Marcos, have you noticed that whenever I'm sick, you keep talking about me?".

Marcos raised an eyebrow, "Do I disgust you?".

"No, I'm not." Paulina immediately denied it, "I just feel happy."

She finished with a Sweety smile, her eyebrows arched in a cute grin.

Mark felt his heart soften instantly as he reached out and gently pinched her nose and asked, "What do you want to eat? I'll go get it for you."

"Well..." Paulina thought seriously, "I want to eat ravioli."

"Okay, I'll go get them."

After watching Marcos leave and closing the door behind him, Paulina slowly lay down on the bed, intending to rest for a while, but closing her eyes she fell asleep in a jiffy. Mark soon returned with the ravioli, but found her asleep.

He put the ravioli on the bedside table, tucked her in and turned to leave.

The moment he stepped outside, he saw Alvaro approaching him.

"Brother, there are results."

For the past two days, Alvaro had been investigating the people Paulina had been in contact with during this time, even the cleaning lady.

Marcos made a shocked face and said in a deep voice: "Speak!".

Alvaro took a deep breath before speaking, "Everyone who has been in contact with my sister-in-law has been checked and there is nothing suspicious."

"Am I being paranoid?" If it wasn't someone close who had drugged Paulina, then who could it be?

"However, there is one person I haven't checked." said Alvaro.

"Who?"

"Blythe."

Hearing the name, Marcos' eyes flickered, how could he have forgotten that Blythe had also been in contact with Paulina?

Suddenly, something dawned on him and his pupils squeezed sharply, "Perfume."

Alvaro didn't understand, "Brother, what perfume?"

"Blythe gave Paulina a bottle of perfume."

Marcos thought back to the day Paulina had been sprayed with the perfume, the smell wouldn't go away, making Paulina sneeze all the time.

Although the smell went away the next day, after two days Paulina began to feel especially tired and became sleepy easily, followed by a cold and fever after being caught in the rain. Even if Paulina had a virus in her system, her health could not be that bad.

Similarly, Alvaro remembered that day and blurted out, "Something's up with the perfume."

While Paulina slept, Marcos returned home, found the bottle of perfume and gave it to Alvaro.

"Send it to the Institute for me and ask Almeida and the others to analyze it to see if it has the same drug that was in Paulina's blood and report back to me as soon as they have the results." "Okay."

Alvaro headed back to the Institute with the perfume, while Marcos returned to the hospital.

The moment Paulina woke up, Marcos quickly intervened as he saw her reaching for the portion of ravioli on the bedside table.

"Don't eat it, it's been out too long and it's already cold."

Paulina looked up at the sound of his voice, "But I want to eat the ravioli ...".

Marcos shook the ravioli in his hand and said softly, "Take this one, I just bought it back."

Paulina glanced at it and beamed, "Yes!".

Mark walked over to the bed and sat down, opened the box and handed her the spoon.

Paulina was really hungry and ate the plate of ravioli in two or three bites without even leaving the soup.
