Love Comes To Me
Chapter 1401: This Life is Yours

On the day of the engagement, the banquet hall on the third floor of Kyoto's largest hotel, the Hyatt, was beautifully decorated with white roses and sparkling crystal lights, looking extraordinarily romantic and dreamy. Edwina, who was upstairs in the lounge at the time, was so nervous that her heart was jumping out of her throat.

"You're sweating." Paulina took a tissue and wiped the sweat from her forehead. "Don't get nervous or your makeup will smear."

Edwina smiled reluctantly and asked, "Mrs. Paulina, would you say that all women are nervous about getting married?"

"Of course I'm nervous." Paulina couldn't help but smile at the question, "Definitely, a woman is nervous about a once-in-a-lifetime event. But just the thought of being with the person you love for the rest of your life is more like happiness." "But we're only engaged and I'm this nervous, then I'd faint if we got married." Edwina joked.

"You think too much." Paulina helped her straighten her headdress, looked at her and smiled, "You look very pretty today, be confident and don't be nervous."

Edwina took a deep breath and nodded, "Okay."

Around seven o'clock that evening, the guests arrived.

Baggott and Dulce stood at the door to greet the guests, both with smiles of joy on their faces.

But when they saw the Boone Family, their smiles froze.

"What, we're not welcome?" Elva's mother asked grimly.

Baggott and Dulce immediately regained their smiles as soon as they heard them, "Welcome, of course."

Elva's mother looked into the ballroom and saw how grand the decorations were, her eyes were full of resignation and her mouth was even more implacable, "Hey, big deal, they seem to really like their daughter-in-law now." Dulce smiled awkwardly, "Edgar likes her, of course we do too."

Hearing this, Elva's mother's face instantly turned cold, "You mean you don't like Elva?".

"Of course not, I like Elva a lot, it's just that..."

Dulce was tempted to explain, when Baggott grabbed her hand and motioned for her to stop.

"Dulce and I are very glad you're here, come in and sit down." said Baggott.

Although she was upset that The Khan family had wronged her daughter by canceling the union in the first place without saying anything, they were always business partners and Elva's mother didn't dare make too much of a scene. When Elva's parents walked in, Dulce let out a long sigh of relief, "I thought they wouldn't come."

"Come on, don't think too much." reassured Baggott.

Dulce nodded, "Yes."

On a day like this, she certainly wasn't going to let the arrival of Elva's parents dampen her mood.

Once the guests were seated, the engagement party began.

As soon as the ballroom doors opened and the music started, Edwina, dressed in white, grabbed Edgar's arm and they headed down the aisle.

Edwina was so nervous that she squeezed Edgar's hand tightly.

"Don't be nervous, I'm here."

Edgar's low, soft voice rang in her ears, Edwina turned her head and met his gaze.

Edgar lifted the corner of his lips, "I'm by your side, don't be nervous."

His soft voice seemed to have some magical effect, calming her heart.

The guests couldn't help but sigh at how well they empathized as they watched them gaze deeply into each other's eyes.

In contrast, Elva's parents, who were sitting in a corner, looked somber.

As soon as they heard that Edgar and Edwina were getting engaged, their daughter had locked herself in her room and hadn't eaten much for the past few days. It was really annoying.

Paulina watched as Edgar and Edwina slowly made their way down the other end of the hallway and couldn't help but feel a little moisture at the corners of her eyes.

It hadn't been an easy trip for her and Marcos, so she especially wished the relations around them were smooth.

"What's wrong?" asked Marcos with concern, noticing the redness in her eyes.

Paulina shook her head, "Nothing, I'm just a little touched."

Marcos took her hand between his and intertwined their fingers, a fond smile tugging at the corners of his mouth.

After all these years, he was still as sentimental as ever.

The engagement proceeded in an orderly fashion, and at one point, Edgar grabbed a bouquet of roses, got down on one knee and looked at Edwina with deep emotion. "Edwina, I love you, marry me, will you?".

Edwina smiled and tears welled up in her eyes.

The guests in the back shouted in unison, "Marry him! Marry him ..!"

Edwina raised her hand to wipe away her tears and then nodded vigorously, "Yes."

Edgar gleefully pulled a flannel box from the bouquet and opened it, inside was a diamond ring.

He took it out, threw the box away, took her hand and put the ring on his middle finger.

Then he took her hand in his and stood up smiling, "Don't cry, don't worry, my Edgar will be yours for the rest of your life."

At these words, the guests laughed.

"What are you talking about?" Edwina punched him in the chest sheepishly.

Edgar took hold of her, drew her into his arms, lowered his head and kissed her on the red lips.

The entire ballroom erupted in applause and cheers.

Paulina leaned on Marcos' shoulder, smiling at the sight of the two kissing on stage.

Once the engagement was over, Edgar led Edwina over to Paulina.

"Paulina, thank you."

Paulina was a little confused by the sudden "thank you", "Why?".

Edgar looked at Edwina and smiled, "If it wasn't for you, I wouldn't have met Edwina and we wouldn't be together."

So that was it.

Paulina lost her smile, "It's your destiny, it has nothing to do with me."

"Mrs. Paulina, are you going back to J-town tomorrow?" asked Edwina.

"Well, what's up?"

"It's been a long time since we've seen each other and I wanted to have coffee with you and talk."

I had few friends anymore, and even fewer as good as the ones I had with Mrs. Paulina.

Paulina smiled apologetically, "I'm sorry, this weather doesn't permit it. I will certainly come to see you all in the capital when I have the opportunity later."

Edgar looked at Marcos with a slight frown, "Need some help?"

Earlene's death a while back had caused quite a stir and had had an effect on the Leoz Group, and he guessed that Paulina's comment about not being allowed was because of that. "No." Marcos declined her kind offer, "I'll get back to you if I need to."

Edgar nodded, "Good. the Khan family is Paulina's mother's house, if there is anything you need help with, just ask."

"Thank you, cousin." Paulina felt moved in her heart.

Edgar looked at her with distaste, "We are family, why are you so polite?".

Paulina laughed, "Yes, it's family."

He looked at Edwina, "You'll be family too."

Edwina held Edgar's hand tightly and nodded, "Mmm."

After the engagement party, Marcos took his family back to the hotel to rest and returned to J-Town first thing the next morning.
