Love Comes To Me
Chapter 1377: Breaking His Mind

Perhaps thanks to his innate ability, the work went much more smoothly than Marcos himself had imagined. While at the Leoz Group, he was Marcos himself.

"President, the project is now in trouble and, if it goes on like this, I could lose money." The head of the project department bowed his head, hands clenched into fists at his side. The project he was referring to was the same project book Mark was looking at.

Mark looked at it carefully, looked up at the project manager and said in a deep voice, "Stop this project immediately."

The head of the project department raised his head and looked at him in surprise, "Chairman, if this project is stopped, won't all our preliminary preparations be in vain?"

"It is only a temporary stoppage."

Marcos closed the file and calmly and serenely laid out the adjustment plan, then said, "Turn around and mobilize the funds to cover the gap, then restart it when everything is in order." "Yes." The project manager responded with respect, admiring Mark in his heart.

Not only had he decisively stopped the project, but he had also thought of a follow-up plan.

It had taken less than twenty minutes.

When Alvaro arrived home in the evening, his parents brought him into the living room.

"Alvaro, how was your brother's day, is he uncomfortable?" Mrs. Gloria sounded a little anxious.

God knows how worried she was at home today, fearing that Marcos was in trouble because he wasn't used to it.

"Dad, Mom, you guys are underestimating my brother too, what kind of man is he? Work has been engraved in his bones for a long time. So how is that little thing going to be hard for him." Alvaro could not hide his admiration.

Mrs. Gloria sighed in relief, "I'm not underestimating Marcos, I'm just worried that he's not used to it."

"Don't worry, once the brother is back, who isn't going to be convinced." Alvaro put his arm around her shoulders and reassured her.

Mrs. Gloria nodded, "That's good."

...

The days passed quietly for a few days.

Marcos had resumed work and was busy with business, leaving early and returning late almost every day.

Tonight he worked until almost midnight and Paulina was half lying down, waiting for his return.

"Are you tired from working so late again?"

Paulina felt sorry for him, fearing his body couldn't take it.

"No, I'll be fine after this." Marcos reassured her gently.

"If you're really too busy, let Alvaro help you." Paulina feared she was working too much on her own.

The company had been run by Alvaro even in his absence before, and he would surely be helpful.

"Mmm."

Marcos took her in his arms, "I'm sorry I haven't been able to spend time with you this time."

Paulina tilted her head and looked into his eyes that were written with guilt, the corners of her mouth curved up, "You don't have to feel guilty, you'll be with me when you're free." Marcos was silent for a few seconds, "Were you this understanding before?"

"Hmm?" Paulina didn't understand what he meant.

"I used to be busy too, didn't I, and you didn't have a single complaint?"

Paulina asked instead of answering, "Should I have complained?"

"I don't know." Marcos shook his head.

Paulina took a step back, abandoned her embrace, tilted her head to one side and looked deeply at him, "Marcos, I'm not going to complain that you're busy, or that you don't have time for me. Because not only do I need you, but also the whole Leoz family and even the whole company."

At this, Marcos laughed helplessly: "Am I really that important?".

"Well, very important." Paulina nodded vigorously.

"You're important to me too."

Marcos wrapped her in his arms.

...

That day, Paulina ushered Marcos out the door as usual, watched his car drive away and turned around to go inside.

The phone suddenly rang.

She had to stop and take it out of her pocket.

It was an unknown number.

He hesitated before picking it up.

"Hello."

There was no sound on the other end of the phone, so Paulina picked it up and looked at it, thinking it wasn't connected.

She frowned a little.

It said it was on hold.

She put the phone to her ear again, "Hello, who's this?"

This time there was an answer.

"This is Earlene's grandmother."

Paulina seemed relaxed, but as soon as she heard it was Grandma Bartram, her expression flinched and a layer of defensiveness lifted. "Can I help you?" Her tone was a little cold.

"Do you have a moment? Let's go have a meeting."

A meeting?

It's about Earlene, isn't it?

A cold smile tugged at the corners of Paulina's mouth, "Sorry, I don't have time."

Not only did she not have time, but she had nothing to discuss with the Bartram family.

"Are you not willing to meet, or do you really not have time?" Grandma Bartram asked. "Does it make any difference? If you have nothing else, old lady, I'll hang up."

With that, Paulina was about to hang up.

"Wait a minute."

Grandma Bartram's anxious voice came over the receiver.

"Is there anything else?" asked Paulina.

"It's absolutely true that Earlene saved Marcos, isn't it?"

The corners of Paulina's mouth puckered and she made no sound.

Only to hear Grandma Bartram snort, "You can't deny it, can you, you want Marcos to have a reputation for ungratefulness?"

"I wonder what you mean by that." Paulina's brow furrowed.

Grandma Bartram didn't answer her question and continued, "It wouldn't be good for this to get out, would it? And The Leoz family is a famous family, so it would be a disgrace for something like this to come out." Paulina's eyes were cold as she asked, "Are you threatening me?"

"How am I threatening you? I'm just telling you what's at stake."

It was a threat, and she denied it.

Paulina laughed sarcastically, "I bet you're afraid of the Bartram family losing face too, old lady."

There was silence on the other end of the phone.

She took a deep breath, "Ma'am, aside from Earlene bringing this on herself, you're responsible for it too. If it weren't for your coddling and connivance, it would never have ended up like this."

"I admit that I am also responsible. So if you drop the charges against her, I'll take Earlene away immediately and find her a heart-breaking marriage. I promise you she won't come back to bother and torment Marcos." To be honest, Grandma Bartram's promise encouraged Paulina.

With Earlene's temper, if she went to jail, she would hate her and Marcos, and when she got out there would be no end to it.

But if the old woman could cure her, it would be a mistake.

"Mrs. Paulina, I really hope you can think about it."

"Can you make me believe that, old woman?" asked Paulina.

"I've lived a long life and I always keep my word, I never go back on it."

Paulina thought for a moment, "Okay, I'll think about it."

The old woman on the other end of the phone could clearly be heard breathing a sigh of relief, "Then I'll wait for your good news."

After hanging up the phone, Paulina looked a little somber.

She had to ask Mark and the others what they thought about this.

She wanted to bring Earlene to justice more than anyone else, but she was also aware of Earlene's methods and really wanted to live in peace.
