Love Comes To Me -
Chapter 1369: She must not be allowed to go to jail
When Paulina heard the news, she dared not delay a moment to rush over.
She arrived just as the ambulance arrived.
"Mom!" Paulina rushed over, only to see her mother lying on the trundle bed, her eyes tightly closed, her face so pale and bloodless that, were it not for the slight rise and fall of her chest, one would really think she had lost her breath. "What is my mother's condition?" Paulina looked at Marcos.
"Fainted, we'll have to go to the hospital to find out exactly what happened."
Marcos walked over to her and put his arm around her shoulders, gently reassuring her, "Don't worry, mom will be fine."
As she watched her mother being put into the ambulance, Paulina hurried after her and sat down next to her, holding her hand tightly, "Mom, you must not be well ..."
Tears rolled down her face as a fog rose before her eyes, her heart filled with remorse.
If it hadn't been for her, her mother wouldn't have been kidnapped by that crazy Earlene, let alone fainted.
Her expression sank a little at the thought.
If Earlene wanted to attack her, she didn't care.
But to go so far as to target someone close to her, then she would never let it go.
...
Marcos turned to Eliazar and said, "Watch the scene and don't let anyone else in."
Eliazar bowed his head respectfully, "Yes."
Marcos got into his car and drove away.
Eliazar made a cordon around the house, the demolition crew saw him and hurried to ask, "What are you doing?" "Someone was locked in the basement and has just been rescued." replied Eliazar simply.
"Locked in the basement?" several of the demolition team workers made shocked faces.
Eliazar said "hmm" and said no more.
Some of the workers spoke instead.
"My goodness, if we had torn this house down yesterday, wouldn't that man have been buried alive?"
"Good thing we went to tear down another house yesterday, otherwise we would have been in trouble."
...
Several people looked distressed.
Eliazar listened and turned his head to look at them, "I see that most of the houses around here have been demolished, how come this one is still intact?" When he arrived at the demolition site, he noticed that although not all the houses had been demolished, almost all the windows and doors had been demolished. This was the only one still intact.
"We were going to demolish it, but the foreman mentioned that we had to leave this one alone, so we left it."
Eliazar senses something is wrong and asks, "Where's the foreman?"
"Right there."
The worker points to the mobile pension not far away.
"Thank you."
Eliazar says thank you and lifts his steps toward the mobile pension.
...
Agustina was taken to the resuscitation room and Paulina had to wait outside.
She paced back and forth in the doorway, hands clasped together uneasily, helpless to the core.
"Don't worry, child, I'm sure your family is fine." The old woman standing to the side saw this and couldn't help but speak in a comforting tone. Paulina nodded at her and said, "Thank you."
After about twenty minutes or so, the door to the resuscitation room opened and the doctor came out.
"Doctor, how is my mother?" Paulina hurried to greet her.
The doctor took off his mask and said, "Your mother fainted because she had low blood sugar, she has some bruises, but nothing else."
At that, Paulina's heart dropped to her throat, "Can I go in to see my mother?".
"The nurse will take her to the ward later."
"Thank you, doctor."
A little later, Agustina was wheeled out by the nurses and Paulina hurried to follow her.
Marcos arrived at the hospital and went straight to the ward.
As he entered the room, he caught a glimpse of the slender figure sitting next to the bed.
He approached her and placed his hand gently on her shoulder.
Paulina turned her head, saw it was him and forced a smile, "You're here."
"How's mom?" Marcos looked at Agustina.
"The doctor said it was low blood sugar that made her faint, it's nothing serious."
That was what they said, but Paulina was still worried inside.
After all, her mother's health had never been good.
"Are you tired?" asked Marcos in a low voice.
Paulina shook her head, "No, I'm not tired. I just want to spend time with mom right now."
"I'll stay with you."
"Don't you have things to attend to?" asked Paulina, looking at him, puzzled.
Marcos rubbed her hair, "There's nothing more important than you."
Paulina's heart overflowed with emotion and she leaned back against him, saying softly, "Actually you can go do your business, I'll be fine on my own."
"It's okay, I'll leave when mom wakes up."
He was so insistent that Paulina said nothing more.
...
Rawlins asked for contacts and tried everything he could to get Earlene out on bail, but I don't know if anyone had called ahead or what, but he ran into walls at every turn. No one would help him.
"Damn it!" Rawlins slammed his palm down hard on the steering wheel, looking grim.
"Chairman, with the power of the Bartram family, it would honestly be very easy to get the lady out on bail, but this is too bizarre." The Javiero lawyer frowned in disbelief.
Rawlins hooked his lips into a grimace, "Strange, indeed, because City J has The Leoz Family, which doesn't give The Leoz Family face."
At that, the Javiero attorney was surprised, "You mean The Leoz family is in on this?"
Rawlins cocked his head, closed his eyes and said quietly, "I can't blame The Leoz family, Earlene is the one who got into it with The Leoz family first, and whatever The Leoz family does, I'm not surprised." The Javiero lawyer's brow furrowed further, "So what do we do?"
Rawlins was silent for a moment before slowly opening his eyes, "Prepare a lawsuit, no matter what you do, you can't let Earlene go to jail."
The Javiero lawyer nodded, "Yes."
Meanwhile, Alvaro presented to the police the evidence he had gathered about Earlene's alleged kidnapping.
Upon police investigation, it was indeed Earlene who had sent the kidnappers of Mrs. Gloria and Agustina.
Earlene had tried to defend herself, but with the evidence before her, she could not refute it.
It was very likely that she would be sentenced to prison and it was almost impossible for her to be released on bail.
When the news reached Grandma Bartram's ears, the old man was so overwhelmed that he almost fainted.
It was a while before he burst into tears and said, "Rawlins, you must save Earlene, you must not let her go to jail." "Grandma, I..." Rawlins wasn't sure he could save Earlene.
The evidence was overwhelming and with The Leoz Family involved, Earlene should be in jail for sure. "The Bartram family can't afford to look bad and Earlene can't stand the indignity, so by all means get her out." When the old woman said that, Rawlins could only nod, "Yes, I'll do everything I can to get Earlene out." "That's good."
The old woman pondered for a moment, thinking he alone couldn't do it, and said, "Take me to Mark."
