Love Comes To Me -
Chapter 1365: Accepting Divorce
After a long while, Paulina's emotions gradually calmed down, she took half a step back and reached up to wipe the tears from her face. "I'm sorry, I couldn't control my emotions." She knew that crying like that would make everyone worry even more, it was just that she couldn't control it.
"It's okay." Mrs. Gloria gently patted her back, "I know you are worried about your mother, but crying won't solve anything and with us, mother in law's mother will come back safe and sound." Ms. Gloria's words of comfort caused the tears that Paulina had managed to hold back to well up again and she squeezed the inner corners of her eyes to force them back. She nodded, "Well, I trust Marcos."
Once the family was back inside and seated in the living room, Alvaro blurted out Earlene's request.
"That crazy woman said she would let the aunt back in if the brother would divorce his sister-in-law and go back to her."
"Divorce his sister-in-law?!" Bonita exclaimed, unconsciously looked at Paulina, saw that her face didn't look good and couldn't help but exhale, "That woman is really crazy! Of the incorrigible kind!" Sister John frowned with a stony expression, "But if we don't do as she says, is it possible that the mother-in-law's mother might not come back?"
"What are you talking about?" Mrs. Gloria nudged him, gesturing with her eyes for him to watch his words before he made it more difficult for Paulina.
Mr. Juan sighed, "I'm telling the truth. That woman has gone so crazy that it is unpredictable what she will do."
At these words, the air was plunged into stony silence, everyone's expressions grave.
After a long moment, Bonita took the floor and asked: "Is it really only possible to get a divorce?
She looked at Paulina and Marcos.
Marcos squeezed Paulina's hand tightly: "It is impossible for us to get divorced".
The low voice had a tinge of determination.
"Marcos..." Paulina turned her head to look.
Marcos gave her a reassuring smile, "Don't worry, I'll find a way to get mom out." "Brother, I know what to do."
At that moment, Alvaro, who had remained silent, suddenly opened his mouth. Everyone else looked his way.
Just to listen, he then said, "Brother, sister-in-law, you are getting a divorce."
Everyone froze.
Bonita was the first to react and threw a punch at him, "Are you crazy? I can't believe you are asking brother and sister-in-law to divorce."
"Yes, Alvaro, how can you say such things?". Mrs. Gloria gave him a disgruntled look.
"Anyway, you are absolutely right to listen to me." Alvaro was about to beat his chest in reassurance.
Paulina and Marcos looked at each other, thought about it, and said, "Okay, we'll divorce."
Alvaro couldn't want them to divorce, there had to be some kind of agreement.
That was why he had agreed.
"Paulina!"
"Sister-in-law!
Mr. Juan, Mrs. Gloria and Bonita were stunned, they looked at her incredulously.
Paulina curved her mouth, "I trust Alvaro."
At her comment, everyone else looked at Alvaro.
"What the hell do you have in mind?" asked Bonita suspiciously, looking at her husband.
Alvaro raised an eyebrow, "I have a way to get Earlene to let the man go anyway."
"Okay, do what Alvaro says." Sister Juan merely slapped down the decision.
Alvaro curved his lips into a smile, "And you, brother, just take your sister-in-law to the Office of Civil Affairs to get the divorce and the staff will help you do the paperwork then." Marcos nodded, "Okay."
Alvaro thought a moment and added, "But before you go, call Earlene and tell her you're willing to get a divorce."
"Okay."
Although she knew he didn't want to divorce her, hearing his "yes" was like a tug on Paulina's heart.
Unconsciously, she shook his hand.
Perhaps sensing her thoughts, Marcos turned his head to the side and whispered in her ear, "We can never get divorced in our lifetime."
Paulina looked into his eyes affectionately and nodded softly, "I know."
Then Marcos turned to Alvaro and said, "Tell Eliazar to keep looking for people and to inform me as soon as there is news."
"Don't worry, brother, I've given the orders." said Alvaro.
Now it was a two-pronged approach, promising Earlene a divorce while secretly sending someone to look for her. Whatever it took, they had to get the man back.
...
The next day, before going to the civil service, Marcos called Earlene as Alvaro had told him.
It didn't take long for her to answer: "Marcos, you have finally taken the initiative to call me".
Paulina was close by and her heart skipped a beat when she clearly heard Earlene's voice coming out of the earpiece.
Marcos squeezed her hand, his thin lips parted and his voice was cold, without a trace of emotion, "I agree to the divorce."
"What?" Earlene's surprised voice came from the other end of the phone, "You're not lying to me, are you?".
Considering her feelings for Paulina, how could she agree to divorce so easily?
"I promise to divorce, but you have to keep your promise and release the person."
Earlene picked up the dismay in her heart and laughed lightly, "Don't worry, as long as you get a divorce, I will naturally release the person."
At these words, Mark hung up the phone.
He looked sideways at Paulina, his eyes full of tenderness, "Come on, let's go to the Civil Affairs Office now."
Paulina nodded, "Okay."
When they arrived at the Office of Civil Affairs, Alvaro had arranged for them to get a divorce, and the staff quickly went through the divorce paperwork.
Paulina looked at the divorce papers in her hand and felt like she was dreaming.
She and Marcos were divorced...
Inexplicably, tears flowed down her eyes.
Even though she knew they were fake, she found it hard to feel them inside.
"Silly, why are you crying?" Marcos reached up and wiped away her tears with his fingertips, with a touch of affection in his soft voice, whispering in her ear, "Don't cry, when everything calms down, we'll get married again." She took a deep breath, the corners of her mouth barely turned up, and said earnestly, "Mark, thank you."
It was all she could do to save her mother.
That said, she turned around, pulled her phone out of her purse, looked for Earlene's number and dialed it.
When she got through, her gaze instantly turned cold and her tone was icy, "Earlene, Marcos and I have already finalized the divorce, can you release my mother?".
