Let Me Love You Again -
Chapter 38
Nate
I snapped away from Maya, suddenly lifting myself off the couch, only to realize I was naked.
I fell to the ground trying to cover my d**k with the pillow while Maya sat down and looked at the figures on the door with wide eyes.
Lucas looked at me from head to toe, with a look full of desire, winking, while the other person, she just expressed anger.
Maya felt the couch and grabbed my shirt as she looked almost terrified at my sister.
“Jess,” she said with a string of her voice.
“Try to tell me that’s not what looks like and I swear I will scream, Maya” my sister said, icily.
“Let me explain,” Maya began to say.
I looked around for something to cover for myself while Lucas practically devoured me with his eyes.
“What do you have to explain to me, Sheppar?” Jess asked as Maya got up from the couch and approached her.
I stood for a moment admiring her beauty in my shirt that completely covered her, reaching her mid-thigh, then I took off my head and took my shorts off the ground, putting them on while trying to keep my d**k covered from Lucas’ voracious eyes.
“That you’re f*****g my brother behind my back?” Jess continued furiously.
“Please keep your voice down,” Maya said, looking at the baby monitor for a second.
“Keep my voice down?! You had these problems while Nate was banging you here on the couch?!” she raised her voice.
“We were silent” I commented without being able to avoid.
Jess glared at me and then pointed his finger at me, “You,” she said, taking a step toward me, “You little prick, it wasn’t enough that you ruined all my friendships with any female being, you had to bang my best friend?!” cried this time louder “And you” turned to Maya this time “Couldn’t you keep your legs closed for once?!”
“Jess!” Lucas and I scolded her together.
“Shut up, don’t get in my way!” she said, “What happens when Nate gets tired of f*****g you? Have you thought about it, Maya? Because that’s how he does it, when his d**k is tired he goes to the next and then what about you? You will turn your back on me like all those who went with him!” she took turns.
Jess’s green eyes were bursting with anger and her cheeks were red with fury as her body trembled. I had never seen her so angry. But why was it?
“This time it’s different,” Maya said her voice low, not out of fear, but to wake Axel sleeping in the other room.
Suddenly a rage assailed me. Jess had respect not only for Maya, but also for the child who lived in this house. She acted like the world revolved around her, like we had to ask her permission to live our lives.
“Different?!” she cried again.
I stepped forward, pissed off, and looked at her grimly.
“Keep your f*****g voice down,” I said angrily.
Jess looked at me, hot and angry. Wrath for what?
“I’m sorry to break it to you, but the world doesn’t revolve around you, Jess,” I said, “What happens between us is not about you, neither now nor ever,” I tried to keep my voice as calm as possible, even though I could feel my anger bubbling under my skin.
Jess didn’t even deign to answer me. She looked behind me, pointing her inquisitive eyes at Maya.
“How long has it been going on” she said, glacial.
“From your marriage,” Maya replied firmly.
Jess froze, froze completely as she looked straight into Maya’s eyes, her harpy look that made every person cave into a courtroom and I had to give her credit. Maya didn’t give in, she didn’t give up, she looked back at Jess cold.
Maya wouldn’t back down, she seemed a lot more ready to fight than Jess. She wanted to fight for her, for me. If there hadn’t been a harpy in front of me, I probably would have f****d Maya to death.
“It’s been two months, Maya,” Jess said, “You f****d my brother behind my back for two months, even when I told you not to and you looked me in the eye and said you wouldn’t!”.
“Jess is no big deal,” Lucas suddenly said, touching her on the shoulder.
Jess swiftly turned to him, glaring at him “Why don’t you look surprised?” Jess suddenly asked.
Lucas suddenly turned white.
“You knew! Traitor!” cried Jess. This time the cry came to Axel’s ears and he began to cry in despair in the other room.
“It wasn’t up to me to tell you” Lucas defended himself and then headed for Axel’s room.
“What happens when he gets tired, huh? You’ll disappear for another five years like the first time? Will you forget that you have a friend, a sister, who has always been there for you?” Jess said this time with a thread in her voice.
“That’s not gonna happen,” I said for sure.
“Even if things don’t work out between us, it won’t affect our friendship. Please Jess,” Maya intervened.
I wanted to tell her that option wasn’t even an option to consider, that I’ll never get away from her, that even if the things treat to not work out, I’ll find a Way to make them work, but I kept my mouth shut.
“I don’t believe you. That’s never gonna happen,” Jess turned around and stormed out of the apartment.
Maya rushed behind her and I followed her. Jess ran into Andrew coming out of the elevator with bags in his hand. He was passed by Jess who entered the elevator and pressed buttons randomly.
Maya stopped in the hallway and looked into Jess’s eyes as the elevator doors closed, hiding Jess inside. Andrew looked first at the elevator and then at me, with a frowning forehead. Maya sighed and leaned against the door as she closed her eyes.
“You’re not following her?” Lucas said from inside the apartment.
“No,” Maya resolutely said before turning around and going back into the apartment and then ripping Axel from Lucas’ arms and leaving with her son in the bedroom.
I looked at Andrew and sighed, “I don’t envy you at all, man,” I said, shrugging.
“I didn’t understand what happened,” he replied, looking around.
“Jess caught Maya and Nate f*****g like schoolboys and she got pissed off,” Lucas summed up.
“Oh, congratulations Nate” was Andrew’s first response, “Um, I think I need to go calm Jess down. Give her a few days and see that she gets over it, tell Maya too,” he said before he turned around and got back into the elevator.
I walked into the apartment scratching my head as Lucas followed me with his eyes, blinding me and making me uncomfortable.
“Stop f*****g me with your eyes, Lucas,” I said on the way to the kitchen.
“I wish I was pissed off about the situation but I can only envy and understand Maya,” he said in a hoarse voice.
I took two glasses and filled them with water, giving him one.
“You couldn’t call and warn?” I suddenly said.
“She caught me off guard. I thought she called. I only thought about it when she took out the keys and opened the door, but at that moment he had already seen you rubbing together on the sofa”
“You’re always helpful,” I said when the bedroom door opened.
Maya went out with Axel in her arms. The baby was completely naked except for the diaper, while smiling cheerfully and clinging to Maya’s neck.
Maya took off my shirt and now she was wearing a sports bra and tight leggings.
“He threw up on me,” Maya said with her frowning forehead, “I ruined your shirt,” she added not at all sorry.
“Don’t worry babe,” I said calmly.
Lucas looked at us for a moment and sighed, “As much as I want to stay here and watch you two make sweet eyes,” he began to say ironically, “I really think I’m going home to my boyfriend to unload some tension accumulated after seeing Nate naked,” he continued seriously.
I rolled my eyes and leaned against the table, crossing my arms across my chest.
“I’ll call you OK?” he said to Maya, “Give her some time and see that she’ll get over it, she didn’t find it in the best way,” he continued.
Maya nodded and, without saying a word, went into the bathroom, with Axel in her arms who was making cheerful verses.
Lucas and I watched her close the door behind her, then Lucas turned to me, “You!” he said, pointing the finger at me.
I frowned at him confused.
“I see how you bask in the idea of having Maya all to yourself, and as proud as I am of how she stuck her neck out for you against Jess, you need to figure this out. It’s your fault they fought”
“What should I do?” I sighed.
“I don’t know! Something! Fix it before it’s too late!” he said before turning around and leaving the apartment.
I shook my head and stood still for a few minutes, thinking about what to do. Maybe I should tried to talk to Jess, try to calm her down. I knew she was terrified of losing Maya again, I remembered how bad it was when Maya left, but she had to have more faith in her. Acting like she just did, it only made things worse.
I sighed and walked to the bathroom, where Maya had been holed up.
