I got up to the sound of the alarm ringing in the room. I reached out to the bedside table, where my phone was lying, so I could turn it off. When the sound stopped trilling I sighed, feeling a weight on my chest.

I laid my hands on Axel’s little back who had decided to sleep on it that night, just like his mother did every single night and about her, Maya was clinging to my arm, her breath tickled my skin while she slept blissfully, despite the alarm ringing two seconds earlier.

I passed my free hand in Axel’s blond hair that stretched at my touch, even though he, despite the alarm clock, had not hinted at moving.

“Everything will be fine, we will be fine and we will wait for you here, I would wait for you all my life if it were necessary. I turned around freely in the spacious kitchen and turned on the coffee machine, making some just for myself since Maya couldn’t drink it.

I also started to make some pancake dough and started to prepare them. After several minutes, she heard Maya come down the stairs, snorting and then saw her show up in the kitchen.

“Are you ok?” I asked her as she opened the fridge and pulled out the juice.
