I’m Not Yours, Alpha – Chapter 45

Dominic turned off the screen of his phone and left it on the seat next to him after receiving Aidan’s message to call Madox to come and get Julian, he didn’t want to entrust him to anyone else. He didn’t understand the strictness of his omega’s request but he trusted him, so he turned the wheel and headed to where he knew for sure the alpha would be at that hour, working of course.

He entered through the reception of block three and passed through without even asking permission, his presence was quite well known in the place and more than one woman sighed when she noticed his presence, especially when he was in a suit and dressed up as he was at that moment. Something that at first caught his attention but after being with Dulse and then Aidan it wasn’t part of his priority, after all, he was a loyal and bonded alpha.

He walked towards the lab and from far away he heard the voice of the one he was looking for and as he couldn’t miss it, he wasn’t alone. He approached the open door and knocked with the knuckle of his finger, breaking the atmosphere inside. Madox who was conversing with his hands in inconspicuous places on the woman sitting on his thighs grunted as he was interrupted.

-I hope you have a good reason for coming to see me personally without telling me first,” he softened his tone as he noticed Dominic’s sombre expression. The woman on his thighs had a goofy grin on her flushed face and did little to straighten her clothes.

-Aidan called me, he’s at the house with Julian,” the mere mention of the omega’s name caused Madoz to stand almost leaving her beta on the floor and he paid no attention to her protests.

-What’s wrong with my little bird?

Dominic frowned.

-I don’t even know why I’m telling you,” he glanced indiscreetly at the woman who had straightened up and straightened her clothes, sighing, “That’s not my problem. Aidan wants you to pick him up. Apparently he’s not feeling well, he’s got a fever and it’s spiking.

-And why the hell doesn’t he come to the hospital,” he was already grabbing his bag of basic medicines and heading out the door.

-I don’t know, maybe so he wouldn’t witness something like this.

Madox stopped dead in his tracks and scrunched up the bridge of his nose.

-Dominic walked past him, after bonding with Aidan he saw the omega as something precious and understood a little more how he felt. The relationship between alpha and omega was not something so simple and that boy, who was just another number among his friend’s, must be having a hard time- I’ll tell you one thing. The nicer you are to him, the more you hurt him. So think about what you’re going to do, but I don’t have to tell you, you’re an adult alpha.

-Dominic, since when did the roles of advisor get reversed?” they all watched as they chatted amongst themselves and moved out of the way.

The alpha just raised his shoulders.

Aidan grabbed a pill and took it with a large sip of water, he hoped the painkiller would help with the pain in his chest. There was pheromone residue from that guy all over him and Julian, and he knew Dominic was sure to be upset about it. Luckily the house was permeated by his alpha’s and that made him feel sheltered.

Julian’s body lay almost unconscious on the couch where he walked over, put a cold towel on his forehead and laid his head against his shoulder. He hoped that between Dominic’s soothing pheromones and his own he would get at least a little better. He stroked the omega’s hair and sighed. He hoped the day would have ended differently, but that was too much to hope for.

He heard the door move and smiled slightly as Dominic finally opened it for his body to be pushed open and a very serious Madox came in and sat down next to Julian.

-How is he?” he asked taking his hand and feeling his pulse quickly, it was a method rarely used nowadays but it yielded surprising data. At that he had to stop himself from baring his fangs, “That smell again, why the hell did they both have it this time?

-What?” Dominic placing the key on the plateau reached over and leaned against Aidan’s neck and sucked in sharply, grunting in response.

Aidan tensed and Dominic pulled back. He could feel it’s sensitivity so something strong must have happened.

-What happened?” demanded Madox as he pulled a bulb from his bag and a syringe.

-There was a fight in the centre between two alphas and there were a lot of pheromones in the air, we were only affected by them, and Julian a bit more.

-Be more creative,” Madox injected the younger man’s arm, wiping it with cotton wool, “The smell on him is not the first time I’ve felt it,” he looked at him piercingly.

Aidan swallowed, but luckily she was quick to create both in design and to weave a lie. He knew the situation but Julian had asked him to be able to tell the story himself.

-Can you take care of him,” Aidan asked worriedly. He feared he was alone in his house. “Do you think he can stay with you for a while?

Madox raised an eyebrow.

-He never lets anyone go to his house,” Dominic declared, sitting down across from them.

This time Madox closed his eyes and snorted, his friend’s words still echoing in his head.

-Come on, let me handle this, I’ll take care of everything,” since Julian had started acting strange Madox was aware of his behaviour, “And you Dominic, we’ll have a conversation later,” he said.

-I’ll be anxious to hear what you have to tell me,” the alpha smiled strangely.

Madox slipped his arms under Julian’s legs and carried him, resting his weight on his chest. The omega stirred, seeking his closeness. Once he felt him his breathing, which had been ragged so far, began to normalise.

-At least open the door for me, I can’t do it with my hands full and put my bag down,” he said to his friend who looked shocked as he didn’t think that Madox would really take her home.

Aidan waited for Dominic to return during which time he sat there inhaling his scent which had become stronger since his arrival. The door opened and the owner of the flat came in, undoing his tie and taking off his jacket, which he left lying on a piece of furniture.

-That Madox will give me grey hair before I know it,” he walked over to the fridge and pulled out a bottle of water, “Aidan what really happened today, you can’t lie to me?

The omega clasped his hands in his lap.

-I can’t tell you,” he struggled to say.

The alpha didn’t bother and approached him, standing in front of him.

-We had decided that we would never keep secrets from each other,” he didn’t sound upset, more hurt.

Aidan bit his l*p.

-We met someone from Julian’s past, but I can’t tell you more about it, he asked me to,” he said.

-Will you keep the secret just because it’s his, even from your alpha?

Aidan nodded even though his head heaved with every movement.

-Will you use your Voice to get him to say it,” he said, remembering the tension he’d been through made his body go cold.

The water bottle slipped from Dominic’s hands.

-Why would I do something like that,” he was almost shocked that Aidan would say just that, “If you don’t want to tell me for some reason, I don’t have to use my Voice on you, I don’t think it’s necessary.

The omega nodded knowing he shouldn’t have said that but he was still nervous from the encounter with the alpha.

-Sorry,” he let all the air out of his lungs, “I didn’t mean that,” he apologised.

-I will never use my Voice on you again, you are not an omega that I have to sodomise, I like you the way you are,” he said.

Dominic finally showed a smile since he had returned. Aidan felt more relaxed and changed the subject.

-Can I ask you, when are we going to Hawaii?

-Are you desperate to go,” the omega pretended he was, but what he really had in mind was that Julian should be as far away from that place as possible, “Well, if everything works out well, in four days we can leave.

Aidan took a deep breath. He hoped that in that time there wouldn’t be any other inconveniences. Dominic stood up and he was quick to grab his hand. There was something else he needed from him.

-Could you help me,” he asked.

Dominic looked confused at first.

-I need a shower. Could you help me get these pheromones that don’t belong to you off me?

The alpha was surprised at the request but intertwined his fingers with his anyway. After all, he hadn’t expected her to ask him to do just that, especially since their relationship on the s****l side was still quite tense.
