I’m Not Yours, Alpha – Chapter 21

Dominic led Aidan with one arm around his waist through the main entrance to the venue where the meeting of the company presidents was to be held. The smell of the alphas was quite thick and hit Aidan, making him stagger slightly.

-Are you sure it’s a good idea for you to be here?

-Do you know all the details of the project,” he shook his head to focus.

-Still, you don’t have to try so hard, I could have managed, I’m worried about you Aidan, I don’t want to see you being uncomfortable about anything.

-It sounds very nice from the lips of the person who took advantage of my body while I was totally asleep,” she looked over her shoulder and raised an eyebrow at him, “did you at least bother to ask me what I wanted?

Aidan had to admit that he was really irritating that afternoon. He spent so many hours sleeping that part of his body was numb and not knowing what was going on around him was getting on his nerves. On the other hand the whole smell of Dominic was getting more and more powerful and every nerve in his body was telling him that he had to be submissive to him and that irritated him.

They entered the great hall and boy was it full of alphas everywhere. At least they could count about thirty to forty people, all in suits and the few women in the room who tended to be betas and the occasional marked omega wore lustrous dresses. For this day Aidan had chosen a totally ordinary but elegant black suit, his hair as usual grew very fast and he had combed it back trying to hide his unmarked nape. He had been warned how dangerous an unmarked omega was in a place full of alphas. He didn’t bother to wear perfume. Dominic had impregnated his clothes with his pheromones in whatever way he could, to signal to the alphas that even if he wasn’t marked yet, he already had an owner.

He watched as a tall, grizzled alpha approached them and greeted Dominic cordially, though the hint of envy in his voice was more than evident.

-I see you are in good company,” he mentioned, turning his attention to him.

Aidan could feel the grip on his waist tighten and the atmosphere around his partner became thick. Dominic was not happy that this person was studying his companion.

-Yes, in good company,” his words were stiff but the other alpha didn’t take the hint.

-Could you tell me your name,” he raised a hand towards him with the aim of taking his hand.

If what Madox said earlier was true, by now this person must have known from his scent that he was an omega, and apparently he didn’t mind flirting with him even when his alpha was next to him. That man had to be stronger than Dominic for him to do that and there would be no retaliation.

-If my alpha wants to tell him, no problem,” he didn’t want to cause any misunderstandings so he would leave everything in Dominic’s hands. He didn’t say he was his alpha, let him assume then.

Dominic in turn pushed him back a little and turned around.

-Excuse my rudeness but my omega is a little tired from the journey and wishes to sit down, I don’t think he’ll be able to engage him in conversation now,” and with that they walked away towards the table they had been assigned.

-Are you sure he won’t mind if I don’t answer him?

-I’m sure he will. He’s Michel Norman, he’s an alpha specialising in the area of facial aesthetics, very powerful indeed, but his disrespectful character has caused him to lose quite a few contacts and clients. There is even a rumour that he wanted to take advantage of the omega of a friend of his. I don’t know if it’s true, but it’s a small world and news travels like water and once you’re soaked it’s very difficult to dry yourself off.

Aidan nodded and took the soft drink Dominic offered him after an employee placed it on the table.

-They should be starting in a few minutes, is there anything you want,” the alpha ran a hand down his thigh, which Aidan patted.

-I’ll be honest with you, don’t even think about leaving my side, for some reason I feel a thousand eyes on me, and it’s the first time I’ve been so uncomfortable in a meeting,” she heard him snort.

-As you wish, beautiful.

Ten minutes later the introductions began. In their turn they both walked to the stage and Dominic began his speech. Aidan had to admit that he knew his way around, but he wouldn’t be left behind. He demonstrated the skills he had learned over the years and how he had been able to captivate most of the clients of the old company, if only it wasn’t for the director they had, they would have prospered quickly. There was no shortage of people questioning and pushing him on the grounds that there were some flaws or loopholes in his project. But even Dominic himself was impressed when he answered everything and made things so clear that he himself had no doubts. That was why he had insisted, he was an alpha but he would not have been able to answer the way Aidan had.

When he finished his presentation the applause in the room was there, even from those Dominic knew were there to criticise him. He was proud of his partner and how efficient he was. Having such a guy by his side would only make his life so much easier and more enjoyable. Another factor that made him fall more in love with him.

Dominic washed his face for a moment in the bathroom. He’d had to leave as soon as he’d finished all the exposures and run to the wash to freshen up. He felt his breath getting heavy in his throat and he was starting to sweat under his suit. He reached into his pocket and found nothing but his mobile phone and cursed.

He always put suppressors in his suits for any emergency. His heat was due in at least 48 hours, but his calculations had apparently gone wrong. He was always fixed with heat and the symptoms would show up at least fifteen hours after it appeared, but this time he felt like he was about to fall into the abyss.

It could be that she had been brought forward by friction with her omega or by having him next to her. He just knew his fangs were starting to itch and he wanted to mark him. He had to get back to the hotel and find the suppressants in the suitcase. She didn’t like taking them, they were too strong and made her vomit throughout the rut but she didn’t want to hurt Aidan and she knew she would be in danger if she found him in that state.

She took a deep breath holding her whole body and searched for him. She found him surrounded by at least three alphas although he didn’t seem uncomfortable with the situation, rather he was talking comfortably and they were attentive to him. He approached and grabbed his hand possessively pulling him closer, the very idea that there were other alphas around him made him even more ill tempered.

-Dominic, what are you doing? Aidan jerked but couldn’t let go.

-I don’t want you near them.

-What are you saying,” he shook his hand again and managed to get rid of the meat shackle, “Those alphas are interested in your project and want to do business with us, don’t give me that alpha male stuff now, it’s not the time, and let me do your job, I’m doing mine,” Aidan said.

-Let’s go back, I need to go to the hotel urgently and I can’t leave you here,” he intended to rent another room that would be available at least until his heat was over.

-You go back,” he said calmly, unaware of the situation, after all he would never imagine that Dominic’s zeal was bordering, “Let me sort this out, it’s important and I’ll follow you in a taxi, his proposals are too tempting and you’ll thank me later”.

Dominic again insisted almost desperate to get out of there and he continued to refuse. Arguing with a young businessman was the worst thing that could happen to him. In the end he gave up and left, if he stayed any longer he could mark him there and then. The idea of leaving him there didn’t seem at all pleasant but his instinct was beginning to take control of him in a dangerous way.

Aidan watched him go, a little worried but he returned to the alphas and closed certain deals that in the short term would bring Dominic a good profit. He still wondered what was keeping him so busy. Gathering his things he walked towards the entrance to do as he had told Dominic when a certain alpha crossed his path.

-Don’t you think you owe me a conversation, beautiful omega?
